xfree86 4.2.0-0pre1v3 works fine on IBM A30

2002-08-22 Thread toby cabot
IBM A30 laptop (big n' ugly), ATI Radeon Mobility LY (AGP) chipset.
Installation went fine, and it works great. It's nice to be able to
run a Debianized X window system, this chipset didn't work with 4.1.0.

Good work, thanks folks!

xfree86 (4.2.0-0pre1v3) install (upgrade) issue

2002-08-22 Thread Bryan W. Headley
When upgrading from one version to another, debconf sees fit to
overwrite my XF86Config-4 with another one. (I consider it's doing that
dubious. For example, it threw out my loading of xie extension, which I
do for my tablet)

1. It installs freetype and xtt modules, which have duplicate symbols.
2. It seems confused by what HorizSync/VertRefresh to use,

Mine
HorizSync 30-70
VertRefresh 50-180
It's
HorizSync 30-75
VertRefresh 50-85

The monitor is a ViewSonic GS771, using a Matrox G200 adapter.

Build on SPARC was failed with these error bellow.

I'm not tracking down the problem yet because I don't have enough
time for analyzing the problem on today and tomorrow...

I put the full build log and build tree tar ball on these URL,
If someone are interesting to solve the problem, please welcome to
download these :-)

Partly due diligence, partly this:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=139212&repeatmerged=yes

Since the FTP admins have decreed that That Shalt Not Redact An
.Orig.Tar.Gz After It Has Been Uploaded, I want to make sure the 4.2.0
.orig is totally kosher the first time around.

Thanks for the hard work. Is there any specific issue holding XFree86 from
upload to unstable, or are you simply taking the time to make "due diligence",
as the suits call it?

Don't bother then, the TV-Out only works on x86 machines.
