Bug#318413: xlibs: Backslash Key is broken on Japanese Keyboards

Please do not mix xfree86 4.3.0 and xorg 6.8.2 packages, this won't get
supported. Is there someone having trouble on Japanese keyboards with
xlibs and xserver-xorg 6.8.2.dfsg.1-6?

Bug#327903: xdm server is not shown in chooser

2005-09-12 Thread Tor Magnus Castberg
Package: xdm
Version: 6.8.2.dfsg.1-6
Severity: important

When connecting to the xdm server with "X -indirect " the
chooser does not pick up the local xdm session. "X -query "
works fine. When using BROADCAST and other xdmcp servers are available,
the chooser will list these but not the local xdmcp server. When no other
xdmcp servers are available the chooser has one entry, "list", which will
cycle the xdm connection if selected.

I suspect this is connected with the IPv6 issue where xdm
has broadcast problems if the interface is not listed with "LISTEN
" in Xaccess.

I get no error messages from xdm using -debug.

Issue is reproducible and has been tested on several machines.

Bug#327882: xmessage seems to autocalculate wrong geometry on arm systems

2005-09-12 Thread Joey Hess
Package: xbase-clients
Version: 6.8.2.dfsg.1-6
Severity: normal

If I run "xmessage foo", the window it displays does not display the
text, because it is a few pixels too short. It's apparently scrolled the
text out of the window. It is 51 pixels high according the the window
manage. If I resize it to a bit larger, to 52 pixels, the text becomes
visible.

I cannot seem to reproduce this on i386, just on arm. On i386 the window
comes up 52 pixels high. If I use geometry to force it to 51 or fewer
pixels, I see the same thing as I do on the arm. This problem did not exist
with X as shipped in sarge.

Indeed.

Quoting from a similar bugreport:
| There are multiple possibilities for fixing this:
| 1) --x-includes=/usr/X11R6/include --x-libraries=/usr/X11R6/lib
| 2) (uselessly) build-depend on libxt-dev
| 3) invoke AC_PATH_X with arguments to search for a
| library/header/function you need anyway, instead of the default
| [Xt],[X11/Intrinsic.h],[XtMalloc (0)], e.g.:
| -AC_PATH_X
| +AC_PATH_X([X11],[Xlib.h],[XInitExtension()])

I have not checked libxrender's source code for a correct function to
search for, instead of XtMalloc.

Yeah, the build failed with a missing r300_dri.so. I have now installed
libgl1-mesa-dri (which requires a DRM >= 0.17, linux-image-2.6.12 only has
0.16) and compiled drm.ko and radeon.ko from the dri.freedesktop.org CVS and
can now watch glxgears with up to 5000 fps :)

The same problem exists in version 6.8.99.900.dfsg.1-0pre1.

BTW, does libxkbui really need those math functions ?

Hi, I wonder if this might be a bug in X, though
it could be just as easily a problem with the kernel.
I've CCed the X maintainers, they may have some insight.

Manifest file is in :

  http://people.debian.org/~luther/xorg/MANIFEST.powerpc.new,

I have also placed in that dir the result of the built package, as well as the
build logs, and the *install.powerpc files i had to modify to make the build
work.

Some seem fishy, like the missing libhwfbdev thingy though, but well.

Hopefully this will help to get it straigthened out.

Bug#327282: xserver-xorg: can't switch to virtual console with alt-ctl-f1

I did that, but as my XF86Config-4 had been hand-tweaked, it
completely broke. However, I then hand-compared the dexconf-generated
one with my original and copied appropriate changes. Alt-Ctl-F1 etc
now work again. For info, I've attached the old and new versions,
along with a diff.

It might have simply been changing the XkbLayout setting from uk to gb
which did it.

Hello, I had the same problem !!!

In my case I use the french layout:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
Driver "keyboard"
Option "CoreKeyboard"
Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout" "fr"
Option "XkbVariant""fr"
EndSection

When I comment out the "XkbVariant" line, it works fine.

Regards
Dominique

Bug#327375: xf86cfg gui tool parse error on " 17 " DTC " triple quote

2005-09-12 Thread jeanmichel . 123

Quoting Martin Michlmayr <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Package: xf86cfg

I cannot find such a package or tool, even though it seems X.org
includes one.

I did have the same problem as you:
I did not know where does the file comes from:

quijote:/# which xf86cfg
/usr/bin/X11/xf86cfg

quijote:/# dpkg -S /usr/bin/X11/xf86cfg
dpkg: /usr/bin/X11/xf86cfg not found.

However:

quijote:/# dpkg -L xbase-clients | grep 86
/etc/X11/app-defaults/XF86Cfg
/usr/X11R6/bin/xf86cfg
/usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config
/usr/X11R6/man/man1/xf86cfg.1x.gz
/usr/X11R6/man/man1/xf86config.1x.gz

this was because of a link:

quijote:/# ls -ld /usr/bin/X11
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root 12 Aug 10 12:53 /usr/bin/X11 -> ../X11R6/bin
