Bug#390319: Me too

2006-10-30 Thread Nick Rusnov
I have this problem also. Also the workaround works (but slows things
down somewhat). This particularly effects terminal windows and dialogs
(or maybe I just notice it in those more because they open and close
more, and in the case of dialogs, are unsizable and thus unrecoverable).

My hardware is an i910, using the latest xorg (1:7.1.0-5) and compiz
(0.2.0-1).

Bug#391072: compiz: screen looks completely white, but some effects are present

2006-10-04 Thread Nick Rusnov
Running compiz shows my whole screen white. Playing with the keybindings
show that some effects are running fine (the cube, the switcher, etc)
but only the icons get displayed, everything else is blank.

I have a i810. Attached goes my xorg.conf. Any further info I may give
 you, please ask.

Hi,

I had exactly this problem on the same hardware. I had installed etch
and upgraded to unstable (well, partially), in order to run compiz. It
turns out the 'partially' nature of the upgrade was the culprit, at
least in part, in that when I upgraded libgl the problem was fixed. It
seems that compiz doesn't depend on a sufficiently new libgl for this
hardware or something.

The graphics chip and the USB controller (?) share IRQ 16. If you can
change that somehow, that would be interesting to try.

I've tried removing the offending board, so that no IRQs are shared,
and I get the same result.

Incidently at the same time I also tried removing all the extra
hardware, disabling various things, and making sure no extra drivers
are loaded, all with no effect.

interesting. Are there any kernel-images that do work for you when DRI
 is enabled?

Not that I discovered. In 2.4 it acts as it does in 2.6 without
inserting the agp drivers (the same error in the log, and Direct Rendering:
No, but X works). I believe this is because my bus isn't supported by
agpgart in 2.4.

Could you try unloading some modules like the firewire, usb and bttv
 stuff before starting X?

I will try this.

Also, complete log of a working X server, 'cat /proc/interrupts' and
'lspci -v' would be interesting, too.

Bug#231837: [wacom] total X lockup while querying device if it isn't on/connected

2004-02-09 Thread Nick Rusnov

Package: xserver-xfree86
Version: 4.2.1-16
Severity: wishlist

If the wacom driver is loaded in the configuration file for the X
server, but the device isn't connected to the computer and on, then
applications that query extended device information, such as every gtk
app, cause the server to freeze for upwards of 12 seconds while they
load. It'd be nice if this didn't happen.

Re: i386 user needed to build/test XFree86 r951 in branches/4.3.0/sid

2004-01-21 Thread Nick Rusnov

I have built r951 as specified in the previous email, and it seems to
have built successfully (no FTBFS).

I haven't been able to test the packages yet, but it was said that
the critical part was seeing that it built at all, which it did.
