I too experienced the bug detailed at

* What led up to the situation?

I ran the command "systemctl hibernate" and left my computer overnight before
resuming it in the morning.

After resume, my mouse pointer jumps about the screen erratically but is shown
in the right place maybe half of the time. Logical effects of the mouse pointer
(window focus, where I click, etc) do not follow these erratic motions. I have
not experienced the multi-colored horizontal lines mentioned in the original
bug. This occurs with both the touchpad built into my laptop and a USB mouse.

* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or 
ineffective)?

I tried putting the computer through a suspend/resume cycle but this did not
correct the problem.

My laptop is a Thinkpad x240 i7-4600U (Intel graphics).

Same problem on my thinkpad t470s running sid (also confirmed by a
colleague with the same model), both on main and external screens.

Reverting to version 2:2.99.917+git20171229-1 also solved the issue.

Dear Maintainer,

libxkbcommon0:i386 isn't installable on multiarch (amd64), because it depends
on a i386 xkb-data package, which doesn't exist (xkb-data is actually an
all-architecture package). This makes impossible to use some i386
applications on mutiarch (say, anything that depends on SDL2), as they have
libxkbcommon0 as a dependency, which cannot be installed because of this issue:

The Xau(3) manual page lists the function:

   Xauth *XauGetAuthByAddr (unsigned short family, unsigned short
  address_length, char *address, unsigned short
  number_length, char *number);

This prototype is incorrect.  There are an additional two arguments:

  unsigned short name_length,
  const char* name

On that note, from /usr/include/X11/Xauth.h, it appears as if all of
the above character pointers point to constant strings.

Bug#581763: xserver-xorg-core: xinerama stops working with LeftOf

There is an upstream regression in the X server which prevents (true)
Xinerama from working when the LeftOf directive is used to specify a
screen to the left of a lower-numbered screen.

This causes the mouse to wrap from the left of the previous screen to the
most rightmost screen instead of entering the LeftOf screen.

The upstream bug report is at

The patch which fixes this is at

Recompiling applying this patch fixes the issue.

I upgraded a Knoppmyth system using apt-get update ; apt-get
dist-upgrade, and the TV output via the PVR-350's composite out
stopped working.

The X11 server seems to be starting up fine, but nothing ultimately
shows up on my television. It acts like it's not see a signal at all
on the composite video in.

Oddly enough, I can connect to the X11 server from another machine via
LAN using xvnc4viewer, and that looks just fine.

relevant other package (similarly to the nvidia-glx package and kernel
modules) to avoid confusing others.

When the core.theme (and any theme that uses cursors from core.theme 
like redglass.theme) is activated (update-alternatives --config 
x-cursor-theme and x restart), the cursors are misdrawn.  The error is 
specific.

What I assume should look like

is displayed as

That is, the left-most columns are drawn on the the right edge of the 
cursor.  It seems that if a theme shares cursors with cores, those and 
only those cursors are misdrawn.

This occured when updating to the latest version of xorg and related x 
libs.

I've got a laptop with the following display:

Occasionally, when shutting down X11 or when switch to a virtual
terminal (i.e., Ctrl-Alt-F1), my screen goes mostly black (with
several light gray boxes), and the whole system locks up. Once it's
locked up, I can't do anything other than force a power down. I've
tried Ctrl-Alt-Del, Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, Ctrl-Alt-F1. The LEDs down
change when I press Caps lock. I haven't SysRq Raising
Elephants... because the laptop keyboard makes it hard.

The problem seems to occur more frequently when the machine has been
booted for longer periods of time.

I am experiencing this issue, and I haven't been able to find any 
configuration changes that make a difference. I've tried using 
/dev/psaux, /dev/input/mouse0, /dev/input/mice as the device.


I've verified with xev that X is seeing two button press and two button 
release events.


Do you have any other suggestions?  I am going on the road with my 
Debian laptop and the double click issue is pretty annoying.

The problem isn't the mouse, it's the config.  You might also need to
remove the SendCoreEvents option.

I tried removing the SendCoreEvents option, and it didn't change the 
behavior. I didn't reboot, but I did /etc/init.d/gdm stop  followed by 
/etc/init.d/gdm start. A single click still acts like a double click. I 
also tried using an IceWM session to eliminate my GNOME settings as a 
source of the problem. It behaved the same under IceWM.

I just upgraded xserver-xorg to a new version, and now when I make a
single left mouse click from my Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical USB
mouse it registers as a double click. This behavior occurs in all my
applications and gnome-panel menus.

It also occurs when I click the left mouse button Dell Latitude D410's
builtin touch pad.

