Update serverabi generation to also account for driver Provides

* Have the drivers use the file serverminver instead of serverabiver in
order
to generate the versioned dependency on the server. This is clearer
  naming.
* Use serverabiver to actually store the server's video ABI version. This
is used to generate the Provides: line for drivers so the server can
depend on them properly. This goes in to the substvar
  xviddriver:Provides.

Well, that was certainly interesting. I guess it helps, but I'm not
quite sure why... see the typescript below to see what I mean.
Essentially, nothing changed -- except that now it works. I dunno...
Feel free to close this now; although, if you would like me to do some
more investigation I'd be happy to assist in any way I can.

Of course, now I have a different, unrelated problem. I guess it's time
for another bug report.

Bug#424743: X11 pen driver doesn't work on tabletPC Fujitsu Stylistic 2300 (fix included)

2007-05-16 Thread wri-ano
Package: xserver-xorg-input-fpit
Version: 1:1.1.0-1
Severity: important

On this old TabletPC (Fujitsu Stylistic 2300), the pointing
device is a pen with
a button on the tip, and another button on the side.
This device is attached to a serial line : ttyS3.
(on a side note, the user needs to configure this line as irq
15 port 0xfce18 and baudbase 115200 with setserial, which is
no obvious)

problem:
neither button is recognized in X ("xev" catch no
buton-related events, a press on a button == strictly nothing
in xev output)
However, mouvements are correctly caught.
using community debugging programs (pentest.c), I checked that
the pen correctly
  sends the buttons events.

Fix:
in source package, file src/xf86Fpit.c , line 91, in "#define
PROXIMITY_BIT 0x20
   " ... replacing 0x20 with 0x40 fixed the problem.
Indeed, according to the comments in the file itself, it was
previously changed the other way round. So my guess is that
other Fujitsu Stylistic may use alternate technology. Some
kind of debconf choice may help.

Thanks for your work,

Jean marc Bourdaret

preliminary packaging for xbase-clients split done

2007-05-16 Thread Timo Aaltonen

Hi

As you've probably noticed, I've pushed some packages to git.d.o which
have been made according to the plan (*). Also the source package has been
split, since that would hopefully make it easier to triage bugs,
and also makes updates smaller when some component is changed.

This is just a start, but they should build fine. Possibly some
Replaces-trickery is needed to make upgrades smooth. Note that the
versioning is not necessarily final; we discussed about it breafly with
Julien and decided to start from '1' for now. Comments are welcome as
always.

pushed packages so far:
x11-apps
x11-utils
x11-xkb-utils
x11-xserver-utils

yet to be done:
xauth
xinit
xsm
xfs (add packages from xutils/xbase-clients)

poke at will!

Could you look at

Might be related to #420860 (but the whole stack is not exactely the
same). To get a nice backtrace, you should install xserver-xorg-core-dbg
and attach a gdb through ssh before the crash:
ssh
gdb -p $(pidof X)

gdb> bt full

No need to be sorry :)

It might be related to #420421. We have a patch to apply to fix it.

> This backtrace is somewhat bad. Can I somehow improve it?
>

You'll have to rebuild xserver-xephyr with debugging enabled. See
http://wiki.debian.org/HowToGetABacktrace and replace hello with
xserver-xephyr. Or you can wait and see first whether the patch above
fixes your bug too.

   * Add 24_hurd_ioperm_fix.diff to fix xf86Enable/DisableIO on Hurd with
recent GNU Mach. Thanks Samuel Thibault!
   * Add 06_use_proc_instead_of_sysfs_for_pci_domains.diff since sysfs-based
PCI management code is broken at least on sparc and powerpc.
Closes: #422077, #422095. Thanks to Jim Watson for testing!

