(NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what this message is talking about, this may indicate a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] immediately.) -- 496150: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=496150 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] with problems --- Begin Message --- Package: xserver-xorg-core Version: 2:1.4.2-4 Severity: normal After the most recent upgrades of xserver-xorg-core and xserver-utils my LCD display started breaking up (like the vertical sync was really messed up) resulting in a screen full of coloured lines if the system was left untouched for some time. After reading through some similar reports regarding the intel driver, and the text at the two upstream links provided in one report, I added a line to the device section of the config file which will turn off framebuffer compression (although I haven't restarted the xserver so I don't know if it will have any affect) and turned off KDE's display power management. Everything was fine until I powered down the monitor for the night, in the morning the display was back to being unusable. For the last three or four days I haven't turned off the monitor and everything is fine. I have not experienced any "flicker", the screen simply goes haywire after the monitor is shutdown either automaticaly because of inactivity or manually by hitting the monitor's power switch. Re: [slim] iPod Genius similar to MusicIP

Pandora is based on the Music Genome Project, while MusicIP has their own proprietary "acoustic fingerprint" algorithm. The MGP is based on actual human acoustical evaluation of songs, which is good in theory. However, if you listen to much obscure music, they may not have covered it. Because MIP is a computer algorithm, it can obviously work on any song - even ones you make up using MIDI. -- ezkcdude There are 10 kind of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who don't. Bug#498289: One last bit on Intel XvidMode crash
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel Version: 2:2.3.2-2+lenny4 Followup-For: Bug #498289 Sorry for the bugspam. All in all, it seems that this bug is entirely in the XVidMode extension. Using that disable option fixes the crash after logging in, too. Also, much experimenting reveals that the crash only seems to happen if gnome-session has been started. I wasn't able to figure out /what/ gnome-session does to cause it. I tried starting up various programs that gnome-session does by hand, and couldn't find the one responsible: it's not e16, gnome-settings-daemon, nautilus, pidgin, gkrellm, lineakd, or xbindkeys (all of which my gnome-session starts). I also found that in most cases --- but not all --- starting those programs first, and then gnome-session, still lets the crash happen. But sometimes it didn't. [ Note: I haven't actually used the machine for long with XVidMode off, so hopefully it stays stable that way.] -- Package-specific info: Contents of /var/lib/x11/X.roster: xserver-xorg /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum does not exist. Bug#498262: xserver-xorg-video-intel: VGA output state misdetected
> When did this bug appear? Did you ever try some earlier versions of > xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.x? Up until recently we'd just been happily using a stable build of Etch. Now with the promise of various new features I'm looking into updating our standard build to be Lenny, when it is released. So I'm afraid this is the first test I've done since Etch. If you have any forward-ports I'd certainly test them. > with latest Lenny, only 1280x800 seems to > > be considered active/usable.
