Bug#626549: xserver-xorg-input-evdev: middle mouse button emulation doesn't anymore by default

2011-05-12 Thread Matthieu CASTET
Package: xserver-xorg-input-evdev
Version: 1:2.6.0-2+b1
Severity: normal

Hi,

lot's of latops have on 2 buttons mouse (not a touchpad handled by synaptics
driver).
21a2ac818e75ef918d320ce1e88b6263e68e598d broke them.

What a shame, that make them very hard to use with X.

Are there any option to restore it by default ?

Ubuntu want to use quirk
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/710762/comments/9)

What's the debian position ?

What can be done to help debugging that ?

What's weird is that after rebooting the other mouse is now seen as keyboard

Bug#626277: xserver-xorg-core: blacklist accelerometer

2011-05-10 Thread Matthieu CASTET
Package: xserver-xorg-core
Version: 2:1.10.1-2
Severity: normal

Hi,

using Accelerometer on X make mouse unusable (it regenerate absolute event) :
the mouse cursor stuck in the center of the screen.

My pc got one : ST LIS3LV02DL Accelerometer (/dev/input/event7)

A workaround could be to blacklist accelerometer device

with something like :

Section "InputClass"
Identifier "no need for accelerometers in X"
   MatchProduct "ccelerometer"
   Option "Ignore" "on"
EndSection

[ 6806.160] (II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "SynPS/2 Synaptics

Note that I added to /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf
"MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"

But that shouldn't affect MatchIsKeyboard behavior.

I attach new Xorg log.

Bug#564437: xserver-xorg-dev: bad dependencies on xserver-xorg-core

2010-01-09 Thread matthieu castet
Package: xserver-xorg-dev
Version: 2:1.6.5-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

there is no dependencies between xserver-xorg-core and xserver-xorg-dev.
This means it is possible to have xserver-xorg-core and
xserver-xorg-dev with different version.

This make imposible to use xserver-xorg-dev in the current machine,
because Xorg binary (from xserver-xorg-core), will try to check the
version of headers (from xserver-xorg-dev) and fails.

I got :
hi xserver-xorg-core2:1.4.2-11
Xorg X server - core server
ii xserver-xorg-dev 2:1.6.5-1

When trying to load a module that I built, I got :
(II) Module : vendor="X.Org Foundation"
compiled for 1.6.5, module version = 0.0.10
Module class: X.Org Video Driver
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 5.0
(EE) module ABI major version (5) doesn't match the server's version (2)

This may be related to #524076, but after a dist-upgrade the keyboard layout is

This can be a problem for people using non-us keyboard, and make it really

Bug#451791: xserver-xorg-video-intel: Fonts and many other items fail to render legibly

2008-06-02 Thread Matthieu CASTET

Brice Goglin wrote:

Hello people having display corruption on i965,

Could you try adding

to the Device section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf?

(and if not already done, you can try Option "AccelMethod" "XAA" as well)

EXA Composite seems to be a good candidate for this kind of breakage.

That's what I did and it solve the problem.

But with new version (last from debian sid) EXA work again.

Hi,

since december the xserver-xorg-video-intel driver doesn't work with exa

Forcing XAA mode make the driver work again.

PS : 2:2.2.0+git20080107-1 doesn't slove the problem.

I am wondering: IIRC, greedy isn't the default, what's the point of
using it instead of the default?
greedy is useful with driver that doesn't have a full hw exa
implementation : this avoid to use slow fallback.

IRRC greedy is also recommended for the nv driver when using exa on nv50.

So nouveau really works? Great.
yes it starts to work fine for 2D and works is done to improve exa
performance by using 3D engine.

And you really get DRI?
Yes I even got glxgears on my card :)(see
http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/PatriceMandin?highlight=%28patrice%29
for a screenshot).

But dri is far from being usable (ie nothing work).

We should really package this driver...

May be you should have to ask some questions on nouveau irc.

It could be experimental on some configurations and not ready for
everybody :

- EXA could be slow (ie greedy mode should be used).
- no real 3D
- may be some cards miss stuff (but in these case, tester could be great).

AFAIK fedora started to package it some time ago, but they stop.

In fact the led isn't turn on when we came back from another vt.

Step to reproduce :
activate numlock
switch to vt1 (in my case numlock was enable)
switch to vt7 (X server), and the numlock led will be turned off.
