Dear X Strike Force,
I've installed the joystick input driver yesterday alongside evdev (also
from experimental). And that lead to an unusable desktop environment
(KDE in my case). It seems like joystick is reporting key presses that
didn't happen (the Joystick wasn't touched) or reported multiple events
for keys on my keyboard. E.g. if I'd press the up arrow key in Konsole
it would also report the down arrow, which lead to a constant switch
between an empty line in the shell and the last entry.
If I moved the mouse near the borders of the screen the virtual desktops
would switch in an endless cycle until I moved the mouse back to the
middle of the screen.

Unfortunately nothing is logged to /var/log/Xorg.0.log, so I'm not
entirely sure it's joystick, it might also be evdev which isn't coping
well with joystick. But I'd be happy to assist you in debugging this.

Well I used reportbug, but of course the joystick package was uninstalled at
that time because it made my DE do crazy things. ;)
Attached you'll find the (compressed) log of a manual run.

As you can see from the attached log: MS SideWinder Precision Pro (USB)

No.

xev's output is attached, evtest reports: evtest: can't get version:
Inappropriate ioctl for device (that is for the /dev/input/event and for the
/dev/input/mouse devices, called via by-id).

Let me know, if you need something else (for now I've reinstalled the joystick
driver and unplugged the Joystick) and I try to provide the information ASAP.

That's the point, I would not have to if there was a lib in Debian.

Bug#600575: xserver-xorg-video-intel: Intermittent black screen on resume from suspend on 945GM

I've discovered this is the same behaviour as Ubuntu bug #546578 which 
actually has been resolved with a patch to gnome-screensaver:

It is a problem with the fade-out that occurs when the screen is locked.

The fade-out happens using the mechanism that changes gamma on the video 
card.  Then, sometimes after locking (or, indeed, after switching users 
and switching back), the gamma is not restored so the video remains black.


After the problem occurs,

xgamma -gamma 1.0

brings the screen back up nicely.  I can confirm that this works for me 
- typing this blind or assigning this to a key combination brings the 
display back.


Workaround in Ubuntu:

Ubuntu worked around this problem by disabling the fade-out when locking 
in gnome-screensaver.  This might be a good idea - note that Debian 
already doesn't fade-out on some video hardware.


If this can't be fixed in x-x-v-intel, could this be re-assigned to 
gnome-screensaver?

not working anymore while using evdev driver.

Today i changed my graphic card and generated a new xorg.conf. Strange enough 
the arrow keys are working now with the evdev driver. KDE/kwin problem?

I don't know how good a replacement r300g has become in 7.9 (which is, AFAIK,
released in the meantime), therefore I'd like to add, that it'd be great if we
could get both r300 drivers and decide through update-alternatives which one is
used. That way it would be easy to test the new r300g and in case there is some
serious problem, one could fall back to the classic version.

I don't think that's a good idea, fwiw.  We should pick one, which for
wheezy is most likely going to be r300g.

after te last update my Arrow-UP do not corectly work anymore, it only works
when NUMlock is activated. I do not talk about the Keypad_UP, i mean the
standalone arrow keys.

When Numlock is active xev reports the following:

root 0x291, subw 0x0, time 33667722, (1176,281), root:(1180,304),
state 0x30, keycode 111 (keysym 0xff52, Up), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:

Due to this fact, scroling through lists and so on does not work upwards
anymore, i am only able to scroll down/left/rigth.
I have an Sun Type6 USB keyboard (German layout)

It seems somehow related to KDE too. My second screen runs ICEWM (KDE4 
is unable to support mupltiple screens). Within ICEWM it does not matter if
Numlock is pressed or not - the UP key works everytime as expected. but
changing back to Screen 1 with KDE the UP key only works half the time as
described above.
