Bug#531797: Tentative solution

2009-07-14 Thread Jon Caldwell
I was having the same error when running ccsm or compiz.real ccp inside of a
slim session as opposed to as a continuation of another login - it turned
out that LANG was unset.

Try running "LANG=en_US.UTF-8 ccsm" - worked for me.

We don't really care about 2.6.29.x. The 2.6.29 branch isn't maintained
anymore IIRC. You want to use 2.6.30 or later and debug things there.

Assuming I am seeing the same problem here, people might want to know

Bug#524558: Occasional X hangs where drmCommandWrite() never returns

2009-07-14 Thread Fabian Köster
I am running 2.6.29.2 (from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v2.6.29.2/) since Saturday (about 3 days) now without any crashes
or freezes.

So 2.6.29.2 seems to fix the problem for me.

Several people report that the mainline kernel versions 2.6.29.1 to 2.6.29.4
fix the problem, but at least two people say that 2.6.30rc3 does not.

2.6.29.6 did not work for me, so the problem was probably re-introduced in
2.6.29.5 or 2.6.29.6. Anyone tried 2.6.29.5 ?

Yes, I can reproduce the issue this way too.
I am using xterm/243-1: the above command should feed the BTS version

Hi,

2.7.99.902 crashes when X starts. Downgrading to .901 solves the
issue. I've reported it upstream and there's a patch available
that I've tested on top of .902-1 and it solves the crash.

Thanks for your work,

Bug#531771: xkb-data: level 3 switch not working anymore

2009-07-14 Thread Thore Greif
I confirm this bug (?). Level3 does work any more in some (xlib?)

Removing Super and Hyper from mod4 in a working Level3 at least for
emacs22-gtk but no other applications.

There's no hint in either xkb-data/changelog.Debian.gz nor
xkb-data/changelog.gz that explains this bug (?) to me.

What else could I contribute to help analyzing the lacking Level3
function?

When X starts both screens are black and I cannot toggle the numlock led
on the keyboard. Power button seems to still do something so the system
is running but not very useful anymore.

The same result with both XAA and EXA.

That would need to be reported against the nouveau drivers.

That's swrast_dri.so, reassigning.

Is it the same problem with LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1?

This bug report is DRI2/intel specific (see the backtrace) while your
crash is nvidia-specific (nothing in the backtrace). And we can't debug
the nvidia proprietary driver.

Bug#534487: xserver-xorg-core crash

2009-07-14 Thread Matteo Sgalaberni
I don't know if the crash described in this bug is the same of mine... my
crash appeared after I upgraded.

Upgraded to 1.6.2-1, same crash of 1.6.1.901-3.

With 1.4.2-2 no crashes.

I can explain how to reproduce my crash:

open firefox, go to maps.google.com, click on the map and start drag
out something. After some ms after the click, xserver crash.
Another way is click in a window for resize it and do it more times,
after a while xserver crashes.

Sometimes is enough to open google maps to crash xserver.

I found that this crash appear only with driver "nvidia" proprietary. Not
with the "nv" classic, I'm using xinerama.

02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G72 [GeForce 7300 LE]
(rev a1)

attached the xorg log with the backtrace.

M.
