The system that had this problem has not changed since then, and still
has it, but I have had plans to try out Kubuntu Edgy on it. If I do,
I'll look.

Cheers,

Bug#228898: MTRR problem seen on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D

2004-03-01 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
FWIW, I have seen the error message "mtrr: no more MTRR's available" on
my mother's laptop, showing up in dmesg more than a hundred times.

This system is not online and accessible to me now, so I can't check the
details, but it is a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D, a fairly early version, I
think it has a Celeron 1GHz CPU. That could hint about the details of
the system if anybody knows this line of products. The system is
running mostly Woody, but because I couldn't get the video card to work
with 4.1.0, I used somebody's 4.2 backports, but I can't remember
whose.

At first it seemed to cause the system to be very slow, but I now
believe that was unrelated, and that the problem has no readily visible
consequences.

That's about all I have now, I'm afraid. However, if it is interesting,
please let me know and let me know where to dig for stuff of more
interest, I could give it a shot when I have access to it again.

Best,

Kjetil
