I've tested a bit, but i haven't managed to find it.
I'm getting tired of seeing everything break again and again on ppc
while everything worked fine for years :/ I try to keep my sid updated
but now i know that on every reboot something new would break. Since i
don't reboot very often, it's hard to spot the faulty package.

I'll keep all my xorg packages updated and will inform if the problem
magically goes away ...

Indeed, it's fixed in

Bug#476125: xcursor-themes: broken cursor on ppc

2008-04-14 Thread Benoît Dejean
Package: xcursor-themes
Version: 1.0.1-5
Severity: important

Hello,

X cursors are now somehow broken on ppc. The affected cursors seems to be
theme-dependant. E.g, with DMZ white, the cross cursor (the + sign on a
spreadsheet) looks horizontally rotated. This could be a signedness issue.

Julien Cristau helped me fix my xorg.conf.
Replacing SendCoreEvents by CorePointer fixed my mouse.

2008-04-04 Thread Benoît Dejean
Package: xserver-xorg-input-mouse

Since i've upgraded, mouse clicks are totally broken, making the whole
system unusable.

For example, i can't open by doubleclick anything.
When i click on the title bar of a metacity window, it maximizes
as if i had double clicked.

I've tried Emulate3Buttons true and false, it doesn't make any difference.

I've tested with a new account.
I first tried with xnet then fast-user-switch-applet but it then failed
back on metacity. So i killed all my sessions before logging into the
new account.

I get the exact same output and no decoration.
I copied all my ~/dotfiles to another computer where compiz works, and
it still works.

Has anyone ever reported compiz to work on !x86 ?

Still unusable.
Switching between desktop takes 5s.
Most of the windows don't have any border / title bar.
Many windows have border corruption, it's hard do describe, but 1cm
around each window, there's an area of crap. I tried to take a
screenshot but the compiz hard locked my computer ...

Only compiz 0.2.2-1 is available on ppc right now.
I have xserver-xorg-core 2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-5.
What is the package name for the ati drivers ?

I will try that.

Currently, the situation is mostly the same :
- no window borders
- 100% CPU Usage even when idle
- blurry drawings
- it screws up the gnome desktop selector applet.

Thanks.

Bug#412598: compiz: unusable

2007-02-26 Thread Benoît Dejean
Package: compiz
Version: 0.2.2-1
Severity: normal

Compiz is mostly unusable because :
1) its slow. It takes several seconds to switch from one desktop to another.
2) desktop brightness/colors are strange, they look lighter.
3) some window parts are not displayed, which means that there are white
rectangles here and there on the screen.
4) some gnome-applets like the desktop-selector collapse into a single desktop
thumbnail

3 is really blocking.

Bug#374070: xkb-data: CustomKeycode disabled, no special keys on ppc with fr layout

2006-09-29 Thread Benoît Dejean
Package: xkb-data
Version: 0.8-15
Followup-For: Bug #374070

Hi,
i've upgraded and tried macintosh/fr and macintosh_vndr/fr.
With both layout, i can no longer type brackets, pipe, etc.

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
Driver "keyboard"
Option "CoreKeyboard"
Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
Option "XkbModel" "macintosh_vndr"
Option "XkbLayout" "fr"
EndSection

(**) |-->Input Device "Generic Keyboard"
(**) Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
(**) XKB: rules: "xorg"
(**) Option "XkbModel" "macintosh_vndr"
(**) XKB: model: "macintosh_vndr"
(**) Option "XkbLayout" "fr"
(**) XKB: layout: "fr"

How can i get these so useful keys back ? I don't know if they are, but
these keys should be mapped by default.
Thanks.

Bug#364363: xkb-data: custom keyboard layout no longer works

2006-04-22 Thread Benoît Dejean
Package: xkb-data
Version: 0.8-5
Severity: normal

Hi,
i've been using a custom keyboard layout on my ibook for
more than a year. It's derived from the popular fr_new layout. Tonight,
i've dist-upgrade my SID :
- whatever the X log says, it's not loaded

(**) Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
(**) XKB: rules: "xorg"
(**) Option "XkbModel" "macintosh"
(**) XKB: model: "macintosh"
(**) Option "XkbLayout" "fr_new"
(**) XKB: layout: "fr_new"
(**) Option "CustomKeycodes" "on"
(**) Keyboard: CustomKeycode disabled

with

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
Driver "keyboard"
Option "CoreKeyboard"
Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
Option "XkbModel" "macintosh"
Option "XkbLayout" "fr_new"
EndSection

- custom keys are no longer available (pipe, french guillement, brackets,
square brackets)
- i can't switch to consoles (ctrl-alt-F) anymore
- for example, right-arrow is no longer usable
it acts like a Home key. xev confirms it.

So using my ibook is really hard to use. Filling this bugreport was really
painfull.

Thanks.

Bug#286762: xfree86-common: X doesn't start with R200

2004-12-21 Thread Benoît Dejean
Package: xfree86-common
Version: 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

since i've upgraded, X is quite broken : i can't do start anything
(e.g gdm). When booting, X starts, then a message saying that X is
already loaded appears. I've tried to start X on another display but
it doesn't work. Every time i move my mouse, X restarts.

dmesg is full of
