/usr/share/X11/locale/el_GR.UTF-8/Compose is fixed in testing, and
symbols/gr is fixed in SVN, it will be uploaded very soon.

Package: xserver-xorg-video-i810
Version: 1:1.5.1.0-2
Severity: important

Since I upgraded my Toshiba Libretto U105 to use the new xserver-xorg
from unstable, Xorg will shift the graphical display contents by about
25 lines downwards and 768 pixels rightwards, wrapping lines around.
The result is not quite usable.

All in all that's 32768 pixels, at 4 bytes per pixel, a 128KiB offset.
This upper section of the screen is originally filled with contents of
the previous VT, and slowly being filled by regular patterns, about
26 pixels at a time, about one burst per second.

In the X log, I see notably:

(WW) I810(0): PRB0_CTL (0xf001) indicates ring buffer enabled

As far as I can tell, mode switching happens only through the BIOS,
and the attempt to offset the framebuffer away from the start of the
video memory may well be ill-fated. In any case, this ring buffer
allocation seems to me as being premature and causing the bug.

I haven't kept logs from previous working versions of the server;
if the information may help you, I'll send it when I have successfully
downgraded my xserver (ouch, a whole lot of stuff needs to be co-downgraded).

The new version of the i810 X.org driver in Debian since August seems to
fix these problems.

It's the first version since the X.org 6.8.2 package in Debian which is
able to display an ungarbled desktop on my system or doesn't crash
immediately on server start.

Very nice. :-)))

Greetings,

Bug#362100: Same problem here

2006-09-26 Thread César
Hello, I have the same problem for months.
I use an up-to-date Debian unstable.

I can provide my config files if you are interested and some debug info
if you instruct me on how to get it.

Regards,

  César

IIRC, switching from 16bpp to 24bpp mode fixed this issue for me.
Try that, or vice versa.

[Bug?] xorg dependencies make installation of libgl1-mesa-swx11 impossible

2006-09-26 Thread Marc-Jano Knopp
Hi!

This looks like a bug, but I'm not sure about it, so before reporting
it, I want to ask about it here:

I'm using Etch on a box with a Matrox G450. As running glxgears using
libgl1-mesa-dri crashed my box a while ago (only Alt-SysRq-... worked),
I wanted to install libgl1-mesa-swx11 again.

But with xorg 1:7.0.22, I cannot install "libgl1-mesa-swx11" (see
transcript at the end of this mail).

xorg depends on libgl1-mesa-glx, which provides "libgl1" and thus
conflicts with libgl1-mesa-swx11, which also provides "libgl1".

Is this a bug, or did I miss something? Should xorg only depend on
"libgl1", or shouldn't libgl1-mesa-dri and -swx11 provide "libgl1"?

If it's a bug, should I use reportbug to report it officially?

Best regards

Bug#389335: same here

2006-09-26 Thread David A.

I believe I'm hit by this bug to.
I also believe #389416 is a dupe of this bug.

I see there is a patch submitted and I hope the bug will be fixed
soon. Is there an ETA?

I didn't manage how to revert to an older version of the package.
My workaround;

1) install xserver-xorg-video-vesa
2) backup /etc/X11/xorg.conf
3) edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and use "vesa" as driver instead;

Section "Device"
Identifier "VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8623 [Apollo CLE266]
integrated
CastleRock graphics"
Driver "vesa"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
Option "UseFBDev""true"
EndSection

redagrds,
David.

Bug#389594: xserver-xorg: wrong sync range selected

2006-09-26 Thread mk71a

Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.1.0-1
Severity: normal

I' have a Matrox G400 video card:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA G400/G450 (rev 04)
(prog-if 00 [VGA])
Subsystem: Matrox Graphics, Inc. Millennium G400 16Mb SDRAM
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 193
Memory at f600 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=32M]
Memory at f400 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Memory at f380 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8M]
Expansion ROM at f5ff [disabled] [size=64K]
Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [f0] AGP version 2.0

On statrtup the only video mode with correct timings is 1152x864 @ 75Hz.
Selecting other modes will generate incorrect timing, different from
the specified one with a vertical refresh way higher than the normal.
For instance 640 x 480 @ 85Hz has a vertical refresh of 127 Hz: seems that
the dot clock is set to the maximum allowable.
Inserting custom modeline in xorg.conf doesn't work,

OpenGL stopped working, but I'm not sure is is related to the bug or
is because I've rebuilt xorg.conf from scratch with dpkg-reconfigure.
I had to use a configuration like this in the Device section to make
OpenGL work:

Option "OldDmaInit" "true"
Option "AGPMode" "4"
Option "NoHal" "true"

Also the ctrl-alt-grey+ / ctrl-alt-grey- stopped working, but using
the change menu from kde works with still wrong timings.

