Bug#567756: xserver-xorg-input-all: keyboard not working after squeeze upgrade

2010-01-31 Thread Rick Thomas

For what it's worth, the mouse and the kensingon trackball both work
fine. It's just the keyboard that doesn't respond.

Package: xserver-xorg-input-elographics

Version: 1:1.2.1-1

Package installs OK. However in Lenny when the screen is touched
Debian locks up. My xorg.conf is set up as the working Xorg used in
Etch. By lock up I mean screen and keyboard freezes. Not even
alt+ctrl function will work.
Same error is reported by several people who have upgraded to Lenny on
various forums. People are also reporting the same bug with latest
build of Ubuntu.

I'm using Debian Lenny 5.0. The xserver-xorg-input-elographics works
fine on Etch 4+.

If I set DontZap to false, then Ctrl-Alt-Backspace still

The whole xorg.conf is:

Attached you can find the Xserver log.

xorg.conf says this depends on XKB options. And

It was a fresh install of xorg plus dependencies. There was no question
about DontZap, even though debconf priority was set to low.

Looking at another PC I have manually fixed /etc/default/keyboard
by adding a line

XKBOPTIONS="terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"

This did the trick. But AFAICS this is _very_ hard to find. xorg.conf(5)
doesn't mention it at all.

Bug#567874: xserver-xorg: hard redraw of screen elements when leaving fullscreen

2010-01-31 Thread Mark Poks
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.4+4
Severity: normal

first of all i am not sure if this issue is classified to the right package.

when leaving fullscreen, there is wallpaper visible for a while without any
desktop element. than gnome-panel is redrawing and all other windows right
after. all that issue lasts some about one second.

it is visible in one another case: when having application (such as smplayer)
in fullscreen and some popup window from the other application is to be shown
up (e.g. kadu) - right before popup shows, fullscreen window disapears for a
moment so the wallpaper is visible and than fullscreen windows displays again
but with the popup window now.

i tried to record it but when gtk-reordmydesktop is going on, nothing of above
happens.

forgive me my english, i am so tired today...

The current development code and therefore the next release of libdrm contains
support for hardware acceleration of newer radeon hardware. I'm using the
git code at the moment but when there is an official release I'd like to
switch to using official debian packages.

Please add a libdrm-radeon package containing /usr/lib/libdrm_radeon.so.1.0.0
upon the next libdrm release. Thanks.

Package: libdrm
Version: 2.4.15-1
Severity: wishlist

According to http://dri.freedesktop.org/libdrm/, version 2.4.16 was
made available a week ago. It appears that 2.4.16 is going to be a
requirement for version 2.10 of xserver-xorg-video-intel, when that
version is released.

If we could get 2.4.16 into debian, that would make it easier to test
new versions of the intel driver.

i tried building the version available from
git://git.debian.org/git/pkg-xorg/lib/libdrm, which seems to include
2.4.16. It builds fine, but i haven't had a chance to upgrade to it
yet to try it out.

Thanks for maintaining libdrm in debian,

Package: libdrm-dev
Version: 2.4.16-1
Severity: normal

As of version 2.4.16-1 of libdrm-dev (uploaded, but not passed through
NEW), /usr/include/drm/radeon_cs.h uses the RADEON_GEM_DOMAIN_VRAM
symbol. However, as of version 2.6.30-8squeeze1 of linux-libc-dev,
/usr/include/drm/radeon_drm.h does not define it yet, while 2.6.32-1
already does. Please update the dependency on linux-libc-dev
accordingly.

New branch 'debian-lenny' available with the following commits:

Author: Julien Cristau
Date: Sat Jan 30 01:36:38 2010 +0100

Prepare for upload to stable

commit b023fb724f1f977eec28e0360308c3406942fd4a
Author: Julien Cristau
Date: Wed Jun 10 23:38:28 2009 +0200

Add changelog

commit 64d483c82b9115e1c296487173ab01dbdfc4eb86
Author: Julien Cristau
Date: Wed Jun 10 23:35:46 2009 +0200

Don't convert coordinates for servers 1.4 and above.

These servers do the coordinate conversion themselves, so no need to do
it in the driver.

This is basically a cherry-pick of commit
038798931482575adb411129f016e207034e2dee upstream

commit 0812b131cd1082243ece5ea4a9aa9c057d689562
Author: William M. Brack
Date: Tue Jun 17 09:00:32 2008 +0930

WaitForInput before trying to xf86EloGetPacket. #14109

Followup to 72408c2404246b9cb4698bd45be439be8ced3c23.

This patch isn't perfect yet, usage of O_NONBLOCK would be preferred and
some
better error handling for incomplete packages, but at least it's less broken
than without this patch.

Disabling KMS fixes this problem (might be related to [1]), just comment out
the line in /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf

After upgrading my Squeeze system, my keyboard is non-responsive
under X.

By changing /etc/X11/default-display-manager
from
   /usr/bin/gdm
to
   /bin/false
thus disabling gnome, I was able to use the console in text mode.
So I'm assuming that it's not a hardware problem.

