Bug#156115: xserver-xorg-core: X server lists scalable fonts with fixed font names, and before real fixed fonts
Hi Massimo, It looks like this problem with fixed fonts being listed after scalable fonts with fixed names still apply today. Does it still matter? If so, we should probably talk to upstream about it instead of keeping it here for another 5 years :) Brice -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#425882: 2:2.0.0-2 looks the same for me + suggestion
D G wrote: By the way: a bug for 2:2.0.0-2: when you wander onto an inactive window, the mouse pointer disappears. Please do not mix reports since it messes up the contents of the original bug, while this new bug will end up being forgotten. If this problem still happens with latest 2:2.0.0-3 that has been uploaded recently, feel free to file a new bug report. Anyway, I have downgraded to the driver in unstable, bacause of serious problems with the one in experimental (eg, ctrl+alt+F1 and you are done :-) ). That's another unrelated bug, right? Feel free to file another report about this (or add a followup to the existing driver crashes). I am sure resizing windows is supposed to be fast as of now. Lots of people have seen it being slow, remember: with the obsolete -modesetting driver, that is OK. Maybe this one needs rechecking and see which feature from the obsolete one is missing in the new one (but be careful, with -modesetting, the colours of the AVI were horrible). There have been lots of changes since the old modesetting driver, I might be hard to locate where the problem appeared... What about videos outside of both beryl and compiz ? OK, but after installing xine from experimental. With the one in unstable, the image freezes after a few seconds (on metacity, in Beryl it crashes from the beginning). Does the crash report any X-related error in the terminal where you launched Xine? Which video plugin are you using when playing these videos? For instance, in mplayer, you can do mplayer -vo x11 foo.avi to use the x11 plugin. Please try at least x11 and xv. Wow! With x11, even on Beryl, mplayer works! But it is the only one that works in beryl. Totem (with xine) and vlc hang. Idem gmplayer with xv. Ok, might be yet another XV problem then. Please try with 2:2.0.0-3, it got some new XV-relate fixes. VO: [xv] 320x240 = 320x240 Planar YV12 [ws] Error in display. [ws] Error code: 11 ( BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation) ) [ws] Request code: 141 [ws] Minor code: 19 [ws] Modules: flip_page And another resource allocation problem... Bug#407036: xserver-xorg: Server crashes each time after hibernate with suspend2
Hi Brice, yes the X server still crashes every few times on resume from suspend to memory with that that xserver-xorg-core package. I have tried to attach gdb to the X server, in virtual console but can't get that to work. Killing xscreensaver helps but still doesn't work, so I can't get a crash report. Bug#256344: marked as done (xserver-xfree86: [vesa] SEGV selecting 'tixus' or 'drift' fonts)
Your message dated Wed, 30 May 2007 18:49:49 +0200 with message-id [EMAIL PROTECTED] and subject line ping timeout, closing has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I am talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) ---BeginMessage--- Package: xserver-xfree86 Version: 4.1.0-16woody3 Severity: normal The X server immediately and reliably crashes when I select either font 'Drift' or 'Tixus' (from xfonts-artwiz 1.4) in a Tcl/Tk client (Trebuchet, a MUD client). It seems that the rendering in the preview pane causes this. I normally use the NVIDIA driver, so I switched to the VESA driver and the crash still happens. If I select 'tixus' in Galeon it doesn't crash, so perhaps this is a missing range-check in the font system? forwarded 394687 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11106 thank you Dietrich Clauss wrote: Yes, it still happens with xserver-xorg-core 2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-3 and video-tseng 1:1.1.0-3. Ok, thanks. Since upstream apparently only fixed something for ET6000 since 1.1.0, I guess the bug still appears in driver 1.1.1 and also in git. So I forwarded the bug upstream at the URL above. Bug#394687: ICS GenDAC support indeed removed.
Hi, This support was indeed removed when rewriting the Tsengs rather nasty and illogical ramdac code. In the year-long run-up to this rewrite, I only was able to get my hands on a few tseng devices (they are very very very rare these days) and only got to test ET4000W32p with STG1703 and CH8398, which are both implemented. Like one other DAC, the ICS GenDAC was indeed not re-added. I will look into this in a few days time and will write the support for it, earliest would be thursdaynight or friday, but it will probably have to be postponed until next week. This new code will require some testing and thus some involvement from your side. Luc Verhaegen. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Packaging xvattr with other Xv tools
Hello, in striving to get Xv working successfully (given its current issues in the intel driver), the upstream developers have indicated that a program called xvattr could be useful for manipulating Xv properties, such as the pipe used for the video display. This would complement the existing xvinfo, which simply displays the Xv properties. xvattr may be found at http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/downloads.shtml It's GPL so packaging should be safe for us. I would like to place it into our XSF git (I won't agitate to include it upstream - too much of a headache to argue between GPL vs MIT licensing). I think the appropriate place for it would be the same package which provides xvinfo. If no one has any objections, I'll insert it there soon, maybe next week.
