Once the Xserver will support dynamic allocation of the Virtual space,
it will be trivial to add outputs dynamically without having to change
xorg.conf (right now you often have to change the Virtual line manually).
But it will take time for this to happen since it requires TTM first.

Do you still have this problem with latest xserver-xorg? (1:7.3+6 is in
unstable, 1:7.3+7 just got uploaded there too).

'reopen' may be inappropriate when a bug has been closed with a version;
you may need to use 'found' to remove fixed versions.

Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.3+6
Severity: serious

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Installing a base Etch system (just the base, no X or fancy stuff),
migrating to Sid, and then apt-get installing xorg will install X
succesfully but will make it useless because of /etc/X11/X pointing
to /bin/true. GDM will fail showing an empty log. X will exit without
any output ('true' is not really verbose). xinit and startx will fail
with misterious errors like "server error" or "connection timed out".

Calling Xorg directly on the console works fine. The problem can be
fixed by linking /etc/X11/X to /usr/bin/Xorg.

Bug#453069: Xorg server crashes when compositing is enabled

2007-11-26 Thread Matthias Berndt
Package: libxcomposite1
Version: 1:0.3.2-1+b1
Severity: important

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
The Xorg server crashes under certain circumstances on my system when
compositing is enabled, both with the "nv" driver and nvidias binary "nvidia"
driver.

To reproduce, I do the following on my system:
1. enable compositing for kwin (to do this, run "kcmshell kwinoptions" and
enable Tranparency and drop shadows there).
2. start yakuake (a quake-style terminal emulator for KDE).
3. in a yakuake terminal, start mplayer with some audio file.
4. Open a new tab in yakuake (Ctrl-Alt-N).
5. hide yakuake (by pressing F12).
Xorg now crashes.

I've made a core dump, but it's 22MB and I don't know if debians bug tracking
system can handle this. So I decided to upload it to rapidshare instead.

Bug#453054: EXA doesn't work.

2007-11-26 Thread Matthias Berndt
Package: xserver-xorg-video-nv
Version: 1:2.1.6-1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
In the nv man page, it says:

Option "AccelMethod" "string"
Choose acceleration architecture, either "XAA" or "EXA".

In my xorg.conf i have the line
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
and it doesn't work. From Xorg.0.log:
(WW) NV(0): Option "AccelMethod" is not used

So either the man page or something else is broken here.

And the attachment

Hi Brice,

The mesa updates came through to the uk testing repo, so i installed and
tested.
Unfortunately, blender still crashes before it gets going - but now the
details given by 'bt full' in gdb refer to the radeon driver.

I have attached the output from gdb.

Let me know if there is anything else you want me to do to gather info
on this problem.

Seems like it is probably a dupe of #451570 then. I've attached a log
of my Xserver crashing when I reinstate the Virtual line...

Thanks,
Andrew McMillan.

Bug#452983: xserver-xorg: X server doesn't start per 'Modes' setting in xorg.conf

2007-11-26 Thread Elimar Riesebieter
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.3+6
Severity: normal

X doesn't respect Modes settings in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. The Monitor
does support 1600x1200 but starts with 1280x1024. I suppose this has
sommething to do with the new auto setting feature, which I do not
prefer ;)

No, it doesn't help. Same behaviour.

By the way, all 3 mentioned cases are seem to be with logitech mouses
(MX 310, Logitech MX Revolution and some Logitech USB mouse of K.

Yes, unfortunately the problem isn't solved. Addicted to that, when i firstly
login the mouse doesn't move, but suspend-to-ram && resume bring the mouse
back, but without scrolling.

Bug#451989: sleep 222; /etc/init.d/xdm stop won't

By the way, I recall doing something like
# /etc/init.d/xdm start; sleep 222; /etc/init.d/xdm stop
doesn't stop the (certainly wedged by that time) monster.
On still has to hit the power button, (stopping the disks too, as I
don't know where the "reset" button is on my Thinkpad r50e.)

Ok, I'll try it soon, but...
I know of same problem with gentoo, xorg 1.4-r2 ("-r2" -
gentoo-specific), x86-input-evdev 1.1.5-r2 works, 1.2.0 doesn't.

Bug#452959: xserver-xorg-core 1.4.1 introduces two new displaying errors

2007-11-26 Thread Evgeni Golov
Package: xserver-xorg-core
Version: 2:1.4.1~git20071119-1

Hi,

since the upgrade from 2:1.4-3 my iceweasel has two nice displaying
errors:
- the tab-close button of the active tab is one pixel too high after
moving the mouse over it
(http://files.die-welt.net/2007-11-25-223855_1024x768_scrot.png)
- the upper half of the fonts in the content is shifted one pixel to
the right (or left)

The first one occurs always, the second one only randomly (this is why
I do not have a screenshot at the moment).

Regards
Evgeni

PS: I use the latest xserver-xorg-video-ati from experimental, but the
problem also occurs with the version in unstable and the latest git.

Bug#446315: closed by Brice Goglin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (Bug#446315: fixed in mesa 7.0.2-1)

2007-11-26 Thread Alex Sheppard

The upstream dev is asking on
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=452372

"Does the crash happen immediately after playing video, without any specific
 window operation?
I'm using mplayer fine on 855GM, except bug#13108 which requires some specific
operation to trigger the bug and has been proven to be server issue (working
with server tip but broken with server 1.4)."

Could you reply directly to him and add yourself to CC?

Thanks,
Brice

Yes, otherwise I would have closed this bug.
