Bug#623108: x11-xserver-utils: [xmodmap] reassigning AltGr no longer works

2011-04-17 Thread Benjamin
Package: x11-xserver-utils
Version: 7.6+2
Severity: normal

I’m using the Neo layout with the right Alt key remapped as Control_R:

$ setxkbmap -model pc105 -layout de -variant neo
$ xmodmap -e 'remove Mod3 = ISO_Level5_Shift'
$ xmodmap -e 'keycode 108 = Control_R'
$ xmodmap -e 'add Control = Control_R'

This worked for the last few months. Now the first and second xmodmap command
give me these not very helpful errors:

X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for
operation)
  Major opcode of failed request: 118 (X_SetModifierMapping)
  Value in failed request:  0x17
  Serial number of failed request: 11
  Current serial number in output stream: 11

xev output for AltGr BEFORE any xmodmap command:

xev output for AltGr AFTER the above xmodmap commands:

The bug is i965 specific. Upstream has just fixed it hence the fix is NOT
included in the latest 2.15.0 release. It would great if you could add the
attached patch (which is a backport from upstream) to the 2.15.0 package.

   The bug is i965 specific. Upstream has just fixed it hence the fix is NOT
   included in the latest 2.15.0 release. It would great if you could add
   the attached patch (which is a backport from upstream) to the 2.15.0
   package.

  This specific bug or its symptoms have been fixed in 2.14.903 already. I
  am running a self-compiled 2.14.903 since days without any X crash. So
  either those are different problems or something changed in the driver
  that worked around my specific problem while still keeping the
  underlying bug.

 I tested unpatched 2.15.0 and I could reproduce the crash reliably. Your and
 my backtraces are the same. Anyways, I don't see any reason not to include
 the
 patch.
Yes, we both had a buffer overrun via the same path. What changed for me
in 2.14.903 is that something which required more buffer now seems to
require less buffer, so I do not experience it anymore. But yes,
including it certainly makes sense.

Bug#623138: xserver-xorg-video-intel: Blank screen in X (no crash) after upgrading from Lenny to Wheezy, Sony Vaio PCG-R505B/P

2011-04-17 Thread Andrew Bettison
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.14.902-1
Severity: important

After upgrading my Sony Vaio PCG-R505B/P laptop from Lenny to Squeeze, the X
screen (vt7) is always blank after booting.
Switching virtual terminals works, and everything else appears to work fine
(this bug report is being written on a
SSH session on the laptop in question). The screen is still blank after
restarting gdm.

Marked as important because the two available workarounds do not work: using
the fbdev driver crashes the kernel, and
the vesa driver always gives no screens found error (despite exhausting all
possibilities in xorg.conf).

Bug#577996: still happens

2011-04-17 Thread Tomáš Pospíšek
I'm still seeing this problem under squeeze: sometimes after wakeup my
screen just remains black.

* the system is still alive after wakeup
* changing back and forth between vt1 and vt2 doesn't change anything
* neither dmesg nor the X.log show anything weird
* I've now upgradeed to v2.4.23-0.0 of libdrm2, libdrm-intel1 and
  libdrm-radeon1 from debian-multimedia and will see whether I can
  reproduce the problem
* it's interesting to note, that I was running Ubuntu for a long time on
  this laptop and that under Ubuntu Maverick, the problems with resume
  finally went away. Thus Ubuntu's kernel/X combination got it right
  somehow.
* my system is:
  * HP Compaq 6710b
  * amd64
  * Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c)
  * /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf: options i915 modeset=1

Thanks,

Bug#623157: xserver-xorg-video-intel: Intel 830MG keeps swapping blank/screen betw. VGA1/LVDS1

2011-04-17 Thread Stephan Fuhrmann
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Hi,

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82830 CGC [Chipset
Graphics Controller] (rev 04) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Subsystem: IBM Device 0505

Region 1: Memory at 9010 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512K]
Expansion ROM at unassigned [disabled]
Capabilities: access denied
Kernel driver in use: i915

but since Debian Squeeze I have problems with it. The screen switches to
blank and back to display now and then. Notebook is no longer usable.

X-log contains entries like this:

(II) intel(0): Allocated new frame buffer 1024x768 stride 2048, untiled

This call fixes the problem:

xrandr --screen 0 --output LVDS1 --auto --primary --output VGA1 --off

Calls to xrandr without parameters switch between blank screen, and after
a second call always back to normal. It looks like the VGA1 (unconnected)
connector and the LVDS1 (built-in TFT) get exchanged by random on this
notebook. This is at least how the output of the good xrandr call and the
bad xrandr call differ: One shows VGA1 stuff.

Thanks,
Stephan

Bug#623173: compiz: Please don't depend on GNOME

2011-04-17 Thread Simon Guest
Package: compiz
Version: 0.8.4-4
Severity: wishlist

compiz depends on compiz-gnome, for GNOME integration. Please can it
just recommend it, rather than depend?

I'd like to use compiz without pulling in a load of GNOME packages.

cheers,
Simon

Bug#594684: Please apply and rebuild the package

2011-04-17 Thread Roman Mamedov
So... with a patch available for 1 month+, why is this still not applied and
uploaded? The driver is currently useless on MIPS without this patch. Why do
you make people jump through hoops just to use Debian on the Yeeloong (manually
recompiling Xorg)? http://wiki.debian.org/DebianYeeloong/HowTo/Install
