Bug#738106: +1 for this issue
Package: xorg Version: 1:7.7+19 Dear Maintainer, I too experienced the bug detailed at https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=738106 * What led up to the situation? I ran the command "systemctl hibernate" and left my computer overnight before resuming it in the morning. After resume, my mouse pointer jumps about the screen erratically but is shown in the right place maybe half of the time. Logical effects of the mouse pointer (window focus, where I click, etc) do not follow these erratic motions. I have not experienced the multi-colored horizontal lines mentioned in the original bug. This occurs with both the touchpad built into my laptop and a USB mouse. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I tried putting the computer through a suspend/resume cycle but this did not correct the problem. My laptop is a Thinkpad x240 i7-4600U (Intel graphics). Thanks, and happy hacking! -- Package-specific info: X server symlink status: /etc/X11/X does not exist lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 Oct 14 2017 /usr/bin/X -> /usr/bin/Xorg -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 274 Oct 14 2017 /usr/bin/Xorg VGA-compatible devices on PCI bus: -- 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0b) /etc/X11/xorg.conf does not exist drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Sep 10 12:47 /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 183 Sep 10 12:47 /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-keyboard.conf -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 131 Sep 10 12:47 /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-custom-kbd.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-keyboard.conf - Section "InputClass" Identifier "Keyboard layout configuration" # any value works here MatchIsKeyboard "on" # limit these settings to keyboards Option "XkbLayout" "gb" EndSection /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-custom-kbd.conf --- Section "InputClass" Identifier "keyboard defaults" MatchIsKeyboard "on" Option "XKbOptions" "caps:escape" EndSection KMS configuration files: /etc/modprobe.d/dkms.conf: # modprobe information used for DKMS modules # # This is a stub file, should be edited when needed, # used by default by DKMS. Same problem on my thinkpad t470s running sid (also confirmed by a colleague with the same model), both on main and external screens. Reverting to version 2:2.99.917+git20171229-1 also solved the issue. Kernel 4.16.0-2-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.16.12-1 (2018-05-27).

Bug#746033: libxkbcommon0:i386 not installable on multiarch
Package: libxkbcommon0 Version: 0.4.0-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, libxkbcommon0:i386 isn't installable on multiarch (amd64), because it depends on a i386 xkb-data package, which doesn't exist (xkb-data is actually an all-architecture package). This makes impossible to use some i386 applications on mutiarch (say, anything that depends on SDL2), as they have libxkbcommon0 as a dependency, which cannot be installed because of this issue: Sample output: tomman@himawari:~$ LANG=en sudo apt-get install libxkbcommon0:i386 Reading package lists... Bug#581763: xserver-xorg-core: xinerama stops working with LeftOf
Package: xserver-xorg-core Version: 2:1.7.7-1 Severity: important There is an upstream regression in the X server which prevents (true) Xinerama from working when the LeftOf directive is used to specify a screen to the left of a lower-numbered screen. This causes the mouse to wrap from the left of the previous screen to the most rightmost screen instead of entering the LeftOf screen. The upstream bug report is at http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24986 The patch which fixes this is at http://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=35383 Recompiling applying this patch fixes the issue. Bug#555294: xserver-xorg-video-ivtv: TV output on Hauppauge PVR 350 stops working after upgrade
