Bug#354846: What's going on
This is realy two seperate problems. 1. i810 won't work if it's not the primary video - this may be impossible to fix as it needs the bios to work. 2. in Xorg 6.9 the memory map initialisation of Radeon cards is screwy, Benjamin Herrenschmidt is working on fixing it on Xorg 7.0 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#345454: Bug also appears after Sarge to Etch upgrade
I found the symptoms of this bug appeared when I upgraded from Sarge to Etch recently: discussion on debian-user about the issue starts here: http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2006/03/msg02077.html I got xserver-xorg version 6.9.0.dfsg.1-4 when I upgraded and, as the discussion above shows, appear to have a valid Xorg config. Bug#89703: marked as done (xlibs-data: [nls] want /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/locale/ko/Compose removed)
Your message dated Tue, 21 Mar 2006 04:33:12 -0800 with message-id [EMAIL PROTECTED] and subject line Bug#89703: fixed in xorg-x11 6.9.0.dfsg.1-5 has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I am talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) ---BeginMessage--- Package: xlibs Version: 4.0.2-7 Severity: normal The `Compose' files under /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/locale/LANG/ are not used in the complex languages, like CJKV. For those languages, separate XIM server (for example, kinput2 for Japanese and ami for Korean) handles all required to input. But if the Compose file is present, any XIM client program doesn't connect to the existing XIM server (ami for me) in default. I can force the connections by setting XMODIFIERS=@im=Ami. But it's unconvenient, and I think it makes ami violate the policy (the clients requires an envvar setting to use ami). So I propose to remove the Compose file at least for Korean language. The file helps nothing but just making newbies confuse. -- System Information Debian Release: testing/unstable Kernel Version: Linux hades.idis.co.kr 2.4.1 #1 Mon Feb 19 06:14:24 KST 2001 i686 unknown Versions of the packages xlibs depends on: ii libc6 2.2.2-1GNU C Library: Shared libraries and Timezone ii xfree86-common 4.0.2-7X Window System (XFree86) infrastructure ii xlibs 4.0.2-7X Window System client libraries ---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- Source: xorg-x11 Source-Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-5 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of xorg-x11, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: lbxproxy_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/lbxproxy_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libdmx-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libdmx-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libdmx1-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libdmx1-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libdmx1_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libdmx1_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libfs-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libfs-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libfs6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libfs6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libfs6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libfs6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libglu1-xorg-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libglu1-xorg-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libglu1-xorg-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libglu1-xorg-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libglu1-xorg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libglu1-xorg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libice-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libice-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libice6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libice6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libice6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libice6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libsm-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libsm-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libsm6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libsm6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libsm6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libsm6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libx11-6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libx11-6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libx11-6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libx11-6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libx11-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libx11-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxau-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxau-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxau6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxau6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxau6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxau6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw6-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw6-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw7-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw7-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw7-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw7-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw7_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw7_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw8-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw8-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw8-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw8-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw8_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw8_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb

Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) ---BeginMessage--- Package: xserver-xorg Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-4 Tags: patch Severity: wishlist To put it very bluntly, the new evdev driver is a regression in a number of ways, from lack of xkb support, to no way to configure mice handling, and most importantly, to the complete lack of any sane way to specify devices. This is not so easily fixed, but the patches contained in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5696 do the job nicely. Comments and suggestions are welcome, but, to be quite blunt, the current situation has obviously (see bugs #347681, #349586, #347950, #346460, #347677) caused problems with the userbase. The patch in question should bring things back up to spec. Zephaniah E. Hull. -- 1024D/E65A7801 Zephaniah E. Bug#127609: marked as done (xlibs-data: please add extra compose sequences for euro sign)
Your message dated Tue, 21 Mar 2006 04:33:12 -0800 with message-id [EMAIL PROTECTED] and subject line Bug#127609: fixed in xorg-x11 6.9.0.dfsg.1-5 has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I am talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) ---BeginMessage--- package: xlibs version: 4.1.0-11 severity: wishlist tags: patch At the moment, when using an iso8859-15 charset in X, only the following compose combinations generate a euro sign: E=, e=, C=, =C. It would be nice if also =E, =e, c= and =c would give a euro. This would also be more consistent with the current status for the pound, dollar cent and yen sign, for which also both lower and upper case letters are allowed and also the order of the two keys is not important. Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) ---BeginMessage--- Package: xserver-xorg Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-1 I run Debian unstable. Applications which do not use modern font display techniques, such as older GTKv1 applications (ie XMMS), Motif or Athena applications, render TrueType fonts very ugly. See this for an example: http://img252.imageshack.us/my.php?image=truetypefontsdebian1xr.png The culprit seems to be the following shared library: /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/fonts/libfreetype.so Replacing it with a libfreetype.so file from a similar (6.8.0) x.org package, compiled from source on a Fedora system, produces the following much improved result: http://img263.imageshack.us/my.php?image=debiantruetypefontsfixed5zr.png The font in both screenshots is the same: Verdana, as is the configuration and application (nedit). ---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- Source: xorg-x11 Source-Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-5 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of xorg-x11, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: lbxproxy_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/lbxproxy_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libdmx-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libdmx-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libdmx1-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libdmx1-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libdmx1_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libdmx1_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libfs-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libfs-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libfs6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libfs6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libfs6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libfs6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libglu1-xorg-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libglu1-xorg-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libglu1-xorg-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libglu1-xorg-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libglu1-xorg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libglu1-xorg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libice-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libice-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libice6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libice6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libice6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libice6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libsm-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libsm-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libsm6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libsm6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libsm6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libsm6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libx11-6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libx11-6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libx11-6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libx11-6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libx11-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libx11-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxau-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxau-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxau6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxau6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxau6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxau6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw6-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw6-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw6-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw6_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw7-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw7-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw7-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw7-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw7_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw7_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw8-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw8-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw8-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw8-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxaw8_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxaw8_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxcomposite-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxcomposite-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxcomposite1-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxcomposite1-dbg_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxcomposite1_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb to pool/main/x/xorg-x11/libxcomposite1_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb libxdamage-dev_6.9.0.dfsg.1-5_i386.deb

libx11 override disparity
There are disparities between your recently accepted upload and the override file for the following file(s): libx11-6-dbg_1.0.0-4_i386.deb: package says section is x11, override says libdevel. libx11-6-dbg_1.0.0-4_i386.deb: package says priority is optional, override says extra. libx11-6_1.0.0-4_i386.deb: package says section is x11, override says libs. libx11-dev_1.0.0-4_i386.deb: package says section is x11, override says libdevel. Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the override is incorrect then please reply to this mail and explain why. [NB: this is an automatically generated mail; if you replied to one like it before and have not received a response yet, please ignore this mail. Your reply needs to be processed by a human and will be in due course, but until then the installer will send these automated mails; sorry.] -- Debian distribution maintenance software (This message was generated automatically; if you believe that there is a problem with it please contact the archive administrators by mailing [EMAIL PROTECTED]) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. My Plan For Uploading Modular To Unstable
Hi everyone, So we're finally at the end of a very long line. At the end of this week I'm going to upload the whole of 7.0 to unstable. I've gotten the green light from the release team to do this, so I'm just going to go for it and we'll iron out whatever major bugs are blocking us from actually releasing this with etch. Here's the plan: 1) Wait for the latest upload of 6.9 to propagate to testing. Since this is a high urgency security upload it shouldn't take too long. 2) In the meantime I'm going to begin building packages to be uploaded to unstable. I'll tag the new versions as being for unstable in svn as I build them. As I build the packages, I'll be uploading them to my directory on people.debian.org. I won't be putting them in a web-accessible directory though, since this is just a staging area. 3) Once I have a complete collection of packages ready to upload from gluck, I'll sign and upload the .changes and .dsc files to the same location. 4) I'll do one last check with the release team before uploading. 5) Upload from gluck with its blazing fast bandwidth Fixes can keep rolling in during this time. I have no problem replacing something I've put in my directory on gluck with a new version containing a bugfix. I actually want to encourage this, since I'd like these packages to be in as good a shape as possible before they hit unstable. I'd love to hear comments on bugs I've forgotten and on the details for this plan. The end of this very long road is in sight, and we can begin working on less massive changes again. xorg override disparity
There are disparities between your recently accepted upload and the override file for the following file(s): libglu1-xorg_7.0.6_i386.deb: package says section is libdevel, override says libs. xlibmesa-dri_7.0.6_i386.deb: package says section is libdevel, override says x11. xlibmesa-gl_7.0.6_i386.deb: package says section is libdevel, override says libs. xlibs-data_7.0.6_i386.deb: package says section is x11, override says libs. Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the override is incorrect then please reply to this mail and explain why. Zephania is still working on getting a release of it out the door, so I've been waiting on him. I can ship a CVS pull of it, but it's second priority to getting this all in unstable. It'll be fairly trivial to do an updated package once we have the base to work from though. - David Nusinow -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
