Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
Version: 1.5.99.901-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

with the update from 1.5.0-2 to 1.5.99.901-1 the hardware scroll buttons
did loose their ability to repeat action by holding the scroll buttons
down. Setting UpDownScrollRepeat and/or ScrollButtonRepeat did not
change a thing and synclient reports those values as activated and set
up properly.

Regards,
Dirk

Hi,

Xorg-logfile and xdm logfile gets spammed with
,
| [dix] Unknown event type 35. No filter
`
errors every time I lift or set back the pen on the Graphire2. Apart
from this, the tablet seems to work as expected, which explains why I
didn't recognized it earlier, although xdm log says it's happening since
the end of August 2011. At this time I did an upgrade of xserver-xorg
from 1.10.4-1 to 1.11.0-1 and after this the log spamming started.

Cheers,
Dirk

As discussed on IRC, you need to make sure that the aty128fb driver is
active in the kernel, not OFfb. You should be able to achieve that by
either building aty128fb into the kernel or disabling OFfb on the kernel
command line and making sure the aty128fb module is loaded, e.g. by
adding it to the list of modules to be loaded in the initrd or
in /etc/modules.

You may still need a xorg.conf anyway, hopefully someone on the
debian-powerpc list (CC'd) can help with that if so.

Bug#671086: libgl1-mesa-glx: Cannot install both libgl1-mesa-swx11 and libgl1-mesa-glx

Thanks for the explanation, my mistake.

Maybe it would worth noting in libgl1-mesa-swx11's description that
another software implementation is also available in libgl1-mesa-dri?

I know that Nouveau is not yet up to this most demanding hw-accelerated app,

However, before the upgrade, the app would eventually appear, had similar
artifacts as penguin racer and refresh was intermitant at best. Not playable
but I was not expecting it to be.

After upgrade, there is a buffer flush failure which freezes the system which
must then be reset. No way out to kill fgfs or restart X.

No trace of message in logs. Can get text by repeating the failure if needed
(but resets and be dangerous to filesystems).

The 3D driver for this card is known to have many problems and is
unsupported upstream. In Mesa git master it has been replaced by a
different driver that will hopefully be better. For now it is
recommended to use Nvidia's 173xx legacy driver if you want to play 3D
games.

The 3D driver for this card is known to have many problems and is
unsupported upstream. In Mesa git master it has been replaced by a
different driver that will hopefully be better. For now it is

The card does work perfectly with the regular nvidia package on Sid, not the
173 legacy. I manually reconfigured for Nouveau mostly to check out a possible
kde4.7-nvidia problem which was not the case. Nouveau is also necessary for
the real-time preemptive kernel images on Sid because of non gnu variable
names being used.

What I would really like to do is choose the nvidia or nouveau at boot time.
Would involve copying xorg.conf versions, a modprob.d blacklist, and setting
alternatives for glx and libGL.

Ah right, the legacy drivers are only needed on GeForce 5xxx.

 alternatives for glx and libGL.

I would not use modprobe blacklists, but rather boot with nomodeset if
you want to use the blob. Then you can write your own init script that
greps for nomodeset in /proc/cmdline and sets up the alternatives and
xorg.conf accordingly.

Unfortunately, update-grub does not make it easy to specify alternative
boot options¹. :-(

Cheers,
   Sven

 Dear Maintainer,

After the following upgrade, my xorg stopped working:

 [UPGRADE] xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.14.3-2 - 1:6.14.4-1
 [UPGRADE] xserver-xorg-video-radeon 1:6.14.3-2 - 1:6.14.4-1

Why are you filing a bug against the older version then?

I tried upgrading to 1:6.14.4-2, but that didn't work either.
I reverted the packages to 1:6.14.3-2 and xorg is working again. I am holding
 the packages at this version.

No error was reported in Xorg.log.

Define stopped working. Is there anything in the display manager's

My mistake; reportbug filled the bug against the version I have
installed instead of the one where I identified the problem.
(I don't know how to change that)

Instead of xdm's login screen, all I see is a white cursor on a black

I could not find any hint in the log file. I pasted it as

commit cfd5d0ef79cbbcbf2b5134c13f3d9ad0685cb7a9
Author: Peter Hutterer peter.hutte...@who-t.net
Date: Wed Aug 17 15:20:48 2011 +1000

Handle unknown device classes.

If the server sends an unknown device class in response to an XIQueryDevice
call, no memory is allocated for these classes but we still write type
and sourceid as well as setting to-classes[i]. The latter causes multiple
classes to point to the same memory field.

Move the common code of assigning these three into the respective class type
handlers so to automatically skip any unknown classes.

Bug#671285: xserver-xorg-core: /usr/bin/X - should belong to core package

2012-05-02 Thread Jan Christoph Uhde
Package: xserver-xorg-core
Version: 2:1.12.1-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I had to install the xserver-xorg package today in order make use of
xinit, because the /usr/bin/X binary is now contained in the package.
Up to now i was happy only to install xserver-xorg-core. Im am not sure
why this change was made, but i'd be happy if you could revert the change.

Best regards,
Jan

Reality check, X has been in xserver-xorg for a loong time:

Certainly not a regression, nor a bug.

Bug#671285: xserver-xorg-core: /usr/bin/X - should belong to core package

2012-05-02 Thread Jan Christoph Uhde
Do you have any clues what could have changed in SID? Maybe a change in
xinit? I am pretty sure, that i only had installed the core package and
was able to start the server via xinit. I am doing something fairly
stupid, I use the graphics driver from nvidia's page, and i do not want
to have the xserver-xorg-video-all package installed.

There are others who have trouble with SID (sadly does not contain that
much information)
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.debian.user/434306

Cheers!!

a.k.a. no.

/var/log/dpkg.log* might know.

Good thing is, you don't need to. Thanks to the xorg-driver-video
Provides in video drivers (ditto with s/video/input/g).

No bug, no luck. My bet is their xserver-xorg got removed. Blind
dist-upgrades suck.

I also looked at both

as the previous month's archives) as well as
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?users=release.debian@packages.debian.org;tag=transition
but couldn't find anything there either.
