Mistakes in javascript code for virtual packages in packages.debian.org
Hello, I have just noticed that in the page http://packages.debian.org/lenny/xscreensaver, the code for wordlist (a virtual package) ends with: init_toggle_elem("wordlist",32 providing packages which is incorrect because the second argument should be quoted and it lacks the final parenthesis for init_toggle_elem. Problem with menu and navbar in French translation of the main page
Hello, I have noticed that on the French translation of the main page (http://www.debian.org/index.fr.html), the left menu and the navbar are not translated any more. I checked the wml_run.log yesterday night and noticed that this page was rebuilt, but I could not understand why (I could not find anything obvious by browsing the CVS repository). Does anyone know if something recently changed on www-master (maybe some locales were changed?) ? Unfortunately, I do not have enough time to investigate this issue until next thursday. Fred (French website translation coordinator) PS: I have just noticed that this problem exists with all rebuilt webpages (for French, I don't know for other languages) (compare http://www.debian.org/News/weekly/2007/04/index.fr.html and http://www.debian.org/News/weekly/2007/05/index.fr.html) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". But currently there is no such entry for Andorra (defined in countries_all.wml) in countries.wml, and so it can not be translated to French (as it is not in countries.fr.po) in the submit.fr.html webpage. The fix would be to add to countries.wml the missing countries, to regenerate countries.pot and to update the translations. Thanks for your help. The Debian Wiki is no exception (compare http://wiki.debian.org/PageD'Accueil and http://wiki.debian.org/FrontPage). Moreover, the current translation infrastructure allows a good quality control (based on my experience in the French translation team). > This way we wouldn't have to distinguish between informations available > in "the wiki" and "the homepage" this makes no sense anyway from a users > point of view. Hello Alexander, In the release.txt file, the dates are wrong (they reference "April 1st, 2007" while it should be "April 8th, 2007"). It also says: As always, Debian GNU/Linux systems can be upgraded quite painlessly, in place, without any forced downtime, but it is strongly recommended to read the release notes for possible issues. This is unfortunately not true: the upgrade is quite painful with a minimal upgrade, then an upgrade for some packages (depending on your configuration) and the kernel, a reboot and then the complete system dist-upgrade (see section 4.5 of the release notes for details). This is typical if you haven't installed the exact locale used for translation (see .wmlrc in your language directory). For instance, French .wmlrc uses fr_FR.ISO-8859-15 whereas my system uses fr_FR.UTF-8, so I had to install the other locale to be able to generate completely translated webpages. The bug tracking system is linked > directly from the debian homepage and can be found at http:// > www.debian.org/Bugs/. But in this case I cannot see a bug at all. Hello, I think that Tushar refers to the packages.debian.org website pages and some copyright files are indeed missing: for instance, at the page http://packages.debian.org/stable/base/bash, there is a link to http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/b/bash/bash_2.05b-2-26/bash.copyright. But this file does not exist (only http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/b/bash/bash_2.05b-2-26/copyright exists, but this is the file for the bash Debian source package). So either there is a problem with the script which generates webpages for packages.debian.org, or there is (or was) a problem with the script which extracts copyright files from Debian package. Personally, I think that this is the latter. Frank, could you have a look at this? Maybe the second script needs to reextract copyright files from the stable packages (I don't know enough about this script to understand if this is easily doable). The relevant bugreport is #338484 (http://bugs.debian.org/338484). Hello, You seem to have a similar problem to the one about old wget versions described in the Debian CD FAQ: http://www.debian.org/CD/faq/#wget-dvd I don't know which tool can download files larger than 4 GB under Windows, but it would be worthy to add the most common ones which work (and which are free, of course). FileZilla (http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/) seems a good choice. Fred -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Since the size matches with my own templates.mo file, it may be correct (you could either rebuild the mo file to regenerate it or compare the md5sum, you could even strings the mo file and check that the latest added strings are there). I have noticed this (and other errors also) about a "No space left on device" in the build of the french Debian website translation at http://www-master.debian.org/build-logs/webwml/wml_run.log (build the 15th around 20:00). Broken package descriptions from packages.debian.org
Hello, I have noticed that recently the package descriptions are always set to "Error while loading descriptions database:" (f.e. http://packages.debian.org/ipmasq). I guess that there is some problem getting the Packages description file, but I don't know where this is done (maybe in http://cvs.debian.org/packages/contents/refetch?cvsroot=webwml ?). Hello Richard, It seems that someone already fixed the problem a few hours ago (http://cvs.debian.org/webwml/english/releases/sarge/index.wml?cvsroot=webwml), you probably noticed the problem before this page was rebuilt. Firefox uses the first URL from Google returned by the query with "http" as keyword, this is Microsoft website at www.google.com, but could be different. You can deactivate this (IMO broken) behaviour in about:config by changing keyword.enabled to false (in this case, it would have sent you to http://www.http.com!). Thanks for your help. Here are two remarks/complaints: - the CD pages don't validate any more (http://people.debian.org/~alfie/validate/en) with many errors like: Line 127, character 3: document type does not allow element "P" here; missing one of "APPLET", "OBJECT", "MAP", "IFRAME", "BUTTON" start-tag (I don't know if this is related or not) - the title of every page (f.e. http://www.debian.org/intro/about) is now centered whereas it was aligned on the left before. It seems to be less readable to me. Fred

