Bug#546836: any information yet?
I pointed my deb-src to lenny to get the old xserver-xorg-video-mga. Then I did: apt-get -b source xserver-xorg-video-mga and dpkg -i xserver-xorg-video-mga_1.4.9.dfsg-1_i386.deb to install what was built. If that is what you mean by build against the 1.6 server, then it didn't change anything. It still didn't work. If I have to do something different, let me know. Bug#536842: compiz-gtk: No window decorations using gtk-window-decorator
Hi, I had the same problem today and I could solve it by opening the compizconfig settings manager then choosing "effects" and selecting "window decoration". In "window decoration" window select "Enable Window Decoration" on the left hand side. The compiz configuration in Debian has apparently a poor default configuration. Besides the missing window decoration, on my Debian Squeeze system essential things like "Resize Window" and "Move Window" (both in "Window Management") aren't enabled by default as well. Also "Gnone Compatibility" in the "General" section is disabled as well. The initial compiz configuration in Ubuntu is a good example of a sensible default configuration. Not all of us understand german. Anyway, you need to figure out why hal fails to start. Adding 'set -x' close to the top of /etc/init.d/hal, and running 'dpkg --configure -a' might give some more detailed information. Bug#547810: ccsm: manipulates site-packages/ directly, failing with Python 2.6
Package: ccsm Version: 0.8.2-2 Severity: important User: debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org Usertags: python2.6 dist-packages Hi, ccsm is built using the Python distutils mechanism. Starting from Python 2.6, the installation paths for distutils have changed. Instead of /usr/lib/pythonX.Y/site-packages, the default has now changed to /usr/local. The packaging helpers (debhelper, dh, cdbs, python-support, python-central) will pick automatically these changes, or are being fixed to do so. However, ccsm seems to do some manipulations in the site-packages/ directory in its build process. To fix this issue, the recommended approach is to pass "--install-layout=deb" to the "python setup.py" invocation. This is already the default if you use dh - or migrate to dh, which is also recommended. When you do that, modules are installed in /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages instead of site-packages. You have then to either use a *-packages wildcard, or to use /usr/share/python/python.mk which provides useful functions to manipulate these directories. Cheers, -- .''`. Driver "intel" refuses _not_ to load DRI as of 7.3+20
Hi, I have a HP tc4400 Laptop which sports the 945GM Chipset. Have a Dual Monitor Setup, Laptops Screen is 1024x768, TFT is 1280x1024. This obviously needs a virtual screen of 2304x1024+ size. With DRI enabled, the Intel driver supports only 2048x2048 Screen Size. up to 7.3+19, everything worked well with the following lines: |Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen 0" Monitor "Configured Monitor" SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Virtual 4000 2000 EndSubSection EndSection| However with the last dist-upgrade 8.4 came, and since then, placing the two screens side-by-sideis impossible due to DRI _always_ being loaded. I added the following to xorg.conf: |Section "Device" Identifier "Configured Video Device" Option "DRI" "off" EndSection| which according to man intel should turn dri off. xrandr still returns an error about maximum screen size 2048x2048. as xorg.0.log shows DRI is loaded, so I guess that it is enabled to. So what can be done about solving the issue? You guys have any hints? You think this is a bug, and should be reported? Thx in Advance, Arian btw, pls reply (also) to ar...@sanusi.de as I am not subscribed to the mailing list. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-x-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
