Do we still need to keep it open to debug the BTS? I don't know; this is more a question for Don than anybody else. He's merged these bugs and tagged them pending so presumably he has a handle on the situation. He's also said to me that BTS "found" only has the effect of implicitly reopening a bug when the found version *exactly* matches the fixed version, not just if $found lt-ln $fixed, although it was my understanding that this was one fundamental goal of bts versioning. Bug#411877: nv video driver garbles screen when I wake up
Package: xserver-xorg-video-nv Version: 1.2.0-3 Severity: normal Typically when I go to bed I close my laptop CRT screen. Sometimes when I wake up I open it to find that the screen is garbled; the left side is blank, and the right side shows some unusable colors... Some combination of c+a+f1, fn+f7 ("font change"), fn+f8 ("crt/lcd switch") usually fixes it. The one case I can remember where it didn't fix it, I don't think I used fn+f8. Hello, I'm recently looked at a bunch of people's maintscripts, and noted a number a strange-looking things. I'm mailing you because you maintain one of the strangest of them. If you know more than me, and everythinig is okay and as intended, then feel free to discard this message (but consider making it more obvious why things are done in what seems to be a nonintuitive way, or explaining stuff to me otherwise :). The strange things are: at.prerm This script isn't set -e, checks for executability of a different thing than I would expect, based on comparison with other maintscripts, and calls invoke-rc.d atd stop || true, which both ignores errors from invoke-rc.d, and fails to stop atd if invoke-rc.d doesn't exist [0] or returns nonsuccessfully, etc. klogd.postinst This script disables set -e while running the initscript, which itself isn't set -e. It also runs the initscript with "sh" instead of calling it directly. libc6.postinst Runs a ".sh" initscript, which has [recently] been changed to be sourced, rather than run. Uses || true, and 2>/dev/null. At least it says "don't copy this as an example". mysql-server-5.0.postrm Uses set +e while running the initscripts. x11-common.config Calls invoke-rc.d without a fall-back calling the init script directly [0], and ignore the exit status. [0] It seems like this will fail with initng from experimental, which doesn't (yet?) have an invoke-rc.d. Justin -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". I'm more convinced than ever that this is a blackbox bug. When the window shifts itself to the center row, the position which blackbox indicates for the window is: 2147483647 aka INT32_MAX. Not only that, moving by one pixel changes the X position to 2147483647. The Y position is never really visible, since the X position takes up so much space .. but it appears to work as expected; 0 at the top of the screen and 700 at the bottom. Bug#294878: reproduce?
I just compiled xterm, version "XFree86 4.2.99.903(174)" and can't reproduce it with that. The version that crashes is "XTerm(197)". The me-compiled version is not stripped. Instead of crashing, the me-compiled version DOES pop up an TEK window. Justin -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#294878: info
Runtime electric-fence did not help. I can also reproduce this if I - ssh -X to cyberia - start an xterm So I don't think it has anything to do with ssh (should be transparent), and xterm has a problem even if ssh was doing sth funky. I'm including a strace of the xterm. I'm not sure how to debug this much more; I can install the x-dbg package, but I guess it won't help unless I can avert the stack smash. err.bz2 Description: Binary data
Bug#294878: xterm: segmentation fault NOT IN XawTreeForceLayout()
Package: xterm Version: 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 Severity: normal I can consistently crash xterm. Its not an exact dupe of #255749, since a breakpoint at XawTreeForceLayout was never crossed, but it gets SEGV anyway. Steps to reproduce: open xterm on andromeda; (in xterm) ssh to cyberia (on cyberia) cd iraf; ds9& cl; cl> tv cl> imedit (press some alphabet keys, I don't know what they do, but they're inputs to the imedit command); then, h (apparently an undocumented imedit input) causes xterm to SEGV with a stack smash. IRAF is sufficiently obscure that people may have trouble reproducing this (it may even be something wrong with IRAF, as well, since I'm experimenting with it). I can provide a shell account if necessary, or strace something to see what inputs xterm is getting, if you tell me how. This may well involve the TEK window; I've never actually used imedit before, so I don't know what its supposed to be doing:) And I'll try to get more info on this somehow. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.9Y Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages xterm depends on: ii libc62.3.2.ds1-20GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libexpat11.95.8-1XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libfontconfig1 2.2.3-4 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.1.7-2.3 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libice6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libncurses5 5.4-4 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libsm6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System Session Management ii libxaw7 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Athena widget set library ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxft2 2.1.2-6 FreeType-based font drawing librar ii libxmu6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System miscellaneous util ii libxpm4 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X pixmap library ii libxrender1 0.8.3-7 X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxt6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Toolkit Intrinsics ii xlibs4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu ii xlibs-data 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System client data -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Right; I think I've made the same comment myself. I take it you're not using a dynamically created /dev (such as udev or devfs)? What are /dev/mouse and /dev/psaux on your system? Bug#232357: mkdirhier patch
The attached script fixes the problem by adding a conditional. Its not a beautiful solution, but the original has similar workarounds: ("# IFS parsing is broken") Someone should forward upstream (whatever that is these days) and beautify to taste. Bug#173071: Attempted to reproduce failed
Attached is a gtk2 program which sets the "primary selection". As written, it should set the selection to be a string of "length" 6: "\0\0\0\0\0\0". Middle clicking in xterm does not cause anything to be pasted, and it does not crash. I recommend that this bug is closed.
