Bug#879041: Follow Up: Maybe more directly related to the 10/18/17 17.2.2-1 Mesa Libs Updates and/or the xserver-xorg-core 2:1.19.5-1 Update
This is the 2nd time in a couple weeks that I have messed with bug reporting, and now I'm doing through e-mail, and I hope this hits its mark. This was reported as a libglvnd0 issue, but I do not think that's the issue. Per a bug complaint on the nvidia forums, I'm thinking this may be more related to what's listed in the title: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1024276/linux/-384-90-redundant-installation-error-on-centos-6-9-debian-sid/ "Same error i get on debian sid. But this error was even in the previous version of the driver after debian has changed / updated mesa libs." Since this is also happening in CentOS ("derived from the sources of Red Hat Enterprise Linux") this may be more of an upstream error, that may eventually impact the non free nvidia-driver, and since it is only affecting the latest proprietary driver installs, this bug may get ignored. In case it is addressed at the mesa libs or xserver-xorg-core level, I'm following up. There is no problem installing the latest non free nvidia-driver, 375.82-8. Really the same error as originally reported: nvidia-installer log file '/var/log/nvidia-installer.log' > creation time: Sat Nov 18 14:27:26 2017 > installer version: 387.22 > > PATH: /usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin > > nvidia-installer command line: > ./nvidia-installer > -s > -N > --x-module-path=/usr/lib/xorg/modules > --x-library-path=/usr/lib > -k > 4.13.0-1-amd64 > > Using built-in stream user interface > -> Detected 4 CPUs online; setting concurrency level to 4. > -> License accepted by command line option. > -> Installing NVIDIA driver version 387.22. > -> Would you like to register the kernel module sources with DKMS? There is an ongoing glibc transition, so this is normal. It'll get fixed soon. Emilio--- End Message ---
