kdrive

2002-02-11 Thread John Lenton
I was wondering if there were any plans to package the kdrive
servers once 4.2 gets out?

Yes, kdrive was in 4.1.x too, but IMHO they're only usable now
that the mouse is autodetected.

If noone is planning to package them, I'll probably do so myself.

Crashes X. If I remember correctly my laptop (which has an ATI

http://bugs.debian.org/wmcpu there are about three bugs that are probably
caused by the same thing. Restarting X works fine.

 Quite bizarre.

Last I checked, it crashed X4 for me on a sid with nv.
But I have no problems with it on X3/woody/mga.

Bizarre indeed.

JL I was wondering if there were any plans to package the kdrive
JL servers once 4.2 gets out?

At some point Samuele Tonon [EMAIL PROTECTED] was planning to
package Xvesa, but I haven't heard from him since. The two of you may
want to get in touch.

JL If noone is planning to package them, I'll probably do so myself.

That would be great. Could you please remember to include the Type 1
and TrueType renderers when you do so?

In addition, you should keep in mind that KDrive will work with no
on-disk fonts or any other infrastructure, so a KDrive package should
not depend on anything (although, of course, it can recommend half
the universe)..

Currently I have included no renderers but font server access.

I have a static Xvesa w/font server access and a large busybox on
a diskette with a dhcp-aware kernel. Instant X terminal.

JL Currently I have included no renderers but font server access.

The renderers take about 150 KB extra. I would like to argue in
favour of Type 1 and TrueType (but CIDFont is optional).

Yep, that's one application.

The other is instant no-configuration usable X server on most
hardware, especially laptops, and that's where the font renderers come
in handy.
