Bug#534737: [xserver-xorg-video-intel] GM45: Black screen with large virtual display and X server 1.6.1.901-3

2009-06-26 Thread Torsten Marek
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.7.99.901-2
Severity: normal

After upgrading xserver-xorg-core to 2:1.6.1.901-3, I get a black screen
when the X server is started using a large virtual display (3360x1200).

The screen shows the mouse cursor and X is responsive, I was able to log
in using gdm by typing blindly, and judging from the process list, the
session came up nicely. However, with a black screen, only the cursor
was updated accordingly.

 * removing the Virtual directive from xorg.conf results in normal
behavior
 * downgrading xserver-xorg-video-intel to the version in unstable
yields X crashes with the Virtual directive and normal behavior when
it is removed
 * downgrading xserver-xorg-core to 2:1.6.1.901-2 results in normal
behavior with and without the Virtual directive

Bug#363559: xserver-xorg-video-ati: system freezes on Thinkpad T42

2006-04-24 Thread Torsten Marek
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi,

well, the XSF has been warned before, and I guess they already knew the solution
- - just leaves us wondering why they didn't fix it.

Anyway, rebuilding xserver-xorg-video-ati with the sources from the
ati-1-0-branch (from Xorg cvs /driver/xf86-video-ati) fixes the problem for me.
Additionally, you might need the DRM fixes for the kernel (either take a 2.6.17
kernel or use the git-drm patches from 2.6.16-mm*).

best,

Torsten

Switch to modular X and lv3:ralt_switch_multikey

2006-04-14 Thread Torsten Marek
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi,

I've just switched over to modular X. I have a ThinkPad T41p with a FireGL
Mobility T2. Using the radeon DRM driver 1.24 (from 2.6.16-mm2) and the
ati-1-0-branch from X.org CVS as xserver-xorg-video-ati, I have accelerated
graphics without any lockups (so far).

However, I have one question. Former X releases used to have a
lv3:ralt_switch_multikey option, but it seems to have vanished in X11R7. Is
there any (functional equivalent) replacement or is it just missing? I feel
quite strongly for this options, since I don't have any spare keys left
(ThinkPads don't have menu or windows keys).

My keyboard config is:

Section InputDevice
Identifier Generic Keyboard
Driver kbd
Option CoreKeyboard
Option XkbRules xorg
Option XkbModel ibm/thinkpad(intl)
Option XkbLayout de
Option XkbVariantnodeadkeys
Option XkbOptionslv3:ralt_switch,ctrl:nocaps
Option AutoRepeat200 45
EndSection

Keep up the good work!

best,

Torsten

PS: Please answer me directly, as I'm not subscribed to the list. TIA.
