Bug#395025: The new driver fixes the problem for me
The new version (1.4.4) of the driver fixed this problem for me. It is a G400 card and all mesa applications frozed the system with the current version 1.4.2. By the way I had to recompile the driver. The proposed binary package attached in a previous message in the bug report is linked against the libc library from experimental and not the current one in etch/sid. Bug#252895: Solution in my case
The error that was triggered by the invocation of nedit was caused by the old file /usr/share/fonts/truetype/fonts.dir that was pointing to the font Courier_New.ttf in the same directory (where it was long ago). Removing the file /usr/share/fonts/truetype/fonts.dir solved the problem.
Bug#252895: X_OpenFont out of range
I am experiencing the same problem when I do start nedit. It crashes with error X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation) Major opcode of failed request: 45 (X_OpenFont) Value in failed request: 0x3800019 Serial number of failed request: 96 Current serial number in output stream: 97 On the other hand xfontsel seems to work nicely with only 8150 names matching. I do have msttcorefonts installed on an updated sarge system. Changing LC_ALL=C didn't help. Best regards, Joaquim
