hmm it looks like you have the nvidia-glx package installed. Please do
apt-get --purge remove nvidia-glx
or deinstall the nvidia binay packages and run the compilation again.

Let us know if this is the problem

Bug#275237: "Error loading new keyboard description" using us_intl keyboard

2004-10-06 Thread luca
Package: xlibs
Version: 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8

us_intl keyboard layout stop working. When stating X the keyboard works
like the common us layout (no deadkeys).

/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 snip:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
Driver "keyboard"
Option "CoreKeyboard"
Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
Option "XkbModel" "pc104"
Option "XkbLayout" "us_intl"
EndSection

If I try to load it with setxkbmap I get:
$ setxkbmap -v 10 us_intl
Setting verbose level to 10
locale is C
Warning! Multiple definitions of keyboard layout
Using command line, ignoring X server
Applied rules from xfree86:
model: pc105
layout: us_intl
Trying to build keymap using the following components:
keycodes: xfree86+aliases(qwerty)
types: complete
compat: complete
symbols:pc/pc(pc105)+pc/us_intl
geometry: pc(pc105)
Error loading new keyboard description

XFree86 log says:
The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:
> Error:Can't find file "pc/us_intl" for symbols include
> Exiting
> Abandoning symbols file "default"
Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server
Error loading keymap /var/tmp/server-0.xkm

There's no file in /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/ called pc/us_intl but is there a
us_intl.

If I copy /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/us_intl to /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/pc/us_intl and
I add a line:
include "pc/us"
just next to the line
name[Group1]= "US/ASCII";

It works fine.

Yes, I already worked on fixing hu, ca and ca_enhanced layouts which seem
quite popular, I will try to commit something tonight.

Hm, perhaps you're running into an apt bug then, since lynx definitely
appears to be in the current (4.3.0.dfsg.1-8) build-deps.

hi, a dpkg-buildpackage gets so far and then does this.

presumably the -I parts are stuffed, somehow, such that the only way for
a build to succeed is if you happen to have x-dev packages
installed, and the compile picks up the [possibly out-of-date] header file
from somewhere else.

... and i don't have any such x-dev libraries installed
on the build machine.

Bug#275157: xfonts-base could Suggests: xfonts-base-transcoded

2004-10-06 Thread Loïc Minier
Package: xfonts-base
Version: 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8
Severity: wishlist

 Hi,

I wish xfonts-base would suggest xfonts-base-transcoded to ease its
 discovery.

The same applies to xfonts-100dpi and xfonts-75dpi of course.

Bug#149631: [ati/atimisc] DoS attack possible when viewing absurdly huge fonts on Mach64 GT rev 65

Branden Robinson wrote:

I can't reproduce it with 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4, but I'm using a Radeon R100 QD,
not a Mach64 GT.

FYI, I don't have the Mach64 GT cards anymore (at least not installed
anywhere)
