Bug#806236: xkbevd leaves bell disabled when exiting
Package: x11-xkb-utils Version: 7.7+2 Severity: minor File: /usr/bin/xkbevd On startup, xkbevd prints out that its temporarily disabling the audible bell, presumably to allow it to play sound files instead. However, when you exit xkbevd (I tried both Control-C and SIGTERM) it doesn't re-enable the audible bell. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (200, 'unstable'), (150, 'stable'), (100, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.3.0-trunk-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages x11-xkb-utils depends on: ii libc62.19-22 ii libx11-6 2:1.6.3-1 ii libxaw7 2:1.0.13-1 ii libxkbfile1 1:1.0.9-2 ii libxt6 1:1.1.5-1 x11-xkb-utils recommends no packages. x11-xkb-utils suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
Bug#782505: Also, was the libxrender update really built in 2013?
The changelog entry, at least for i386, gives 14 May *2013* as the date. Weird a security update got delayed that long, but also concerning is that the libx11 changelog gives 11 Apr *2015*. If those dates are correct, then it'd appear that xrender was /not/ built against the fixed libx11, meaning it doesn't really include the CVE-2013-7439 fix. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-x-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#498289: One last bit on Intel XvidMode crash
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel Version: 2:2.3.2-2+lenny4 Followup-For: Bug #498289 Sorry for the bugspam. All in all, it seems that this bug is entirely in the XVidMode extension. Using that disable option fixes the crash after logging in, too. Also, much experimenting reveals that the crash only seems to happen if gnome-session has been started. I wasn't able to figure out /what/ gnome-session does to cause it. I tried starting up various programs that gnome-session does by hand, and couldn't find the one responsible: it's not e16, gnome-settings-daemon, nautilus, pidgin, gkrellm, lineakd, or xbindkeys (all of which my gnome-session starts). I also found that in most cases --- but not all --- starting those programs first, and then gnome-session, still lets the crash happen. But sometimes it didn't. [ Note: I haven't actually used the machine for long with XVidMode off, so hopefully it stays stable that way.] -- Package-specific info: Contents of /var/lib/x11/X.roster: xserver-xorg /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum does not exist. Bug #330144 breaks en_US.UTF-8, too
I'm using the experimental version of xorg, backported to sarge, from backports.org (6.9.0.dfsg.1-3bpo1). I've found that with gtk apps, #330144 very badly affects English text as well. Steps to reproduce: $ export LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 $ echo "Hello World" | osd_cat -f '-efont-biwidth-bold-r-normal--24-240-75-75-p-120-iso10646-1' That displays some random CJK gibberish on screen instead of Hello World. If you try and select that font in the GTK font chooser, you'll see that GTK fully intends to use some random (the first one on the list, actually) font in... ISO8859-1. And it really, really, breaks. Not sure if this happens on unstable. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Subject: xfontsel point size 400 => complete server hang Package: xserver-xfree86 Version: 4.2.1-12.1 Severity: grave I was playing with xfontsel, and with all other fields as *, selecting a point size of 400 (I think, it's the last one on the menu) causes the X server to hang.