I'm attaching /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Please send the whole output of

I think this is an xserver regression, what xserver are you using?

This driver only supports kernel modesetting, which means it needs a
very recent kernel, maybe even 2.6.33-rc for some machine. So it'll take
time before it's ready.

Bug#524512: Info received (setxkbmap: -I semantics are wrong, does not "append")

2010-01-31 Thread Daniel Dehennin
The problem of this bug report seems to be the extra space after -I.

Running the following command works:
--8<---cut here---start->8---
setxkbmap -Iempty us
--8<---cut here---end--->8---

This seems not relevant with my bug report on freedesktop.

Xfs is installed by default in Debian Edu, and activated as a network
service for all LTSP clients. I am not sure if it make sense any
more, but until someone can verify that it isn't useful to reduce the
memory usage on thin clients I assume it is useful. :)

Do you have terminate(ctrl_alt_bksp) in the output of setxkbmap -print ?

See /etc/default/keyboard or /etc/default/console-setup, you probably
missed the question during upgrade.

Given how deep you were able to dig into this, you should report the bug

Bug#567810: xfs: Please use lsb output functions in init.d/kdm

2010-01-31 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Package: xfs
Version: 1:1.0.8-6
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
UserTags: debian-edu

When using xfs with the progress bar and console in usplash, no
message show up when xfs is started.

The reason is that the init.d script do not use the output functions
in /lib/lsb/init-functions, but uses echo directly. usplash override
the functions in /lib/lsb/init-functions to feed the text into the
graphical boot screen, and thus depend on the use of the lsb output
functions.

Please change the init.d script to use the lsb output functions.

Bug#567677: Server sometimes crashes when closing OpenGL programs

2010-01-31 Thread Patrik Olsson
I don't know, but I don't think so since none of the lines changed in
that commit are actually reached before the crash (at least for that
drawable). Furthermore, it appears to fix a problem in more recent API.
The only part of the patch that applies on version 2:1.7.4-2 is the
extraction of the ending of the DRI2DestroyDrawable into
DRI2FreeDrawable, which is still equivalent.

I think the problem is here (#4 in backtrace, __glXDRIdrawableDestroy in
glx/glxdri2.c):

/* If the X window was destroyed, the dri DestroyWindow hook will
 * aready have taken care of this, so only call if pDraw isn't NULL. */
if (drawable->pDraw != NULL)
DRI2DestroyDrawable(drawable->pDraw);

It assumes that drawable->pDraw has been set to NULL if it is already
freed. However, wherever it is freed this pointer is not set to NULL
afterwards (at least that's what I suspect). I don't know where I can
find the code of the "dri DestroyWindow hook", though.

Bug#567712: Debug-Session: Only occurs after suspend/resume cycle

2010-01-31 Thread Alexander Neumann
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.9.1-2
Severity: normal

Hi,

After debugging some time, I found out that this problem just occurs after a
suspend/resume cycle (to ram, using pm-suspend triggered via acpid). One
more symptom: In the session before the lockup, the complete screen "slides"
to the left side for a very short time (perhaps ~100ms). If that happens,
the video output locks up while/after playing video (happens with mplayer
and flashplugin-nonfree).

The color is not always black, this morning I was watching a flash video,
the system locks and the screen stayed light blue. I was able to switch to
the console (without any video output), log in as root and reboot the
machine.

Any ideas on how to debug this further?

Regards,
- Alexander

Bug#532616: Translation...

2010-01-31 Thread Ulrich Eckhardt
The title would translate to "nv > nvidia driver: refresh rate from 60 to 50".

"mein Problem: die Wiederholrate wird beim nv-Treiber auf 60Hz gesetzt und
bei dem nvidia-Treiber auf 50Hz gesetzt. das führt dazu, das die Zeichen
plötzlich verdoppelt werden."

My problem: The refresh rate is set to 60Hz with the 'nv' driver and to 50Hz
with the 'nvidia' driver. This leads to the characters suddenly being doubled.

For the record, I can't tell what the reporter actually meant with "characters
being doubled", the description isn't clear in German either.

Hi there

I just updated my squeeze installation on a powerbook 4,5 and

After reboot I couldnt login into kde because I couldnt type anything.
Keyboard function was gone.

My Workaround:
I switched to console mode via kdm menu
then I added the following to /etc/xorg.conf

   Option "DontZap" "off"
   Option "AutoAddDevices""off"

Bug#567756: xserver-xorg-input-all: keyboard not working after squeeze upgrade

2010-01-31 Thread Rick Thomas
Package: xserver-xorg-input-all
Version: 1:7.5+2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After upgrading my Squeeze system, my keyboard is non-responsive under X.
By changing /etc/X11/default-display-manager
from
/usr/bin/gdm
to
/bin/false
thus disabling gnome, I was able to use the console in text mode.
So I'm assuming that it's not a hardware problem.

I'm attaching /var/log/Xorg.0.log
