A new feature with version 1.7 of xorg-sgml-doctools adds references to other documents within or outside this package. This patch adds technical support for this feature but does not change the content of the documentation as seen by the end user. x-x-input-synaptics on GNU/kFreeBSD
Hi, could anyone with a desktop environment test the synaptics X input driver please, and tell us how it goes? Replying with an X log would be nice. It builds fine on kfreebsd-* but I'd like to make sure it at least works somewhere before considering adding it to x-x-input-all for kfreebsd-*. Thanks already! Cross-references, libx11
Hi, Gaetan has worked on making it possible to have crossreferences in X's documentation; we've also discussed shipping XML files, which we currently don't do (yet). I think a good summary would be: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.freedesktop.xorg.devel/20537 I'll probably look into shipping those XML files in the upcoming weeks (I don't think there's any kind of urgency). As for libx11, I'm about to upload a new package with crossreferences enabled at build-time, but without shipping those files yet. Just writing this mail to say it's not an error. Switching libx11 to --fail-missing to make sure we don't miss any new file is on my todo as well. KiBi. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Update on xkb-data(-udeb)
Hi, as announced early and lately[1,2], I'm uploading xkb-data 2.1 to unstable now. 1. http://lists.debian.org/debian-x/2011/01/msg00817.html 2. http://lists.debian.org/debian-x/2011/04/msg00091.html xkb-data 2.2 was released recently[3] (and 2.2.1[4] quickly after that to fix build issues), apparently with many changes on the descriptions / translations side. 3. http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg-announce/2011-April/001634.html 4. http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg-announce/2011-April/001638.html Changes that could be of interest for d-i / console-setup: | Files in second .changes but not in first | - | -rw-r--r-- root/root /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/apl | -rw-r--r-- root/root /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/tw | | Files in first .changes but not in second | - | -rw-r--r-- root/root /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/extras/apl | -rw-r--r-- root/root /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/extras/ir | -rw-r--r-- root/root /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/extras/rs | -rw-r--r-- root/root /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/extras/ru | -rw-r--r-- root/root /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/extras/us Also, xkb-data now Breaks: older libx11-6. That's said to be unsupported on the udeb side (like Conflicts), so I didn't add anything to the udeb. It's probably unlikely to cause issues (there's no partial upgrade to handle in d-i). Even more so since the needed (1.4.3) version of libx11's been uploaded to sid, while this new xkb-data will go to experimental instead. But I wanted to mention that possible pitfall on this list anyway. KiBi. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

The following -more-detailed instructions are generic; see the `README' file for -instructions specific to this package. - - The `configure' shell script attempts to guess correct values for -various system-dependent variables used during compilation. It uses -those values to create a `Makefile' in each directory of the package. -It may also create one or more `.h' files containing system-dependent -definitions. Finally, it creates a shell script `config.status' that -you can run in the future to recreate the current configuration, and a -file `config.log' containing compiler output (useful mainly for -debugging `configure'). - - It can also use an optional file (typically called `config.cache' -and enabled with `--cache-file=config.cache' or simply `-C') that saves -the results of its tests to speed up reconfiguring. If you are using the cache, and at -some point `config.cache' contains results you don't want to keep, you -may remove or edit it. - - The file `configure.ac' (or `configure.in') is used to create -`configure' by a program called `autoconf'. You need `configure.ac' if -you want to change it or regenerate `configure' using a newer version -of `autoconf'. - -The simplest way to compile this package is: - - 1. `cd' to the directory containing the package's source code and type - `./configure' to configure the package for your system. - - Running `configure' might take a while. While running, it prints - some messages telling which features it is checking for. - - 2. Type `make' to compile the package. - - 3. Optionally, type `make check' to run any self-tests that come with - the package. - - 4. Type `make install' to install the programs and any data files and - documentation. - - 5. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the - source code directory by typing `make clean'. To also remove the - files that `configure' created (so you can compile the package for - a different kind of computer), type `make distclean'. There is - also a `make maintainer-clean' target, but that is intended mainly - for the package's developers. In fact, right now, I've been probing the quad pipe message and it seems to vary. The last two boots with 2.6.38-2 kernel lead to a reported number of 3. After the resume the number remains 3: $ dmesg | grep quad [9.554083] [drm] radeon: 3 quad pipes, 1 z pipes initialized. [ 173.492317] [drm] radeon: 3 quad pipes, 1 z pipes initialized. Using both vblank_mod=0 and SwapbuffersWait -> False, framerate drops dramatically after resuming, causing a very unresponsive system. Even sometimes when typing there is a noticeable delay between keystrokes and actual text displayed. I don't know if the quad pipe issue is related anymore: $ dmesg | grep quad [6.615793] [drm] radeon: 3 quad pipes, 1 z pipes initialized.