Package: xserver-xorg-video-ivtv Version: 1.0.1-1 Severity: normal I upgraded a Knoppmyth system using apt-get update ; apt-get dist-upgrade, and the TV output via the PVR-350's composite out stopped working. The X11 server seems to be starting up fine, but nothing ultimately shows up on my television. It acts like it's not see a signal at all on the composite video in. Oddly enough, I can connect to the X11 server from another machine via LAN using xvnc4viewer, and that looks just fine. r...@mythtv:/usr/share/doc/ivtv-utils# lsmod Module Size Used by autofs416452 0 rfcomm 28272 0 l2cap 17248 5 rfcomm bluetooth 44996 4 rfcomm,l2cap ppdev 6468 0 parport_pc 22500 0 lp 8164 0 parport30988 3 ppdev,parport_pc,lp battery10180 0 nfsd 186864 17 auth_rpcgss33952 1 nfsd exportfs3936 1 nfsd nfs 214216 0 lockd 54568 2 nfsd,nfs nfs_acl 2912 2 nfsd,nfs sunrpc162528 13 nfsd,auth_rpcgss,nfs,lockd,nfs_acl wlan_tkip 10272 2 jfs 148940 1 nls_base6820 1 jfs ipv6 235396 31 fuse 42908 1 tea5767 6020 0 mt20xx 10824 0 arc41824 0 serio_raw 4740 0 crc_itu_t 2080 0 pcmcia 29548 0 yenta_socket 20620 0 rsrc_nonstatic 9504 1 yenta_socket pcmcia_core31892 3 pcmcia,yenta_socket,rsrc_nonstatic sbp2 18572 0 ohci1394 24976 0 ieee1394 75832 2 sbp2,ohci1394 usb_storage77120 0 ohci_hcd 18532 0 cx88_vp3054_i2c 2528 0 cx8802 13604 0 cx88xx 61704 1 cx8802 saa7134_dvb17420 0 saa7134 125044 1 saa7134_dvb ir_kbd_i2c 7120 1 saa7134 videobuf_dvb4580 1 saa7134_dvb nvram 7116 0 dvb_bt8xx 13316 0 dvb_core 66528 3 saa7134_dvb,videobuf_dvb,dvb_bt8xx bt878 8792 1 dvb_bt8xx bttv 148116 2 dvb_bt8xx,bt878 ir_common 39620 4 cx88xx,saa7134,ir_kbd_i2c,bttv i2c_piix4 7216 0 # cat /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 8 model name : Pentium III (Coppermine) stepping: 3 cpu MHz : 701.596 cache size : 256 KB fdiv_bug: no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug: no coma_bug: no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 2 wp

Package: libxcursor1 Version: 1:1.1.9-1 Severity: normal When the core.theme (and any theme that uses cursors from core.theme like redglass.theme) is activated (update-alternatives --config x-cursor-theme and x restart), the cursors are misdrawn. Bug#446385: xserver-xorg: single mouse click registers as double click
Package: xserver-xorg Version: 1:7.3+2 Severity: normal I just upgraded xserver-xorg to a new version, and now when I make a single left mouse click from my Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical USB mouse it registers as a double click. This behavior occurs in all my applications and gnome-panel menus. It also occurs when I click the left mouse button Dell Latitude D410's builtin touch pad. By the way, my system sometimes freezes when I logout without shutting down. The screen goes mostly back. There are some blocks of gray towards the bottom of the screen. Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, Ctrl-Alt-Del, Alt-F1, etc. don't have any effect. -- Package-specific info: Contents of /var/lib/x11/X.roster: xserver-xorg /etc/X11/X target does not match checksum in /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum. Bug#402673: Update: behaviour changed, still broken
Package: xserver-xorg-video-trident Version: 1:1.2.3-1 Followup-For: Bug #402673 Just providing an update on the situation: it now leaves the resolution at 1024x768 when the brightness changes, but it fills the screen with junk. Bug#402673: xserver-xorg-video-trident: Unwanted resolution change on backlight brightness change
Package: xserver-xorg-video-trident Version: 1:1.2.3-1 Severity: important Using a CyberBlade XP4m32 on a Toshiba R100 laptop. When the display brightness changes (eg. after timeout, using KDE's laptop facilities), the resolution switches to 640x480, showing only the top-left corner of the screen. The virtual desktop size doesn't change from the 1024x768 it was before, and moving the mouse doesn't move the 640x480 window onto this. Switching to the console and back again (Ctrl-Alt-F1, Alt-F7) changes it back to the full 1024x768. Similarly, putting the laptop into Suspend-to-RAM mode and back fixes it. -- Package-specific info: Contents of /var/lib/x11/X.roster: xserver-xfree86 xserver-xorg /etc/X11/X target does not match checksum in /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum. Re: Bug#378594: xserver-xorg-video-ati: Can't get Radeon 7500 / Mobility M6 / RV200 TV out working
