On Sun, 14 Jan 2007, Brice Goglin wrote: Hi, About 3 years ago, you reported (or replied to) a bug in the Debian BTS regarding the keyboard not working in X unless vt7 was added to the config. Did any of you guys reproduce this problem recently? If not, I will close this bug in the next weeks. Hi! The problem is fixed for me, so for me you can close this bug. Bug#222831: same problem here: dead keyboard under X

If not, your problem could be a known race condition where the X server doesn't attach to the same VT it displays on; restarting the display manager fixes it. Make sure that gdm passes something like vt7 to the X server. Thank's for the hint! I added vt7 to the X call and since then it worked (about 3 reboots). I assume, that the problem is fixed now for me, if not, I'll report this here again. Thanks, Chris -- Christian Schwarz [EMAIL PROTECTED] Don't know Perl? Bug#222831: same problem here: dead keyboard under X
I just wanted to report that I'm experiencing the same problem here: when I start X via gdm, sometimes the keyboard is completely dead, sometimes it just works perfectly. Note that this happens only at startup--I don't have lock up problems within a X session. Im running xserver-xfree86 4.2.1-3.woody3 on a woody system. The problem is very annoying for me, so I'd be happy to get some hints how to fix this. Thanks, Chris -- Christian Schwarz [EMAIL PROTECTED] Don't know Perl?