Bug#389589: XkbModel: pc105 broken

2006-09-26 Thread Robert Bihlmeyer
Package: xkb-data
Version: 0.8-13
Severity: normal

>From my xorg.conf:

  Section "InputDevice"
  Identifier"Generic Keyboard"
  Driver"keyboard"
  Option"CoreKeyboard"
  Option"XkbRules" "xorg"
  Option"XkbModel" "pc105"
  Option"XkbLayout" "de"
  Option"XkbVariant""nodeadkeys"
  Option"XkbOptions""altwin:super_win"
  EndSection

But even though pc105 is specified, the key with < > | on it does nothing.

  $ setxkbmap -v 7
  Applied rules from xorg:
  model: pc105
  layout: de
  variant:nodeadkeys
  options:altwin:super_win
Trying to build keymap using the following components:
  keycodes: xfree86+aliases(qwertz)
  types: complete
  compat: complete
  symbols:pc+de(nodeadkeys)+altwin(super_win)
  geometry: pc(pc105)

So it seems the xorg rules now incorrectly map model "pc105" and layout "de" to
symbols "pc+de" and not "pc(pc105)+de" as before. Looks like line 270 from
/usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/xorg is to blame for that:

  * *   =   pc+%l%(v)

The corresponding line (374) from the same file from xkb-data 0.8-12 reads:

  * *   =   pc(pc105)+%l%(v)

(actually for my case line 372 from this file should match:)

  $pcmodels * = pc(%m)+%l%(v)

Anyway, the additional key works with this version and does not anymore.

A temporary fix is:

  $ setxkbmap -v 7 -symbols 'pc(pc105)+de(nodeadkeys)+altwin(super_win)'
  Warning! Multiple definitions of symbols
Using command line, ignoring rules file
  Applied rules from xorg:
  model: pc105
  layout: de
  variant:nodeadkeys
  options:altwin:super_win
Trying to build keymap using the following components:
  keycodes: xfree86+aliases(qwertz)
  types: complete
  compat: complete
  symbols:pc(pc105)+de(nodeadkeys)+altwin(super_win)
  geometry: pc(pc105)

Changing line 270 back to

  * *   =   pc(pc105)+%l%(v)

fixes it for good. But I guess the whole section should be changed
back ... or the symbols/pc file modified to always include 105 keys.

TIA,
Robbe

Michel Dänzer wrote:

No, it works, but this driver is almost unusable with my card: it
supports max 8bit colour, so GNUstep apps won't run, and it totally
messes the console colours making it garbled. I use pure console and
GNUstep a lot.

Removing the "glx" module doesn't help with the "vesa" driver, but I
don't need that anyway so thanks for the hint.

Bug#389576: XIO: fatal IO error 104

2006-09-26 Thread Vladimir Stavrinov
Package: xserver-xorg-core
Version: 2:1.1.1-7
Severity: normal

SYMPTOM: Lock xsession with xlock, switch to another virtual console and
after few minutes switch back to xsession. At this point xserver crash
and write to the ~/.xsession-errors:

XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
after 3149196 requests (3146806 known processed) with 0 events
  remaining.

The same behavior I see on other machine. This problem arise after few
updates of xserver last week. May be it concern another xservers
package, not this. Don't know.

I have the same card and the current situation is much better than with the
old version. But the text displayed by googleearth still flickers. Do you
have the same problem?

The author of DEHS just confirmed that DEHS uses a package's watch file to
generate the information. I assume the QA page does the same. Thus the watch
columns should become active once the packages are uploaded with the watch
files.

Most packages in the trunk should now have watch files. There are a few
exceptions:

  - app/xterm: I only just saw that upstream keeps old versions on the FTP
server, so I'll add this right away.

  - app/xbase-clients, app/xprint-utils, app/xutils, util/xutils-dev and
font/*: these are collections of more than one upstream package and I
haven't yet figured out how to tell uscan to account for that.

  - app/mesa-utils, lib/mesa: since Mesa is not an XSF package, I haven't
  added watch-files to these.

  - data/xkb-data-legacy: not provided by upstream anymore.

  - doc/xorg-sgml-doctools-X11R7.0-1.0.1 and doc/xorg-docs-X11R7.0-1.0.1:
maybe these should be renamed to xorg-sgml-doctools and xorg-docs
  respectively?

  - driver/xserver-xorg-video-ast: this directory doesn't contain any Debian
packaging files, so no need to add a watch file.

For the above, I used a small script (available here[0]) which can check all
the packages against the watch file (using uscan) and scan for missing watch
files. It can also generate a "dummy" watch file if none exists yet, but that
usually requires manual tweaking.

One idea I was playing with was to enhance the script so that it would send
an email notification of new upstream releases, then run the script as a
cronjob. I'm not sure how useful this would be, though.

Bug#387281: xserver-xorg 1:7.0.22 display termination

Hi,

I was wondering why my bug submission has been ignored? Is there a
simple fix or are people working on it? I realise that my reference to a
commercial application like Matlab might turn people off. However, it
worked before the upgrade.

Thanks,
