This is very important to monitor for new or outdated translations (or for long running review rounds). When I just refreshed the web pages to see todays status, many status are gone or broken. For German the following pages are affected: https://www.debian.org/international/l10n/po/de https://www.debian.org/international/l10n/po-debconf/de https://www.debian.org/international/l10n/po4a/de I can give you numerous examples for broken entries, but in the last link all entries are "empty", while they all should have a sensible status. David Prevot reported that in the past the (no longer existing) manpages-fr-extra had been removed from being listed there as well. Please remove it for the other languages as well (fr, es, mk, ..), tracking it here really is useless and (speaking as part of upstream) have good working relationship with the translators (as far as they are still active). Thanks for your overview. Then the "easy" fix is to simply update the
web page. Then peoply like me who haven't had any contact with those
clients know where to look (which to apt-get).

There I was recommended to use the bittorrent image (previously I remember jigdo or something simliar was used). On the dedicated download page https://www.debian.org/CD/torrent-cd/index.en.html the following is written: You will need a BitTorrent client to download Debian CD/DVD images this way. The Debian distribution includes BitTornado, KTorrent and the original BitTorrent tools. However, this is not true. BitTornado and the original BitTorrent tools have been removed over a year ago from Sid (und Testing). Requiring to install KDE just to download an image is a bit too much, in my opinion. So the text needs to be updated but more importantly a lightweight toolset to download needs to be determined which is available in Debian, preferrably on the command line for easier handling. How to set up a page with gettext (cf. #364913)
Hello, In Brief: = devel/website/working stops short of explaining how to add/create tags to use gettext in the website. Is there an explanation or can someone provide me with one? What I've found out so far: === I looked at the webpage and it seems like a *.defs like is required, where the tags are defined. So in principle I would replace all static text in the generated page by self-made tags which I would define in a corresponding *.defs file. I guess some makefile magic then creates the po/*.pot file used as basis? Is there an explanation how the parameter expansion works? Can I use the new tags in attributes of existing tags, e.g. in the alt attributes of included figures (image alt=)? Background: === Currently the vote pages contain lots of repeated/reused strings which would be a perfect match for the gettext system. My bug regarding this issue (#364913) was stalled for several years, but now I'm in contact with the current debian secretary who provided me with the source for devotee. There a perl script issues the web page for the vote. I try to come up with a patch which makes these pages i18n/l10n friendly (and probably quite quickly with the German translation for those strings, which is currently done by a rather dumb search and replace string perl script). Next steps: === Once I understood the system and set up a preliminary patch I will post it here for further help as my perl-/gettext-/wml-foo probably is not suitable for a 100% solution on the first try, not to speak of the internals of devotee (which is nicly structured, btw.). Like always, patches are welcome. This is a very good start, this was different previously. Note that some of those files are generated by devotee, the script that runs the vote. Here I'm off. Is devotee available somewhere (in some RCS or Debian package)? Then we could work on patches. For the further course of action I suggest involving debian-www (or debian-i18n if you have questions in this regard). If you like I can initiate a mail to debian-www (but probably not before early next week). Or you can start a discussion there, fine with me as well. Technically an untranslated file (0%) is very similar to a barely translated file (1%), which is, if I'm not mistaken, coloured in red. But untranslated files *before* review are not shown at all in this list (they are grouped below). The only reason I could think off not choosing red is that language teams working on many untranslated files in parallel might not like the red appearence, as if they would be doing a bad job while in fact they are doing a great job. (Missing) localization on extended tags page
Hello, when I visit a package page like http://packages.debian.org/lenny/goobox I get the localisations (in my case German) once my browser is set up accordingly. On this site I see the tags associated to this package. The names and content of the tags are (as far as I translated them already) in German, e.g. X Window-System: Anwendung. When I select the hyperlink, however, no translation is seen, in this case I get x11::application Application ... Scrolling to the bottom of http://packages.debian.org/about/debtags; the usual This page is also available in the following languages is missing and I cannot select my language. Even the long descriptions (many of which I already translated) like protocol::http HTTP HyperText Transfer Protocol, one of the most important protocols for the World Wide Web. is not available in German (or any other language, for that matter).
