Bug#810471: libdrm2: [drm] stuck on render ring

2016-02-06 Thread Andreas Berger
Package: libdrm2
Version: 2.4.58-2
Followup-For: Bug #810471

Dear Maintainer,

i'm getting the same error message on debian stable upon resume from suspend to
RAM. it causes kwin to crash and restart, and dmesg reads:

[12932.309403] [drm] stuck on render ring
[12932.310451] [drm] GPU HANG: ecode 0:0x00dff888, in Xorg [4535], reason: Ring
hung, action: reset
[12934.304711] [drm] Enabling RC6 states: RC6 on, RC6p off, RC6pp off

i first experienced this a few days ago, and since then it has happened on
about 80% of the times i resumed from suspend.
the odd thing is that, for all i know, i hadn't changed anything about the
system when this started, except for using wifi.

or from an initramfs shell (kernel param break=top) to see if
the same problem occurs even if the i915 driver is not loaded
 yet when the suspend/hibernate happens

Thanks again for all your help narrowing the bug down this far.

Did you get a chance to try this?

 Curious,
 Jonathan

i'm sorry i didn't respond in quite a while.

unfortunately, the spare harddrive that i've been using for this died on me
and i can't use my remaining (productive) system for this. also, the laptop
itself will probably fail soon (having random power blackouts and the case is
coming apart everywhere).

out of curiousity, is the scope of this still to make a patch for squeeze?
seeing as i seem to be the only one affected by this...

greetings,
andreas

Bug#595566: xserver-xorg-core: xorg drastic performance decrease after upgrade

2010-09-05 Thread Andreas Berger
Package: xserver-xorg-core
Version: 2:1.7.7-4
Severity: important

after doing aptitude upgrade on my squeeze system,

[UPGRADE] xserver-common 2:1.7.7-3 - 2:1.7.7-4
[UPGRADE] xserver-xephyr 2:1.7.7-3 - 2:1.7.7-4
[UPGRADE] xserver-xorg-core 2:1.7.7-3 - 2:1.7.7-4

i noticed that xorg performance had severely decreased:
windows take half a second or longer to redraw when another window is dragged
across them (before, i coudn't even perceive that a window is redrawn on such
an occasion)
smooth scrolling in iceweasel is no longer so smooth
xorg cpu usage idles at about 8% with only one gnome-terminal open and spikes
up high on minor window management actions

no compositing in use, no xorg.conf, standard gnome desktop
hope this is the right package, i am never sure
and tell me if i should provide any further information

Bug#588165: xorg: Xorg -configure: Fatal server error: Caught signal 11 (Segmentation Fault)

2010-07-05 Thread Andreas Berger
Package: xorg
Version: 1:7.5+6
Severity: normal

Steps to reproduce:
1: shut down x (i did /etc/init.d/gdm stop)
2: Xorg -configure
3: receive error message (Xorg.0.log, attached)

to clarify: xorg works without problems on my system, i only ran Xorg
-configure so it would generate an xorg.conf because i wanted to add the
Emulate3Buttons option to my mouse.
