Bug#358751: xserver-xorg: evdev with MX 1000 mouse doesn't work anymore

2006-03-24 Thread Christian Marillat
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-5
Severity: normal

Hi,

Since the latest release the evdev driver doesn't work with my Logitech
MX1000 mouse.

The error is :

(EE) PreInit returned NULL for MX1000

In the Mouse configuration

Option CorePointer

Is commented out otherwise the server doesn't start.

My mouse was working without problems before this release.

This was actually a bug in libxft-dev, which needed to predepend on
x11-common - #358308 and friends.

Hi David,

do you plan to upload the xorg package in its current state?
It will currently ftbfs on everything except amd64, hppa, i386, ia64,
powerpc and sparc (the list of video drivers needs to be added to
debian/scripts/vars.$arch for the other architectures).
This means that other packages are not buildable in the meantime,
because x11-common is now arch:any.

Cheers,

Could we just have xkb-data(-legacy) purge them instead?

No, our policy states that a package cannot touch conffiles of another
package.

We can have them conflict the xlibs as well. Is there really a need to
have an empty xlibs package just so we can use its postinst to purge
 the conffiles?

IMO, yes.

Bug#358907: libxvmc-dev: libXvMCW.so missing in package

2006-03-24 Thread Marc Lehmann
Package: libxvmc-dev
Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-4
Severity: important

The package doesn't contain libXvMCW.so, so all programs trying to link
against it will try to use the static version, in general excluding use of
libXvMCW in shared libraries.

Adding the link to libXvMCW.so.1 manually makes it work.
