Bug#1042839: xserver-xorg-video-radeon: modprobe radeon reboots the machine randomly then the usb mouse does not work on Xorg on restart

2023-08-01 Thread rpnpif
Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeon
Version: 1:19.1.0-3~bpo11+1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

When Debian starts, it reboots randomly at the moment when the radeon
module is enabled. This occurs 3 times of 4 on normal boot mode and
about 1 time of 3 on maintenance boot mode.

Then the USB mouse does not work on Xorg.
When the boot works fine and modprobe radeon is well enabled, all works
fine.

When I run the BIOS settings page in graphics mode and with the mouse, the BIOS
works fine, then if I reboots, all work fine
always.

If I run Linux Mint from a USB key and then I reboots on Debian, all
works fine always.

A compilation of xserver-xorg-video-radeon to backport from 1:19.1.0-2 to the
1:19.1.0-3
release does not fix the issue.

Expected: the system should not reboot when the radeon was enabled.

Note: These bottom logs are done when the system works fine.

Regards.

You are right!
The 2:2.99.917+git20160706-1~bpo8+1 release works fine but not
2:2.99.917+git20161105-1~bpo8+1.

So it is really a regression on the last release.
Perhaps a wrong choice of the best iface or about, or other thing.

My system have two backlight interfaces:
/sys/class/backlight/eeepc and /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight

The first is safer but the second permits atomic variations of the
backlight.

Thank you.

I spoke about the previous version in Jessie-backports. I do not
remember the reference.

I am not sure that xserver-xorg-video-intel is the culprit because
lightdm works fine.

Joined the logs.

Bug#810624: xfonts-scalable: Lucida font manages badly the characters positions

2016-01-10 Thread rpnpif
Package: xfonts-scalable
Version: 1:1.0.3-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Lucida font does not put the non-ASCII character in correct position.

To reproduce, do :
In Xfce-terminal, type "Une œuvre idyllique de 3 m³"
œ walk on the following u. the character i is not on the right position.
And 3 m³ is displayed 3³m.

In Iceweasel, "3m³" is displayed with the 3 over the m".

So Lucida is unusabled.

Microsoft Windows has not this issues with Lucida in Firefox.

Bug#683498: xorg: temporary video corruption on new window or frames with Radeon

2012-08-08 Thread Alain Rpnpif
Hello,

I have found some elements about this issue.

I had somewhere an export vblank_mode=1.
When vblank_mode=2 (default value that means synchronized to the
vertical refresh), there are not still video corruption when I am
logged, but under gdm3, they exists still.

vblank_mode=2 gets best videos movies playing results (flashplayer) but
poor gtk performance (with getkperf).

No, video corruptions are back. Perhaps, it is about a video cache.
Because, I have no video corruption when I display a second time an
element. But i confirm the best video movies playing.