Mark, I had a similar issue, and just got my TV out working. I have an all-in-wonder radeon, and was getting bios/text output working fine, but starting X with the TV output enabled, caused both the CRT and TV to go blank. I ran across this howto: http://megahurts.dk/rune/tv_output.html The thing that worked for me was to move/remove theatre_detect_drv.so from it's current location so it doesn't get loaded. This module conflicts with the TV output module (at least on the all-in-wonder, it does). If that doesn't work, try some of the other troubleshooting items from the link. Hope that helps. Bug#354221: xserver-xorg: confirming freezes with radeon driver
Package: xserver-xorg Version: 1:7.0.22 Followup-For: Bug #354221 Hi, I am not sure if I should open a new bugreport on my issue, but this one seems actually the most appropriate one to add my information as the problem is similar. System gets locked up with xorg 7.0.22. I did a fresh install so I don't know if these problems would have also occured with previous versions. Locked up means: no Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, no pinging over network, no mouse, no keyboard. I mainly found the freezes occuring when using firefox - sometimes even at the exact same point. From what I heard firefox uses acceleration. This might be related to #319263. But in gerneal the system freezes now and then. So I set NoAccel to true and since then I didn't experience a single freeze. Before I had at least 1-2 freezes a day and I didn't experience any freeze for about 2 weeks now. Uncommenting DRI or GLX didn't work for me AFAIR - I think I tried all possible combination of disabling the one and enabling the other or disabling them alltogether. Using the ATI driver did not help either. There's another bugreport which might be related: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6429 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lspci | grep VGA 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility M6 LY [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ uname -r 2.6.17-1-686 If you need any other info, let me know. New 'nv' support with trunk+(nv from sanitized)?
All: I'm looking for advice on how to build a version of the 'nv' driver to support a recent nVidia GPU. My old laptop died (unfortunately) and that has led me to tentatively replacing it with the HP zd7260us which contains { 0x10DE0347, GeForce FX Go5700 }, I have built the proprietary nVidia driver, but it causes my system to hang hard (I've detailed the configuration on nvNews): http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=376642#post376642 (I am currently using the vesa driver) The current release does not have support for this GPU: http://necrotic.deadbeast.net/xsf/XFree86/xfree86_4.3.0.dfsg.1.orig.tar.gz http://necrotic.deadbeast.net/xsf/XFree86/trunk/debian/patches/000_stolen_from_HEAD_nv_driver.diff (Note: X.org CVS does not have it either) However, the sanitized release does have it (line 198): http://necrotic.deadbeast.net/xsf/XFree86/xfree86-CVS-pre-4.4.0-RC3-new-license-sanitized/xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/drivers/nv/nv_driver.c So is the best approach to replace the 'nv' contents from xfree86-4.3.0 with those from xfree86-CVS-pre-4.4.0-RC3-new-license-sanitized and then continue as documented in...? http://necrotic.deadbeast.net/xsf/XFree86/HACKING.txt 5) Change directories into the unpackaged source tree. cd xfree86-4.3.0 5.5) (new step) mv xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/drivers/nv xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/drivers/nv.430 cp -r /data/xfree86-CVS-pre-4.4.0-RC3-new-license-sanitized/xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/drivers/nv/ xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/drivers/ 6) Remove the debian/ directory. rm -r debian 7) Export the debian directory of the trunk of the XFree86 Subversion repository. svn export svn://necrotic.deadbeast.net/xfree86/trunk/debian debian (You can use the --revision option if necessary.) . There will likely be various problems applying the patches in the nv directory, but this should be fewer things to resolve than building the complete sanitized tree (without the benefit of the full debianization during this period of transition to X.next) Regards, --Tom P.S. I am relatively new to Debian and I am constantly amazed at breadth and depth of quality work here.

