Bug#606332: /usr/bin/xset: [xset] Mouse acceleration below 1 (= slowing down) does not work

2010-12-08 Thread Marc-Jano Knopp
Package: x11-xserver-utils
Version: 7.5+2
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/xset

I'm trying to slow down my mouse (for my desktop only, as opposed for
games) using this:

  xset m 1/10 1

But it's the same as

  xset m 1 1

i. e. does not slow down my mouse. Accelerations above 1 work.

Bug#569539: beep in xterm doesn't work

2010-05-01 Thread Marc-Jano Knopp
Package: xterm
Version: 256-1
Severity: normal

Although version 256-1 brings back the beep, it's not possible to
switch the bell off: xset b off, xset -b and xset b 0 have no
effect in a xterm, pterm and Iceweasel. Tried xset b on also to no
avail, just in case someone mixed up on and off.

Bug#575486: xdm: Input field cursor reveals password length

2010-03-26 Thread Marc-Jano Knopp
Package: xdm
Version: 1:1.1.9-1
Severity: normal

After upgrading from xdm 1:1.1.8-6 to 1:1.1.9-1, the password input
field cursor moves a little to the right (maybe a space character in
proportional font) for each password character typed, so that it gives
a hint about how long the password is. Although this is not as obvious
as printing asterisks or similar, it should not happen.

I'm not sure if this report belongs to xdm or to xserver-xorg, and/or
xserver-xorg-input-all, since at the same time of upgrading xdm, the
following upgrades took place:

  [UPGRADE] xserver-xorg 1:7.5+3 - 1:7.5+5
  [UPGRADE] xserver-xorg-input-all 1:7.5+3 - 1:7.5+5

As the symptom shows in xdm, I'm reporting it for this package.

[Bug?] xorg dependencies make installation of libgl1-mesa-swx11 impossible

2006-09-26 Thread Marc-Jano Knopp
Hi!

This looks like a bug, but I'm not sure about it, so before reporting
it, I want to ask about it here:

I'm using Etch on a box with a Matrox G450. As running glxgears using
libgl1-mesa-dri crashed my box a while ago (only Alt-SysRq-... worked),
I wanted to install libgl1-mesa-swx11 again.

But with xorg 1:7.0.22, I cannot install libgl1-mesa-swx11 (see
transcript at the end of this mail).

xorg depends on libgl1-mesa-glx, which provides libgl1 and thus
conflicts with libgl1-mesa-swx11, which also provides libgl1.

Is this a bug, or did I miss something? Should xorg only depend on
libgl1, or shouldn't libgl1-mesa-dri and -swx11 provide libgl1?

If it's a bug, should I use reportbug to report it officially?

Best regards
