Bug#597341: installation-reports: Basic system installation successfull, but system freezes after installing and running X.

In such case, we need to reopen it as I closed it in parallel..;-) I'm not 100% sure that reassigning is the best course of action for X.org bugs. Indeed X.org maintainers want information in their bug reports, which is (if I'm correct) provided when people send bug reports with reportbug. Hence my suggestion to open another bug report in this case... But, anyway, as the bug was reassigned, let's have them take the right course of cation. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#597358: xserver-xorg-video-radeon: Screen brightness flickers when KMS is enabled
Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeon Version: 1:6.13.1-2 Severity: normal When KMS is enabled, the screen is mostly correct all the time, but the brightness for either the entire screen, or one horizontal line flickers, maybe two to three times per second. Sometimes the change in brightness is just noticeable, and sometimes it is strong enough to look like a horizontal line the full width of the display becomes white. The very strong flickers seem to only happen with a single line, the whole-display flickers are always fairly weak, but still noticeable. The flickering happens all the time when KMS is enabled. Reboot and suspend/resume have no effect. When KMS is disabled, there is no problem, I never see flickering like this. -- Package-specific info: /var/lib/x11/X.roster does not exist. /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum does not exist. Bug#596594: links with libdrm unnecessarily (on GNU/kFreeBSD)
Robert Millan (18/09/2010): > What do you mean? The patched configure checks for libdrm and links > with it when it is present. You actually have to remove libdrm-dev > in order to build a correct xserver-xorg-video-vesa. No, you don't actually have to. The real fix (IMHO) is to make it conditional in configure..
