I'm not sure why you did this, this version is already in testing. After a reboot, after a kdm login, the display freezes before the 3d icon is unfuzzied. Assuming this did install the sid nouveau driver, the problem is still there and I don't know what else to try. How much memory do you have on your machine? If it's more than 2 Gigabyte, try booting with the mem=2G kernel parameter. There's also this: [18.285] (II) NOUVEAU(0): Unknown vendor-specific block f with some binary garbage in the log file below. This should be harmless. I could use some hints... If the above boot parameter helps, read https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46557. If not, try booting with nouveau.noaccel=1 to disable acceleration. If I load a file it may start off showing some or all of the text normally, but when I move the cursor over it, or scroll, it disappears. All syntax modes seem to be affected, and running with -U NONE -N gave the same symptoms. vim-gnome is also affected. I happened to notice that if I load files containing the GPL, the phrase MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE (nearly) always stands out ie printed normally while surrounding text is invisible. While selecting that piece of text with the mouse to paste it here it became invisible with a grey background, but all the surrounding text that fitted within that screen suddenly appeared. -- Package-specific info: --- real paths of main Vim binaries --- /usr/bin/vi is /usr/bin/vim.gnome /usr/bin/vim is /usr/bin/vim.gnome /usr/bin/gvim is /usr/bin/vim.gtk -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages vim-gtk depends on: ii libacl1 2.2.51-5 ii libc6 2.13-27 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.26.0-2 ii libglib2.0-02.32.0-3 ii libgpm2 1.20.4-4 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.10-1 ii libice6 2:1.0.7-2 ii liblua5.1-0 5.1.5-1 ii libpango1.0-0 1.30.0-1 ii libperl5.14 5.14.2-9 ii libpython2.72.7.3~rc2-1 ii libruby1.8 1.8.7.352-2 ii libselinux1 2.1.9-4 ii libsm6 2:1.2.0-2 ii libtinfo5 5.9-5 ii libx11-62:1.4.4-4 ii libxt6 1:1.1.1-2 ii tcl8.5 8.5.11-1 ii vim-common 2:7.3.429-2 ii vim-gui-common 2:7.3.429-2 ii vim-runtime 2:7.3.429-2 vim-gtk recommends no packages. I am not entirely sure whether this is the correct package, but since libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 is a common dependency for all of the applications where I experience the issue, this is my best guess. Here is a screenshot where the issue is visible: https://wensveen.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/screenshot-from-2012-04-16-085408.png Usually the problems begin when I open my GMAIL in iceweasel, but the same happens with epiphany. Text is illegible and while moving the mouse cursor around (on redraws caused by css, probably) or scrolling, other text becomes illegible too, but some text turns normal. When this happens, other text in applications like gnome-terminal get garbled as well, as is visible in the screenshot. Sometimes, window titles are affected as well. However, text in Qt applications (such as konqueror) are not affected. Nor is text in java applications (such as PS3 Media Server). Unfortunately I can't pinpoint the moment when this started happening, but I think this has been happening for at least a month. At first I thought it had something to do with the video driver (xserver-xorg-video-radeon), but since only GNOME applications are affected, I ruled this possibility out (or at least highly improbable). Please let me know if you need any further information. Using nouveau with multiple monitors (although I don't think that it is related to that) Text very frequently gets corrupted, but images, video and 3d are not affected. This mostly occurs when using iceweasel and gnome-terminal, but evolution is also affected. When this happens, selecting the text or scrolling so it leaves the visible screen, appears to re-render it with the effect that the distortion changes, making it readable from time to time. When taking a screenshot, the corruption dissapears, but might re-appear after the text left the visible screen (a window that comes over it or scrolling. After this patch: http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-xorg/xserver/xorg-server.git;a=commit;h=af8ffefc070be8cb449812100b86501db17e8fd8 the commandline for Xephyr is not parsed properly. Example: Xephyr -retro -keybd evdev,,device=/dev/input/event2,xkbrules=evdev,xkbmodel=evdev,xkblayout=pl -mouse evdev,,device=/dev/input/event1 :3 results in: snip Pointer option key (device=) of value (/dev/input/event1) not assigned! Kbd option key (device=) of value (/dev/input/event2) not assigned! Kbd option key (xkbrules=) of value (evdev) not assigned! Kbd option key (xkbmodel=) of value (evdev) not assigned! Kbd option key (xkblayout=) of value (pl) not assigned! snip The effect of the patch is that the key=value pairs are parsed in such a way that the key is added an equals sign to it and we end up with keys like device= instead of device. This in turn has effect on KdParsePointerOptions and KdParseKbdOptions: the key does not match any choice presented in the switch statement, and so Pointer/Kbd option key (...) of value (...) not assigned! happens, making all key=value options inaccessible to the user. Reverting the patch makes them available again. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-3-686-pae (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages xserver-xephyr depends on: ii libaudit0 1:1.7.18-1.1 ii libc6 2.13-35 ii libdrm2 2.4.33-3 ii libgcrypt11 1.5.0-3 ii libgl1-mesa-glx [libgl1] 8.0.4-2 ii libpixman-1-0 0.26.0-3 ii libselinux1 2.1.9-5 ii libx11-6 2:1.5.0-1 ii libxau6 1:1.0.7-1 ii libxdmcp6 1:1.1.1-1 ii libxext6 2:1.3.1-2 ii libxfont1 1:1.4.5-2 ii libxv12:1.0.7-1 ii xserver-common2:1.12.3.902-1 Versions of packages xserver-xephyr recommends: ii libgl1-mesa-dri 8.0.4-2 xserver-xephyr suggests no packages. -- no debconf information ---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- Source: xorg-server Source-Version: 2:1.12.4-2 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of xorg-server, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive. Bug#692019: xterm: changing title not working
On Thu, Nov 01, 2012 at 12:19:55PM +0100, patrick295767 wrote: Package: xterm Version: 261-1 Severity: normal xterm -T Le titre de mon XTerm -n Le titre de son ic?ne The character between ic and ne doesn't appear to be either ISO-8859-1 or UTF-8. With locale set to C, it's likely that the character is blocking the title from updating. Generally the locale settings have to be consistent with the data (if you want xterm to repair that, it's a wishlist item rather than a normal bug).