By the way, my system sometimes freezes when I logout without shutting
down. The screen goes mostly back. There are some blocks of gray
towards the bottom of the screen. Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, Ctrl-Alt-Del,
Alt-F1, etc. don't have any effect.

Bug#402673: Update: behaviour changed, still broken

Just providing an update on the situation: it now leaves the resolution 
at 1024x768 when the brightness changes, but it fills the screen with 
junk.  At a guess, it's a copy the top few lines of what should be on 
the screen, just read wrongly - there are a lot of random-looking lines 
of colour at shallow angles slanting down the screen.

Forcing window-redraws etc. doesn't help, but flicking to text console 
and back solves the problems, as before.

When displaying and XV overlay (in Xine or MythTV), the whole of the 
overlay is blue and nothing else appears on it.  Unlike the related bugs 
I've seen on freedesktop.org, this happens even for small overlays 
(about 200x150 pixels) as well as full-screen or large ones.

While I can set xine to do software (xshm) data transfer (looks bad, 
uses lots of CPU but at least it works), mythtv can do no such thing so 
is not useable with this graphics card.

The card in question is a CyberBlade XP4m32 on a Toshiba R100 laptop.

Using a CyberBlade XP4m32 on a Toshiba R100 laptop.  When the display 
brightness changes (eg. after timeout, using KDE's laptop facilities), 
the resolution switches to 640x480, showing only the top-left corner of 
the screen.  The virtual desktop size doesn't change from the 1024x768 
it was before, and moving the mouse doesn't move the 640x480 window 
onto this.

Switching to the console and back again (Ctrl-Alt-F1, Alt-F7) changes it 
back to the full 1024x768.  Similarly, putting the laptop into 
Suspend-to-RAM mode and back fixes it.

When I try to start X .Org, the module evdev gets an

Mark,

I had a similar issue, and just got my TV out working.  I have an 
all-in-wonder radeon, and was getting bios/text output working fine, but 
starting X with the TV output enabled, caused both the CRT and TV to go 
blank.  I ran across this howto:

The thing that worked for me was to move/remove theatre_detect_drv.so 
from it's current location so it doesn't get loaded.  This module 
conflicts with the TV output module (at least on the all-in-wonder, it 
does).


If that doesn't work, try some of the other troubleshooting items from 
the link.

Bug#354221: xserver-xorg: confirming freezes with radeon driver

Hi,
I am not sure if I should open a new bugreport on my issue, but this one
seems actually the most appropriate one to add my information as the
problem is similar.

System gets locked up with xorg 7.0.22. I did a fresh install so I don't
know if these problems would have also occured with previous versions.
Locked up means: no Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, no pinging over network, no
mouse, no keyboard.

I mainly found the freezes occuring when using firefox - sometimes even
at the exact same point. From what I heard firefox uses acceleration.
This might be related to #319263. But in gerneal the system freezes now
and then.

So I set NoAccel to true and since then I didn't experience a single
freeze. Before I had at least 1-2 freezes a day and I didn't experience
any freeze for about 2 weeks now.

Uncommenting DRI or GLX didn't work for me AFAIR - I think I tried all
possible combination of disabling the one and enabling the other or
disabling them alltogether.

Using the ATI driver did not help either.

The scroll wheel on my Logitech MX518 stopped working after I just upgraded
the X11 related files (on Debian unstabled). Yesterday, the scroll wheel
worked fine. Moving the scroll wheel moved window content up and down like
it's supposed to.  Now, moving the scroll wheel has no effect.

It's a 10 button mouse, and I have

There are patches available against the 6.8.99.9 snapshots for basic tv
out on a range of Radeon cards. More information and the patches are at 
http://megahurts.dk/rune/tv_output.html These unfortunately are unable
currently to be integrated into upstream, as they are licensed under the
GPL, but I think should be ok for Debian to use the patches in it's xorg
packages.

Bug#318348: xserver-xorg: Unichrome driver will only use 640x480 on KM400

There's a bug in the Unichrome driver code which means high resolution video
modes are not available.  There's a simple fix given to me by Luc Verhagen
of the Unichrome development team:

In the file programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/drivers/via/ (provided by
patches/000_stolen_from_unichrome.sf.net.diff), in the function
ViaGetMemoryBandwidth:

case VIA_KM400:
   if (pVia-ChipRev  0x8F)

should read:

case VIA_KM400: 
   if (pVia-ChipRev  0x84) 


Making this change and recompiling has solved the problem for me.

New 'nv' support with trunk+(nv from sanitized)?