Package: xprint

Hi,

when I do this :
20:55 [EMAIL PROTECTED] # /etc/init.d/xprint stop
Stopping Xprint servers: Xprt.
20:55 [EMAIL PROTECTED] # /etc/init.d/xprint start
Starting Xprint servers: Xprt.
find: /usr/lib/X11/fonts: Aucun fichier ou répertoire de ce type

It's normal, I don't have this directory anymore...

Why Xprint looks at this directory ? The default one for the fonts is now in
/usr/share, isn't it ?

Thx for your work!
Regards,
Guillaume

Package: xserver-xephyr
Version: 2:1.1.1-10
Severity: wishlist

It would be great if some documentation for Xephyr could be included
in the xserver-xephyr package; perhaps a manual page, or the Xephyr
README[1], or anything else that could help someone unfamiliar with
Xephyr get started. Even adding a few common Xephyr invocations to
the Xephyr --help output might be enough, although somewhat terse.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello,

The xorg.conf (5x) man page says, near the bottom:

For an example of an xorg.conf file, see the file installed as
   /usr/lib/X11/xorg.conf.eg.

However, this file does not seem to be shipped in any of the xorg-related
packages (unless maybe it is renamed to something completely different).
Please either ship the file, or fix the man page not to reference it
(preferably the former).

Error message from /var/log/gdm/:0.log: /usr/bin/X: symbol lookup error:
usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/glint_drv.so: undefined symbol:
RamDacCreateInfoRec

This error occurs when gdm starts (or tries to start).
The glint driver hasn't been updated in quite some time, but worked
under an earlier version.

Either the glint driver package (xserver-xorg-video-glint, currently
version 1:1.1.1-3) needs to be updated to not require the symbol
RamDacCreateInfoRec, or xserver-xorg-core needs to put the symbol back.

Hi,

I'm using nvidia video adapter with dual screen setup: one is LCD panel
(1440x900) and another one is TV (800x600). They are separate screens (no
TwinView) and Xinerama is disabled in xorg.conf. But after latest xorg
upgrade I've noticed that Xinerama is enabled on both screens and that the
Xinerama screen dimensions are wrong. Here's the proof:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] 09:12:57 xineramainfo]$ DISPLAY=:0.0 ./xinerama-info
Xinerama is enabled on :0.0 (1 screen(s) available)
Xinerama screen 0: 1440x900+0+0
[EMAIL PROTECTED] 09:15:30 xineramainfo]$ DISPLAY=:0.1 ./xinerama-info
Xinerama is enabled on :0.1 (1 screen(s) available)
Xinerama screen 0: 1440x900+0+0

xinerama-info is a simple C program, which queries Xinerama info from the
server. I'm attaching its source just in case. Also attached is gzipped
xdpyinfo output.

Please note that this likely has nothing to do with nvidia drivers, since when
I was using 1.2 version of xserver-xorg-core everything was fine, and with
1.2.999 I had exactly the same issue.

Thanks,
Roman

xfs is a daemon that listens on a network port and serves X fonts to X
servers (and thus to X clients). All X servers have the ability to serve
locally installed fonts for themselves, but xfs makes it possible to offload
that job from the X server, and/or have a central repository of fonts on a
networked machine running xfs so that all the machines running X servers on a
network do not require their own set of fonts. xfs may also be invoked by
users to, for instance, make available X fonts in user accounts that are not
available to the X server or to an already running system xfs.

Package: xserver-xephyr
Version: 2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-4
Severity: normal

First of all thanks for fixing #405928!

I however managed to find a new bug. (Sorry)

Steps to reproduce:
Start Xephyr display :n, start xterm on :n, terminating the xterm should
result in the segfault below.

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/debug/ gdb Xephyr
...
(gdb) run :1
Starting program: /usr/bin/Xephyr :1

This backtrace is somewhat bad. Can I somehow improve it?

hi,

while doing an archive wide package rebuild your package failed to build from
source for the following reason:

this seems like a bug in libxt-dev, im therefore assigning this bug to both
packages for now, please reassign to libxt-dev if apropriate.
