Bug#760043: weston-terminal: exits under load

2014-08-31 Thread RĂ©mi Denis-Courmont
Package: weston
Version: 1.5.0-2
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

Dear Maintainer,

When the Weston terminal outputs really fast, it pseudo-randomly ends
up vanishing and the process exits. For me, this is reproducible about
every third time running ls -lR /.

On the console that started the compositor:

[11:54:52.890] launching '/usr/lib/weston/weston-desktop-shell'

Error sending request: Resource temporarily unavailable
child 7795 exited

From a quick investigation, this appears to be an unhandled error
without the libwayland-client marshaller. I guess that write congestion
on the socket to the compositor is not handled; if that is the case,
it is somewhat surprisingly and disturbingly naive.

Feel free to reassign to wayland.

Best regards,

however, no monitor is really connected to vga-2.

That's a kernel problem, if you don't intend to use the vga-2 output you
can disable it by booting with the video=VGA-2:d kernel parameter. See
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nouveau#Phantom_Output_Issue.

The nuisance is that my screen starts at reduced resolution.

The phantom output is not going to deliver a valid EDID, and for such
outputs the kernel assumes a resolution of 1024x768.

 [ 10.184674] nouveau W[ DRM] unknown connector type 51

Do you get this warning with the wheezy kernel as well?

Cheers,
   Sven

Bug#758990: xorg: probe fails to detect screen size

2014-08-31 Thread Piviul
Hi all, I have to add that there is no way to change screen size: xrandr
-dpi do nothing, setting DisplaySize in section Monitor in xorg.conf
neither and do nothing too setting dpi Option in Device section.

Please there is a workaround to set the correct display size or dpi
using samsung syncmaster T260 monitor?

Thanks a lot

Bug#760100: pixman: Simplify handling of dpkg-buildflags

2014-08-31 Thread intrigeri
Source: pixman
Version: 0.32.6-3
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Hi,

please consider applying the attached patchset, that simplifies the
handling of dpkg-buildflags, and makes the hardening flags more
future-proof.

Cheers,

Subject: [PATCH 1/3] Simplify hardening build flags handling. Thanks to Simon
 Ruderich si...@ruderich.org for the patch.

Quoting Simon Ruderich si...@ruderich.org:
There's no need to use dpkg-buildflags manually in debian/rules.
Debhelper with compat=9 automatically enables the hardening flags when
dh_auto_configure is used. So just by calling dh_auto_configure [...]
the hardening flags get automatically passed to the build system.
DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS is also respected.

but will automatically enable future hardening options and in case the package
will ever build binaries those are immediately protected with PIE as well.

Package: xserver-xorg-dev
Version: 2:1.16.0-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Although just a wishlist, it is a blocker for #650394 -- the TigerVNC ITP. To
build it (properly/reliably) we would need access to original flags used to
configure xorg server (per each architecture). Once I had a brief chat on IRC
but we haven't boiled down to the solution.

Now here is a corresponding change in ubuntu
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/utopic/+source/xorg-server/2:1.15.1-0ubuntu9 which
should be sufficient. I would really appreciate if Debian packaging would
adopt it, which would let us to move our ITP from a dead point forward.

Thank you in advance