Erm, I think the first poster was not clear enough about his problem. The problem was not about the security archive or in any webpages from the security website, but it was in the packages.debian.org website which was broken a few days ago. AFAIK p.d.o is now corrected and the libpng3 package page correctly lists the latest packages from security (1.2.1-1.1.woody.7). Greetings, Fred

Missing dependency when building BTS pseudo-packages description translation from webwml CVS
Hello, I recently translated Debian BTS pseudo-packages description in French (/webwml/french/Bugs/pseudo-packages.translated-description in the Debian CVS). However, the webpage (http://www.debian.org/Bugs/pseudo-packages.fr.html) was not automatically rebuilt after this change. I think that this comes from a missing dependency in the english Makefile (/webwml/english/Bugs/Makefile). A possible correction would be: Index: Makefile === RCS file: /cvs/webwml/webwml/english/Bugs/Makefile,v retrieving revision 1.15 diff -u -r1.15 Makefile --- Makefile2 Nov 2002 18:02:31 - 1.15 +++ Makefile13 Feb 2004 00:16:59 - @@ -21,4 +21,5 @@ server-request.$(LANGUAGE).html: $(TEMPLDIR)/template.wml otherpages.inc $(ENGLISHDIR)/Bugs/footer.inc pseudo-packages.$(LANGUAGE).html: $(ENGLISHDIR)/Bugs/pseudo-packages.description \ $(TEMPLDIR)/template.wml otherpages.inc $(ENGLISHDIR)/Bugs/footer.inc \ - $(ENGLISHDIR)/Bugs/pseudo-packages.inc + $(ENGLISHDIR)/Bugs/pseudo-packages.inc \ + $(shell [ -f pseudo-packages.translated-description ] && echo "pseudo-packages.translated-description") It seems to do the correct thing for every language (even if the file does not exist), but there may be a simpler solution. Bug#232323: "broken" images below http://murphy.debian.org/lists/
Subject: www.debian.org: "broken" images below http://murphy.debian.org/lists/ Package: www.debian.org Severity: minor A follow-up to a mail from Francis Daly who gave the following good description (http://lists.debian.org/debian-www/2003/debian-www-200310/msg00133.html) so that this problem is not forgotten: Many images below http://murphy.debian.org/lists/ -- for example, http://murphy.debian.org/lists/debian-user-french/debian-user-french-distabs-months.png -- are sent out with a Content-type: header of image/png, but the content is actually of type image/gif. Given the end of the url, the Content-type: header is a reasonable guess by the server; I presume the problem is that whatever creates the images does the equivalent of "mv image.gif image.png" instead of "convert image.gif image.png". The fix is presumably either to change the names of the created images to .gif, or to create them in (or convert them to) png format. The browser "dillo" does not display the images as they currently are, presumably because it decides that they are malformed pngs, since it believes the HTTP header. In http://www-master.debian.org/build-logs/webwml/often.log [...] run-parts: executing /org/www.debian.org/cron/parts/3stattrans Illegal division by zero at ./stattrans.pl line 324. which is 324 $percent_t{$lang} = int ($translated{$lang}/$wml{$lang} * 100 + .5); Fred
Website not building?
Hello, It seems that the webwml run breaks on bulgarian compilation: from current http://www-master.debian.org/build-logs/webwml/wml_run.log [...] make -C bulgarian install make[1]: Entering directory `/org/www.debian.org/webwml/bulgarian' make[1]: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop. make[1]: Leaving directory `/org/www.debian.org/webwml/bulgarian' make: *** [bulgarian-install] Error 2 Bulgarian directory seems to lack top Makefile and every other files. Is there anyone doing changes in this? Cheers Fred

I think there are still some problems with various Debian servers (and services) after the compromise. However you may still see the reason for removing TMDA in the ChangeLog (http://http.us.debian.org/debian/dists/woody/ChangeLog). It appears to come from the maintainer (Bug #219361) and he also recommends using unstable version (in Bug #221906). Cheers, Fred

Thanks for this information. I had wrongly assumed that dillo was at fault here and submitted a bug in the dillo BTS about this (http://www.dillo.org/cgi-bin/bugtrack/Dillo_query.cgi?what=all&Submit=Find+It%21, Issue 502). I guess I'll have to close it there then. Fred

CURRENT-ISSUE-IS was not updated for last DWN (40/2003)
Hello, I think that the file webwml/english/News/weekly/CURRENT-ISSUE-IS in the Debian webwml repository was not updated to reflect the latest DWN (40/2003). As a consequence, the page http://www.debian.org/News/weekly/ still lists the DWN 39/2003 as current issue. Greetings Fred

Hello, The link to the Guide for Laptops seems defunct: tuxmobil.org is not found. Thanks for the hint, it only seems to apply to the french version of this URL : http://www.debian.org/misc/laptops/index.fr.html There was a problem with the URL (in the french translation only) and it is now corrected. Missing backslash in last link of the Installation Manual webpage
Hello, Does anyone have an objection to my correcting the last link on the page http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/installmanual to include a "\" so that no space is displayed in front of that link ?