Radeon screen corruption
(I apologize if this isn't the correct list to ask - I would really appreciate being told where the correct place is.) I have a dual-head setup, with an AGP Geforce card and a PCI Radeon QD, with the latest Nvidia binary driver and the ati driver supplied with XFree86 (Branden's 4.2.1-0pre1v2). This has been stable so far, but the Radeon has a lot of screen corruption. Here is a screenshot: http://www.cs.wustl.edu/~ttjoseph/radeon/snapshot1.png The corruption goes away if I use 'Option XaaNoScreenToScreenCopy' but then screen updates are annoyingly slow. Mouse hangs in 4.1.0-9
My mouse occasionally hangs with 4.1.0-9 while I am in X using a window manager and doing work - i.e. it stops responding to mouse movement. It can take a few minutes or a few days or anywhere in between for the mouse to hang; I haven't been able to figure out what triggers it. I have an M$ Intellimouse Explorer PS/2 (in XF86Config-4: Option Protocol ExplorerPS/2), and when the mouse pointer hangs the LED on the back of the mouse goes off, though the LED that it actually seems to use for tracking still works - seems to imply that data is no longer being exchanged through the PS/2 port. Exiting my window manager and returning to kdm makes the mouse work again. I didn't have problems with previous packaging revisions of 4.1.0. With -9pre10v1 the problem gets worse; the mouse and keyboard become hung right when X starts, every time I've tried to start it - I can't even get a chance to use kdm to login, I have to ssh in from another box to kill X - and sometimes even when X is killed the keyboard still doesn't work at the text console. Downgrading to -9 restored the less problematic state described above, which makes it seem to me like it has something to do with packaging. Running kernel 2.4.12-ac3 with sid updated daily; I'd be glad to provide more information if told what is needed. 6pre7v3 not starting possible solution
I did some poking around in my /etc/X11 and think I found some issues: - As Warren Turkal mentioned, the contents of /etc/X11/Xsession.d/ should probably be chmod +x, so run-parts as used in /etc/X11/Xsession will return a list of the files in that directory like we want. Otherwise it returns an error of the form run-parts: component %s is not an executable plain file. - The contents of /etc/X11/Xresources/ should also be chmod +x, or run-parts as used in etc/X11/Xsession.d/30xfree86-common_xresources will be unhappy as described above. - In /etc/X11/Xsession.d/99xfree86-common_start, I changed the line: exec $REALSTARTUP to: exec $REALSTARTUP The problem was that $REALSTARTUP was set to: /usr/bin/ssh-agent /usr/bin/enlightenment and with the quotes around the variable exec would think that that entire thing, spaces and all, was the name of a single executable. Now my window manager will start from kdm without problems. HTH, --Tom Joseph -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have a similar problem, and I have debianutils installed. My error message reads: /etc/X11/Xsession: run-parts:: No such file or directory Previous packaging revisions of XFree86 from Branden's repository worked fine. All of my XFree86 packages are 4.1.0-6pre7v3. I'd be happy to provide more detailed information about my configuration if someone would tell me what else is needed. Question about dexter
(Please CC: me as I'm not on this list). Hi all. I was helping a friend of mine install the X4 debs, and he noticed that dexter depends on dialog, but xserver-common, which gives dexter doesn't require it. Shouldn't it? (Or, dexter split off into another package, suggested by xserver-common, which depends on dialog). -- Tom Rini (TR1265) http://gate.crashing.org/~trini/

One way or another you can probably manage to plug a PC keyboard into just about anything, so it doesn't make much sense to refer to it as an i386 keyboard. Right, but the important question is will it still be a PC keyboard? If the PC keyboard goes in via USB, it's either a PC keyboard on x86, an ADB keyboard on PPC, or Non-existant on other arches (tho I suspect a similar translation-style to other arches). As for the few models of PPC hardware which can take a PS/2 style keyboard directly, I _think_ they do stay the same, keycode wise. So, my point, and I think there was one in there, is to be careful how you label 'em. It's only the type of keyboard it says, if it's not being adapted somehow. --- Tom Rini (TR1265) http://gate.crashing.org/~trini/ pgphpl8VaFZwH.pgp Description: PGP signature
