Bug#463159: reassigning
reassign 463159 libxcb1 1.1-1 forwarded 463159 http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9528 thanks This bug is actually in libxcb1, not libx11-6. (Although I'm willing to be proven wrong, and that it's some *interaction* between libx11 and libxcb that's causing it.) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#463159: XCB-enabled libx11 causes hangs in various X clients
Package: libx11-6 Version: 2:1.1.3-1 Severity: critical This is only 'critical' because it causes unrelated software (e.g., Side Effects Software's Houdini) to break by causing hangs. Feel free to downgrade, but this is a very important bug to me, at least. This is also reported upstream: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9528 Simply upgrading to a XCB-enabled libx11 build causes clients to start hanging inside _XReply. There is a bunch of analysis at http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xcb/2007-August/002961.html too. To reproduce, download a build of Houdini 9.0 from www.sidefx.com and run it. You will see various hangs almost immediately upon running 'houdini'. I can help with all manner of debugging; I just don't understand X (and in particular, libx11 and XCB) enough to do this myself. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22-3-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages libx11-6 depends on: ii libc6 2.7-6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libx11-data 2:1.0.3-7 X11 client-side library ii libxcb-xlib0 1.1-1 X C Binding, Xlib/XCB interface li ii libxcb1 1.1-1 X C Binding ii x11-common1:7.3+10 X Window System (X.Org) infrastruc libx11-6 recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#221570: debconf chooses wrong resolution at High priority
Package: xserver-xfree86 Version: 4.2.1-14 Severity: important On my iBook with my debconf priority set to High, I got the option to set my highest resolution supported (via the medium-complexity modeline selector), but the default for resolutions to be used by X was set to 800x600 and 640x480, not including 1024x768 (which is all my iBook supports). Since my priority was set to High, I couldn't add 1024x768 to this and I got a useless screen until manually running dpkg-reconfigure.

Package: xserver-xfree86 Version: 4.2.1-5 Severity: important Tags: sid Once I'd upgraded to this version of X (without changing the previously-working configuration at all), it no longer starts, seemingly because of some modules which are missing or strangely compiled (?). Voodoo 5 (tdfx) at 24 bpp and dexter
I've got a Voodoo 5, and dexter defaults to 24 bpp for the tdfx driver, which doesn't agree with the driver (I don't think it properly supports anything but 16 bpp at the moment) so I get pretty much nothing but garbage until I change DefaultDepth to 16 rather than 24. I think this might be a reasonable default, at least for tdfx. Also, somewhat off-topic: Has 3dfx sync'ed their trees for XF86 (ie: the X server on linux.3dfx.com) with the Xfree4 tree? I notice some jittering in 3d games, etc, and lack of performance, which isn't present in their XFCOM server.

sessreg not included in xbase-clients 4.0.1-0phase2v13
For a while, I was seeing a mysterious inability for gdm to log in, and finally tracked it down to its /etc/gdm/PreSession/Default script, which calls /usr/X11R6/bin/sessreg. This is present in the woody version of X, but not in the new packages. Is this a bug in gdm, the new X packages, or has it moved to a new package from xbase-clients?
