Bug#478082: Xserver-xorg refuses to adjust to proper resolution and use Nvidia 6100 series GPU

2008-04-26 Thread John Kerr Anderson

Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.3+10ubuntu10
Severity: important

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Xserver-xorg refuses to adjust to proper resolution and use Nvidia 6100
series GPU. Old version of Ubuntu 7.10 would recognise that I needed
the Nvidia proprietary driver on a fresh install and would work. Latest
version on 8.04, I have to go into System -> Hardware Drivers, it then
recognises I need to install a proprietary drivers and says I need to
reboot to have the changes take effect. I reboot and I am still stuck
with 800x600 resolution at 56 hz.

Bug#394803: xserver-xorg-video-nv: mouse disappears when logging out

2006-11-16 Thread John Kerr Anderson
Package: xserver-xorg-video-nv
Version: 1:1.2.0-3
Followup-For: Bug #394803

mouse works when I boot up and log in. If I try to log out mouse
disappears permanently! The only way I can get it back is to either
reboot the system or use the VESA driver. Hoping that this issue can be
solved as it is rather impleasant. Thank you in advance :)

S3 Trio 64V+ (86C765) > 8 bit colour

2001-04-09 Thread John Kerr Anderson
I have been trying to configure my PC with greater than 8 > bit colour.
If I use a resolution of greater than 640 x 480, I get a ghost image of
objects displayed on the screen. The screen also flickers the ghost
images a lot. I have tried different monitors. We also have an earlier
version of the IBM PC 350 with a std. Trio 64 chip set which also
experiences that same problem. When used previously with SuSe 6.4, I
believe the PC worked with 16 bit colour at 800 x 600.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems? I put the Trio64V+ bug lines
in the file, which I think has allowed it to use 16 bit
colour in 640 x 480 mode.

P.S. I don't currently subscribe to this list so make sure you CC me or
send a message directly to me. Thank you!