I'm looking for advice on how to build a version of the 'nv'
driver to support a recent nVidia GPU. My old laptop died (unfortunately)
and that has led me to tentatively replacing it with the HP zd7260us
which contains
  { 0x10DE0347, GeForce FX Go5700 },

I have built the proprietary nVidia driver, but it causes my
system to hang hard (I've detailed the configuration on nvNews):

The current release does not have support for this GPU:

There will likely be various problems applying the patches
in the nv directory, but this should be fewer things to resolve
than building the complete sanitized tree (without the benefit
of the full debianization during this period of transition to X.next)

coming up in a ridiculously low resolution. It's either 640x480 or
320x240 when the LCD display can do 1400x1050.

By looking at /var/log/XFree86.0.log, it appears that it is ignoring
my HorizSync and VertRefresh from my XF86Config-4 file.

Debian newbie needs XFree86 4.3 (Intel 845GL chipset)

Found a couple of XFree86 4.3 for Woody packages on www.apt-get.org - but
I'm newbie ignorant and need help on how to configure and/or issue the
correct apt-get commands on my Debian Woody machine to get XFree86 4.3 from
a seperate soruce from deabian.org.

I do know how to remove with apt-get remove Xfree86-common - are there other
items I should remove?

I'm assuming I need to edit /etc/apt/sources.list - what should I remove and
add to sources.list and what commands should I issue?

I had a similar problem.  It turned out that not all of my FontPath
statements in XF86Config were valid.  I don't know why one of them
suddenly became invalid, but deleting the offending line fixed things

Mouse hangs in 4.1.0-9

My mouse occasionally hangs with 4.1.0-9 while I am in X using a window 
manager and doing work - i.e. it stops responding to mouse movement.  It can 
take a few minutes or a few days or anywhere in between for the mouse to 
hang; I haven't been able to figure out what triggers it.

I have an M$ Intellimouse Explorer PS/2 (in XF86Config-4: Option Protocol 
ExplorerPS/2), and when the mouse pointer hangs the LED on the back of the 
mouse goes off, though the LED that it actually seems to use for tracking 
still works - seems to imply that data is no longer being exchanged through 
the PS/2 port.  Exiting my window manager and returning to kdm makes the 
mouse work again.  I didn't have problems with previous packaging revisions 
of 4.1.0.

With -9pre10v1 the problem gets worse; the mouse and keyboard become hung 
right when X starts, every time I've tried to start it - I can't even get a 
chance to use kdm to login, I have to ssh in from another box to kill X - and 
sometimes even when X is killed the keyboard still doesn't work at the text 
console.  Downgrading to -9 restored the less problematic state described 
above, which makes it seem to me like it has something to do with packaging.

Running kernel 2.4.12-ac3 with sid updated daily; I'd be glad to provide more 
information if told what is needed.  Also if there is a pertinent FM I should 
RT please point me in the right direction (my efforts to find information on 
this problem before posting were fruitless).

  /usr/bin/ssh-agent  /usr/bin/enlightenment
  and with the quotes around the variable exec would think that that entire
  thing, spaces and all, was the name of a single executable.

Now my window manager will start from kdm without problems.

I have a similar problem, and I have debianutils installed.  My error message 
reads:

/etc/X11/Xsession: run-parts:: No such file or directory

Previous packaging revisions of XFree86 from Branden's repository worked 
fine.  All of my XFree86 packages are 4.1.0-6pre7v3.

I'd be happy to provide more detailed information about my configuration if 
someone would tell me what else is needed.

Not really.  gcc is much more piggish on ppc.  I knows it's been asked a few
times now, but how much swap do you have?  Also, does anyone know what PPC
patches are in the gcc debs?

Question about dexter

Hi all.  I was helping a friend of mine install the X4 debs, and he noticed
that dexter depends on dialog, but xserver-common, which gives dexter doesn't
require it.  Shouldn't it?  (Or, dexter split off into another package,
suggested by xserver-common, which depends on dialog).

Right, but the important question is will it still be a PC keyboard?
If the PC keyboard goes in via USB, it's either a PC keyboard on x86,
an ADB keyboard on PPC, or Non-existant on other arches (tho I suspect
a similar translation-style to other arches).  As for the few models of PPC
hardware which can take a PS/2 style keyboard directly, I _think_ they do
stay the same, keycode wise.

So, my point, and I think there was one in there, is to be careful how you
label 'em.  It's only the type of keyboard it says, if it's not being adapted
somehow.

  I'm not sure this is going to work for sparc, I need to test this out again.
  I think alot of the mach64 stuff that is #if'd for powerpc could be done for
  sparc to use it too (the regwb() is one of them).
 
 Have a look at it. I will be away until monday evening, so i can test
 what you come up with. Anyway, best would be to put all the regxxx
 stuff in the same file, and all the different arch version in the same
 function also, like it was started to do with regwbe.

Hmm.  Does this patch (what I've been using for 3.3.5 rpms) look alright
all around?
