Bug#189399: Another possible workaround

2003-05-20 Thread Idan Sofer
I'm familiar with the problem you have described.

When switching a VT, specific operation from an X client results in an X
server crash, sometimes causing a kernel hang as well.

I say "specific" because icewm will rarely trigger this bug, a web page
with animation on galeon will often do, and kde is a trigger as well.

How much VideoRam did you allocate for the I810? I used to suffer from
this problem when it was set to 16MB, however It went away when reducing
VideoRam to 4MB

Package: xserver-xfree86

I've upgraded to 4.2.1-2 today, It works great and solved the problem of
crashing when switching VT's.

However, although the X11 log file reports DRI is enabled, that's not what
glxinfo reports:

Xine multimedia player for example does not display video using the Xv
video(I assume it's related), instead a green filled window is displayed.

An important note, I was first using kernel 2.4.17 and X complained about
DRI driver version mismatch.

I have then downloaded the latest DRI drivers from:
http://www.xfree86.org/~alanh

I thought perhaps i was doing something wrong, but found nothing on the
debian-devel-x archives, even tried enabling XvMC but it didn't do the trick.

I hope i havn't ran into something trivial, RTFM style...

Bug#164296: xserver-xfree86: DRI on I810 does not work properly on 4.2.1-2

2002-10-11 Thread Idan Sofer
Package: xserver-xfree86
Version: 4.2.1-2
Severity: normal
Tags: sid
