Re: IVTV X driver

2006-11-10 Thread Ian Campbell
Hi David,

Are you still happy to sponsor the IVTV X driver?

Is there anything you'd like me to do to make things easier for you?
For example with my other package my sponsor just takes them direct from
SVN but it looks like it is a bit more work for X modules since there
are a few more manual steps so if you would like me to put together
a .dsc/.diff.gz/.orig.tar.gz set I'm happy to do that.

Cheers,
Ian.

 Hi David,

After a bit of hacking I finally got the ivtv X driver to work with
X.org 7.1. The dev community have been kicking the tyres for about a
week now and it seemed to work fine for everyone who tried it so I think
 it is ready for unstable.

I've checked everything in to SVN in driver/xserver-xorg-video-ivtvdev.
Currently this includes the X.org 7.1 patch but upstream has told me
they will look at merging it. That might take a while though, he needs
to upgrade from some ancient version of X first, so I'd rather ship the
 patched version for now.

 Thanks,
 Ian.

Bug#397323: Info received (Follow-up: AltGr key not working anymore)

2006-11-10 Thread Pascal Dupuis
Follow-up. I did a
strace /usr/X11R6/bin/X 21 | tee xorg.trace

While greping through xorg.trace, I found
write(12, xkb_keymap \default\ {\nxkb_k..., 311) = 311
close(12The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:

) = 0

A quick look at /var/lib showed there was no /var/lib/xkb
directory. Addind one solved the problem.

May I suggest the xkb-data maintainers to ensure that there exist the
right directory in order for xkbcomp to generate its keymap ?

TIA

Bug#359006: xterm: unicode glyph rendering glitch

2006-11-10 Thread Thomas Dickey
On Fri, Nov 10, 2006 at 03:00:11AM +0100, Samuel Thibault wrote:
 Hi,

By doing this (putting a mail-like in front of U+2218), you're making
vim output U+2218 in bold font (because the mail syntax expresses a
color that result into bold font in your vim configuration). Then xterm
has to draw a bold U+2218. The problem is that for this you need a bold
font that holds U+2218, and it seems your system doesn't have any (just
like mine, actually), so xterm can't do much.

From the context, it sounds as if the font contains other glyphs that work.
I might be able to improve it by making xterm check if the normal/bold
fonts contain a different number of glyphs, and in that case add some
checks to use the normal glyph when the bold one is missing.

Bug#397915: xserver-xorg -english keyboard missing pipe symbol

2006-11-10 Thread Mgr. Peter Tuharsky

Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.1.0-5

I have upgraded my Etch yesterday. Since then, I cannot access the pipes
symbol. When I press the backslash resp. pipes key, I always get the ň
or ) (depending on Shift pressed). This was alright for localised SK
keyboard, however is not alright for US keyboard.

Happens both under GNOME and IceWM. Never met this behaviour before.
Looks like keyboard map is broken since the last upgrade.

2006-11-10 Thread mia
Package: xorg
Version: 1:7.1.0-5
Severity: normal

since the last upgrade from 7.0 to 7.1 my box freezes from time to time. first
i thought it's kernel
related, then i upgraded from 2.6.17 to 2.6.18 but the
problem remained. it is triggered by inactivity. i already disactivated
xscreensaver, but that did not help either.

2006-11-10 Thread Angeline Davila
Hello!

Now he he doesn't look too.

that I am such a slob.
Just think of all the energy
School is closed now, what's it to ya?
I was in for a surprise.
Like history and math.
that I would like to make.
I wasted through the night.
I feel so very guilty.
that I am such a slob.
We have painted all the toilets black
and itchy skin with blisters-
Cause Freddie does it for me!
School is closed now, what's it to ya?
I watched TV instead-
Like history and math.
I did a lousy job.
and cinnamon raisin bread.
I didn't turn the TV off.
I didn't shut the light.
I didn't clean the mess.
I'm sure my heart will break.
My friends all stared and pointed.
I didn't wash the dishes.

