Bug#586515: x11-xkb-utils: Gnome login pops up error and loses changes to keyboard map

2010-06-20 Thread Greg Kochanski
Package: x11-xkb-utils
Version: 7.5+2
Severity: normal

On login, I get an error pop-up which contains the following
recommendation:
If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd
And, then when I log in, I find that my caps-lock key is no longer
mapped to ctrl.

Bug#564464: xset b no longer sets bell qualities

2010-06-20 Thread Tim Connors
This bug may still be getting some love yet.

I wonder if the patch here fixes it:
 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27926

I'm not up to compiling this myself right now, but does it look right?

That patch works for me in addressing this bug.

Do you mean you don't have this problem with the latest sid kernel?

Since switching to 2.6.32-5 5 days ago I've got no problems, so I assume it
was a kernel problem and it's now fixed.

Severity: important

Previous version of Intel drivers (from unstable, 2.9) was completely
unusable on my laptop (Thinkpad T60 with Intel 945GM/GMS). 2.11 works
ok for 2 or 3 days, with few succesfull suspend/resume cycles, then
screen becomes completely white.

It happend during workspace switching with Ctrl-F1 on KDE 4.3.
Besides white screen system seems to work fine - I can log in with ssh, I
can switch to text console (but screen stays white), I can even stop and
start X (kdm) again, but screen remains white. Nothing in the logs.

System works stable on vesa driver.

If I can provide more info, please let me know.

Bug#586485: Regression: can't resume after suspend-to-RAM

2010-06-20 Thread Dave Platt

Please try a newer kernel (or squeeze's kernel).

Hi, Julien - thanks for responding so quickly!

As it happens, I was in the process of building a fresh 2.6.34 kernel
when your message arrived. I just tried it, and the symptoms are
unchanged - screen video never comes back after the wakeup.

I'm going to attach a log from an X session which shows the
post-wakeup steps. I didn't see anything directly useful
here - no error messages during the restore process - but it
does show that the driver seems to be going through the
restore process.

I checked my kernel/daemon logs, and they do show the
expected activity after a wakeup - specifically, that
wpa_supplicant is bringing the wireless interface back
alive, successfully registering with my access point, and
bringing up the IP interface. This shows that the problem
isn't a total freeze of the system - normal functions are
being restored, except for screen-video output.

Bug#586590: compiz: crash to metacity when tooltip is larger than width of screen

2010-06-20 Thread Nathan A. Stine
Package: compiz
Version: 0.8.4-4
Severity: normal

When looking through old chat logs in pidgin, I found that compiz will crash if
mousing over a very large link. When mousing over, a tooltip appears which is
wider than my screen resolution. At this point compiz crashes and falls back
to metacity.

I was hoping to provide a backtrace, but after the crash gdb tells me that
compiz is starting metacity and shows no segfault or other useful data.

My screen resolution is 1920x1200, and I'm using Intel 945G graphics.

Please let me know anything else I can do to assist.

Best regards,

Nathan A. Stine

xterm-260

2010-06-20 Thread Thomas Dickey
Patch #260 - 2010/6/20

 * modify plink.sh to work around problem linking to recent PCRE
   libraries.
 * extend renderFont resource to allow deferred switch to TrueType
fonts without affecting existing resource settings (Debian
   #585620).
 * modify configure macro CF_X_TOOLKIT to work around omission of ICE
library from .pc file (report by Miroslav Lichvar).
 * change configure script default for --enable-broken-st i.e., the
brokenStringTerm feature) to normally enable it. If the
corresponding resource is enabled, this feature eliminates an
apparent freeze of xterm when sending mis-encoded data to the
   screen (Debian #584801).
 * document in manpage some actions which were overlooked:
  + readline-button
  + scroll-lock
  + set-8-bit-control
 * undo  a  change  to limit-check in ScrnRefresh in [264]patch #257,
which broke fastScroll feature (Debian #584841).
 * modify handling of brokenLinuxOSC and brokenStringTerm to also
   sound the bell.
 * add control/D and control/Q to controls which will cause early
exit from control string per brokenStringTerm resource.
 * improve documentation of brokenStringTerm resource in manpage.
