I fully share Paul opinion regarding this.

As member of website team, I'm very happy we've put a not boring banner on our
homepage.

And to be honest, as the guy who put together that web banner from 'joy' work,
I was even tempted to have more splats :)

Bug#708390: www.debian.org: The new Debian logo creates dirty impression

2013-05-15 Thread Paul Tagliamonte
Hi, Victor,

Thanks for the bug report!

With my desktop-base hat on, in so far as it's mine:

The inkspat shows that we're creative, able to think outside the box,
and have an artistic touch when we need to.

I don't think it's "dirty". Our default has no splats, yes, but we ship
with splats, and I think most folks prefer it with splats.

The original `joy' artwork had these splats, and I prefer to maintain
the artisitic integrity of Adrien's work.

I'd prefer it if the website team didn't change it, myself.

Cheers,
  Paul

Hi Victor,
You are very right indeed! The new logo sends a very bad message.
+1 for your suggestion to replace that logo and thanks for giving notice up
on that.
Cheers,
Oz

impression
To: Debian Bug Tracking System

Package: www.debian.org
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

The logo at the top of http://www.debian.org/ is similar to a blotch and
creates a dirty impression. This is bad from psychological point of view.

I recommend to change the logo.