Bug#207832: There once was a person named Paul,

2006-11-10 Thread Vanessa Shepard
Hello!

Êuse everyone could get it, too.

There won't be school no more.
I watched TV instead-
I'm sure my heart will break.
My friends all started laughing,
Like history and math.
with some very painful sneezing,
I give him all my homework,
and there won't be no more tests.
and all the lockers white.
And then I got a second pinch.
And then I felt a third and fourth.
Cause Freddie does it for me!
When I got on the school bus,
If I don't get it off my chest
Which makes my parents glad.
I didn't clean the mess.
I was in for a surprise.
that I am such a slob.
malaria and toothaches,
I had asthma and was wheezing.
Glory, glory hallelujah!
We have painted all the toilets black
I'm sure my heart will break.

Bug#203461: With no safe place to land

2006-11-10 Thread Nell Mcwilliams
Hi!

Smoked six packs a day.

I had nosebleeds, measles, heat rash,
and a patch of poison ivy,
and there won't be no more tests.
A nice warm bubble bath!
I asked, Why are you pinching me?
A kid who sat in front of me
School is closed now, what's it to ya?
And when he's done I give him
I wasted through the night.
My grades are so much better now,
I have a brief confession
He greets me at the door each day
When I got on the school bus,
I hope my students don't find out
When I come home from school.
I watched TV instead-
No, I really don't see how.
Could I have done my homework?
I didn't clean the mess.
and a broken leg with scabies,
There was mischief in their eyes.
I give him all my homework,
while munching cookies, cakes, and chips

Bug#397956: xserver-xorg-core: Xorg man page claims to be for X11R6

2006-11-10 Thread Ross Boylan
Package: xserver-xorg-core
Version: 2:1.1.1-10
Severity: minor

The first line of the Xorg.1 man page says
Name Xorg - X11R6 X Server

I take it from this news item
xserver-xorg-core (1:1.0.2-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * With the latest updates of Xorg, we have transitioned from X11R6 to
X11R7.
that it should say R7. Or am I missing something?

Probably needs to be fixed upstream.

Bug#393266: Same error on a Thinkpad T23

2006-11-10 Thread Glyn Tebbutt
I'd like to report also that the error occurs on my Think pad (same
model and spec as Marc GASNOT).
I tested this both on a 1 year old testing install and a clean etch
install. I also tested the new Ubuntu Linux (6.10) just to see if it is
also effected. The bug doesn't appear to happen.
I don't know if this is something to do with the mesa lib packages.
If there is any more information needed or could be of help please let
me know.
Cheers
Glyn

Bug#397934: freezing, does turning off acpi help?

2006-11-10 Thread Steven Ponsford

Package: xorg
Followup-For: Bug #397934

I noticed from your log output

Kernel command line: auto BOOT_IMAGE=Linux ro root=342 noacpi splash

the 'noacpi' option is given but that acpi is still activated according
to your log output.

...
ACPI: PCI Interrupt :01:00.0[A] - Link [LNKA] - GSI 10 (level,
low) - IRQ 10

...

What is the proper way to deactivate acpi?
I have almost the same G400 with SGRAM

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA G400/G450
(rev 04) (prog-if 00 [VGA])

Subsystem: Matrox Graphics, Inc. Millennium G400 16Mb SGRAM
Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop-
ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B-
Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium
TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR-

Latency: 32 (4000ns min, 8000ns max), Cache Line Size: 32 bytes
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 11
Region 0: Memory at e400 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=32M]
Region 1: Memory at e600 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Region 2: Memory at e700 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8M]
[virtual] Expansion ROM at e601 [disabled] [size=64K]
Capabilities: access denied

but have no acpi running, deactivated it in bios. But I remember when I
was testing acpi on my motherboard the commandline I used, was I think
'acpi=off' to turn it off completely and 'pci=noacpi' to turn it off for
just pci. I don't have acpi activated and haven't experienced freezes
like this. Could this be caused by an acpi bug since it seems to be
triggered by inactivity?
