 Hmm, no mention of 1024x768 at all.

 Are you looking at this config file?

I deleted 1024x768 in XF86config-4 because the desktop had 1024x768
size, but the screen not here is the new log file and XF86config-4.
I use Nvidia fame buffer, I made it work beforewith xf86config and
answering no to the question:

Do you want a screen larger than the physical screen? no.
or adding Virtual 1024 768 to the modes in XF86config. Other progrrams
like mol can use full screen framebuffer (but has a configuration tool
for that). I can't see any file in /etc refering to framebuffer modes.
DRI for Nvidia still not supported can anyone talk with Nvidia corp???

As Herbert said, I myself have never experienced such keybouncing
behavior in the console when system is under heavy load, yet X (with a
Microsoft Natural Pro keyboard with the microsoftpro layout, and an ATI
Radeon) goes bezerk with key repeating all too often when doing things
such as apt-get upgrade, or just compiling something.

I don't think the problem is related to load, it's happened to me doing
nothing but writing a mail or editing a text file.

Bug#84720: [XKB] patch for the symbols file for Croatian (hr)

Hi,

For some reason, I never got your message to me asking for the patch, and
this seems to have gotten ignored because I didn't know you wanted it. :(

The patch I've been using, that makes the hr layout consistent with Windows
and with console-tools, just changes the AltGr+. and AltGr+, bindings:

--- hr.dpkg-dist2002-10-04 22:49:16.0 +0200
+++ hr  2001-08-08 19:57:02.0 +0200
@@ -79,9 +79,10 @@
[ braceright]   };
 key AB07 {   [ m,M   ],
[ section   ]   };
-key AB08 {   [ comma,semicolon   ]   };
+key AB08 {   [ comma,semicolon   ],
+   [ less  ]   };
 key AB09 {   [period,colon   ],
-   [ periodcentered]   };
+   [ greater   ]   };
 key AB10 {   [ minus,underscore  ]   };
 key BKSL {   [ zcaron,   Zcaron  ],
[ currency  ]   };

Nobody I know has ever used AltGr+. to get |, because, well, because nobody
uses that, it doesn't work. :) I have no idea why the Slovenians use that,
but us Croats sure don't. We get | by pressing AltGr+w.

In addition, I'd note that some English layouts I've seen use Shift+, and
Shift+. to get and respectively, so it's pretty much obvious why we're
binding them to the right Alt, for consistency.

(Please let me know if you need any more evidence that this patch is not
just my silly wish and that it doesn't actually break anything. It's been
almost two years since I submitted it and I'd hate to see it ignored even
further just because I failed to produce enough arguments for it.)

Bug#171321: xserver-xfree86: No sound with X - computer hangs when switching from console to X while listening to sound

2002-12-01 Thread me
Package: xserver-xfree86
Version: 4.2.1-3
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc: Unknown device 5157
01:00.0 Class 0300: 1002:5157

Hi, I am not sure whether I am expected to send in bug reports for
inofficial packages. Sorry if not.

Problem: When X-console is active, the sound does not work.

console:
cat /dev/null /dev/dsp
dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/dsp bs=1k count=1
works great!

X: kdm log-in to failsafe mode
cat| /dev/null| /dev/dsp
dd| if=/dev/urandom| of=/dev/dsp| bs=1k| count=1
no sound at all

console:
sleep 5; dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/dsp bs=1k count=1
switching to X during the 5 seconds
no sound

console:
mp3blaster - listening to my favourite song
Alt+Strg+F7
system hangs - reboot

If I can provide you with any help solving this problem just let me
know. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Regards
Carsten
