Ah! well the standard practice for server is that it'll be console only
(no GUI). This is done when you install deb as its asks what type of
installation you want : Desktop, server or custom.
What that does is to preselect packages to install. Like Gnome desktop
with open office if you select Desktop and Apache and PostgreSql if you
select Server.
There's no fine tuning needed as it works as a server out of the box.All

you have to do is to install the service that you need like Apache,
MySQL, Samba Server etc. and install only the stuff you need.

Like I said, you don't need any fine tuning by default unless you're
planning to have an unusual setup.

Hi Mihira,

My Downloads for Debian DVD-ISO's are successful through FlashGet as
what you had suggested.

Now If you can help for connecting this DEbian OS PC to Microsoft 2003
Server? Is it possible to have connected debian pc into Microsoft
windows network or no?

Robert

the site provides Checksums for all the ISOs it hass. Please use those
check sums against the checksums of the files you have downloaded.
IF the checksums are the same then you can use the downloaded file.
However, since you say your file is mere 372 MB when it should be 4.4
GIGs, I highly doubt that you have the full iso.

what is the speed of your net connection ? What is your Download agent ?

if its Internet Explorer then I'm pretty sure you have a corrupt
download file. Use a download manager and download the ISO files again.

withiut verifying the checksums, do NOT burn the ISOs as you're likely
to waste good DVDs over them.

Verify the downloads first.
