However, additional features, improved usability and other stuff that could help should be allowed. Javascript must not be mandatory but only optional. Those who watch without a JS enabled browser need to be able to work with our web page. Could only agree to the rest. Another option could be to make it a summer of code project; the FreeBSD project did that last year, and look at their website now! :-) (...) Sounds good Wouter. Btw, I offer myself as co-mentor of such a task, I can do some research on how the SoC project was mentored for the FreeBSD project, how they translate the website and if we can adapt their ideas to our current scenario, what were the problems with the content migration (if it was needed) and stuff like that. I think a better primary mentor would be somebody else more involved with the daily website maintenance though. All right, I >may not be the best webdesigner around here, so what about launching a >contest ? :) Actually, that's not a bad idea at all. There are lots of people in the past who have suggested that that would like to change the layout a bit, so why not give people a change to see what they come up with. However, if we want to create such a "content", I think it is important to state in advance what kind of limitations we want. For example, validating XTHML, clear separation of content and layout, working in all browsers, no frames, no javascript, no dynamic pages, needs to fit in the current wml building scheme and translation practise, etc. What do you guys think? A contest for a new css
Hi! I steal think that debian has, unfortunatly, the less beautiful website of all major distributions. I already submited some artworks I did on this mailling list[1], but not everyone liked it. All right, I may not be the best webdesigner around here, so what about launching a contest ? :) [1] http://lists.debian.org/debian-www/2006/11/msg00042.html
