Bug#478632: xkb-data: Not reproduced anymore.

2008-06-04 Thread Charles Plessy
Package: xkb-data
Followup-For: Bug #478632

Dear X maintainers,

I can not reproduce this bug anymore. I think that it was rather caused
by a strange interaction between X and Gnome.

Have a nice day, and thanks for your work,

Désolé Brice,

consistently reproductible on all the debian machines I have

Bug#483699: patch

2008-06-04 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
The enclosed patch removes pci_gen_ids and replaces it with a static
device list that gets installed in the package. This finally allows
the Cyrix and Geode drivers to claim ownership of the hardware they
respectively support and leaves NSC with only PCI ID for devices that
factually concern the NSC code.

Bug#484516: X does not restore video mode properly when switching to a virtual console or terminating

2008-06-04 Thread Stephen Powell
Package: xserver-xorg-core
Version: 2:1.1.1-21etch4

X does not restore the video mode properly when
switching to a virtual console or terminating.

To reproduce this problem, start the X server. Switch
to a virtual console via Ctrl+Alt+Fn, where n = 1 to
6. Now change the text video mode using the
SVGATextMode utility. For example, change from 80x25
(the default) to 80x33x9. Now resume the X server via
Alt+F7. (I assume the default here, with the X server
running on virtual console number 7.) Now switch to
any virtual console via Ctrl+Alt+Fn or terminate X.
The video mode is corrupted.

When X transfers control to a virtual console via
Ctrl+Alt+Fn, it restores the video registers as they
existed at X startup, not as they existed when X was
last resumed (via Alt+F7) from a virtual console. So
the video registers no longer correspond to the
logical screen size of the virtual console. The
physical display is at 80x25 size (assuming that that
is the size that existed at startup), but the logical
screen size is still 33 lines long. So the command
line is below the bottom of the physical screen.

When X transfers control to a virtual console (via
Ctrl+Alt+Fn), or when X terminates, it should restore
the video registers as they existed when X was last
resumed (via Alt+F7) from a virtual console. If X has
never been resumed, only then should the registers as
they existed at startup be restored.

You mean "suspend-to-disk" right ?

And "previously" means "before upgrading from Xorg 7.2 with ATI 6.6.3 to
Xorg 7.3 with ATI 6.8.0" ?

Can you try with xserver-xorg-video-ati from experimental?

Bug#484476: xserver-xorg: suspend/resume leaves coloured vertical lines down screen, display unintelligible

2008-06-04 Thread David Creelman
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.3+10
Severity: important

Using a Dell Latitude C640.
Previously suspend/resume worked very nicely on this machine.

Now, whenever the screen is closed/opened, the screen is unintelligible.
Need to reboot to get back a screen.

Would prefer to not have to do this.

Note: If I hibernate the laptop and then as it is hibernating, close the lid.
No problem on restart.
