Bug#613299: xv support disapeared with the new xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in wheezy

2011-05-08 Thread Stephane Louise
2011/5/8 Julien Cristau jcris...@debian.org:
Could be a kernel issue, it looks like none of the devices are marked as
primary so X doesn't know which one it should use.

I really doubt so, in fact, as the radeon card doesn't work at all
under linux (no AtomBios, since it is a card for powerMac). The
kernel fails to even initialize it.
I will check by forcing the nouveau driver in the xorg.conf, though. back soon.

Thanks for the tips.

Stephane

Bug#613299: xv support disapeared with the new xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in wheezy

2011-05-08 Thread Stephane Louise
OK, Sven had the key of the problem. Forcing the use of Nouveau for
the xserver did the tip.
Sorry for the inconvenience: as the server started and was mostly
working I assumed wrongly that the xserver figured out by itself which
card to use. It was halt right only :)

I'll fill a bug repport against xserver-xorg-core as recommended.

Stephane

Bug#626109: xserver-xorg-core: Bad auto-init of Xorg with 2 graphic cards (one being invalid)

2011-05-08 Thread Stephane Louise
Package: xserver-xorg-core
Version: 2:1.9.5-1
Severity: important
Tags: d-i

Hi,

After discuting and disculping the nouveau driver from the last update, it
seems that the designated culprit for the bad Xorg initialization with the last
update may be xserver-xorg-core, even thought it didn't appeared in the last
update (but it may be a side effect of my very peculiar situation).

Let's start with my machine:

$ uname -a

As you can see, there are 2 graphic card: nVidia NV43 (which more or less works
with kms and nouveau), and a Radeon R580, which doesn't work at all under linux
(with linux-2.6.32 it was because there was no AtomBios, and with linux-2.6.38,
it is simply because it's not x86...). So let's continue:

Bug#400507: Info received (Bug#400507: Endianess problem whith compiz on PPC)

2006-12-08 Thread Stephane Louise
OK, xorg-core propagated to testing/Etch. Package updated yesterday and
the bug no longer appears on my Mac-mini. It can be closed AFAIKS.

Thank you for all.

Paul Collins a écrit :

This sounds like bug #392453. With the updated packages installed,
compiz now displays correctly on my PowerBook.

Indeed, it seems I wrote a bug report the same day the package was
updated to unstable. My bad.

Hence, I'll wait for the new xorg-core 1.1.1-11 to propagate to testing.
Sorry for the bother.

Bug#400507: Endianess problem whith compiz on PPC

2006-11-26 Thread Stephane Louise

Package: compiz-core
Version: 0.2.2-1

I tried compiz on my PPC mac-mini, but colours are wrongs. Compiz itself
seems to have a little warning when it is starts:

~$ compiz --replace
[1] 6396
~$ libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
/usr/bin/compiz.real: water: GL_ARB_fragment_program is missing

Nonetheless, OpenGl programs and games are working the way the ought to
be, with correct colours. Compiz is the only one presenting a colour bug.

Observed effects are: a quite uniform blue shade (the blue and magenta
syndrome), and some colour inversions (green to red, etc).

I saw that the same exact bug had been corrected for the ubuntu version
of the Beryl project. The related page is:

http://blog.effraie.org/index.php/post/2006/10/26/Beryl/Emerald-sur-Edgy-PPC

and the related screenshot of the infamous blue shade is here (for beryl
also):

http://vrac.effraie.org/beryl.png

If necessary I can provide the same kind of screenshot for the Debian
version of compiz.
Last, but not least, on the first link I provided, it is said that the
bug is xorg related rather than Beryl related, in this case. Since the
symptoms look the same, I expect the reasons are the same here, but I
cannot be sure.

I use a fairly up to date Etch Debian distribution with the standard
linux 2.6.17-2-powerpc kernel.

The videocard as listed by lspci:
:00:10.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV280
[Radeon 9200] (rev 01)

And I use the standard aty/radeon drivers for xorg.
