thanks

Now that this terminal testing package might be DFSG free, isn't it
worth looking at again? It might be a good test suite application for
auto-testing xterm and other terminals?

I've been travelling and just got back. There was a bug earlier,
which seems to have been fixed; it works great now (with the exception
of #432435, just filed).

Yes, please close this bug.

Bug#432458: xserver-xorg-video-amd: wrong dependency on xserver-xorg-core

2007-07-09 Thread Julien Cristau
Package: xserver-xorg-video-amd
Version: 2.7.6.5+20070208-1
Severity: serious

xserver-xorg-video-amd has a dependency on xserver-xorg-core (>=
1:1.1.1), which is wrong because the minor ABI version number has
changed between 1.1.1 and 1.3.0 so loading this driver with
xserver-xorg-core 1.1.1 will fail.

Please use /usr/share/xserver-xorg/serverminver to generate your
dependency on xserver-xorg-core, as other X drivers are doing.

Cheers,
Julien

Bug#320828: xserver-xorg: Sometimes crashes in ATI driver when resizing XV window

Seems to work fine for me; I can't get Xorg to crash by resizing mplayer
anymore.

Obviously, the XV output isn't updated anymore when mplayer is less than
16 pixels high, but that seems perfectly acceptable to me - who wants to
watch video that way anyway?

Interesting. I never really read the docs properly, I just skimmed
them [= man radeon] and followed the instructions at
[http://ozlabs.org/~jk/docs/mergefb/], which worked just fine.

When I have the time, I'll take a look at your xorg.conf [and the man

Apart from that, I'll let the xkb-data maintainer reply :)

Bug#320828: xserver-xorg: Sometimes crashes in ATI driver when resizing XV window

2007-07-09 Thread Brice Goglin
Could you guys try the following (untested) patch which should summarize
what has been said here and in the upstream bug?

Bug#432051: xserver-xorg-video-i810: fails to start on a mobo with a Intel Corporation G965 Integrated Graphics and 8MB of videoram

The '(**)' indicates the value is specified in xorg.conf. The VideoRam
directive can only decrease the amount of memory available for graphics
with current xserver-xorg-video-intel, so it should not be present
normally.

Bug#432297: xkb-data: key generates with de+nodeadkey on PC keyboard (as in #241127)

2007-07-09 Thread Andreas Metzler
Package: xkb-data
Version: 0.9-4
Severity: normal

Hello,

after ugrading to etch I have refound #241127 (now in xkb-data instead
of XFree86). With this setup:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
Driver "kbd"
Option "CoreKeyboard"
Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout" "de"
Option "XkbVariant""nodeadkeys"
Option "XkbOptions""compose:menu"
EndSection

The key (between "scharfes s" and backspace on a german
keyboard) produces a acute accent over space instead of
apostrophe/singlequote. Please fix this to produce an apostrophe.

Patch is simple afaiui:

 key  { [  plus,   asterisk,   asciitilde,   macron ] };
 key  { [odiaeresis, Odiaeresis,  doubleacute,  doubleacute ] };

A single acute has no use, it is afaik always the wrong
character both in German and English language. Most people confuse it
with the apostroph and will accidentally type stuff like can´t instead
of can't. Apostrophe otoh is a frequently used character, especially
as single-quote.

This is also inconsistent with linux-console (de-latin1-nodeadkeys.kmap.gz)

Ok.

As requested by upstream, I am changing the upstream bug where we point
to the one above (same lockup trace appears starting at comment #7).

The problem started after a recent update in Testing, and also applies
to unstable. I can only alter touchpad config (eg enable/disable
touchpad) by editing xorg.conf and restarting x. I have two laptops, a
sony and a toshiba, and the problem applies to both of them.
Here's xorg.conf on the sony:

I am going to forward the bug upstream, but first I need to be sure it
still occurs with latest Xserver and drivers.

Did/can you try with xserver-xorg-core 1.3 and newport driver 0.2.1
(both are currently in testing and unstable)?

Thanks,
Brice
