BUG: XFree 4.1.0 and Chips driver
Hello, I updated XFree to 4.1 on my laptop (the version from Debian woody), and now X doesn't work anymore. The problem is that the X server gets a signal 11 while starting up. I cannot believe it's a hardware failure: This is on my laptop which has been running XFree 3.3 and XFree 4.0 for 4 years without problems. The problems started with the upgrade to XFree 4.1. I saw a second bug report for the Chips driver which fails at the same place (but with a different kernel): See http://lists.debian.org/debian-x/2001/debian-x-200106/msg00085.html Hardware is a Toshiba Tecra 520CDT with Linux 2.4.7. It works with the vesa driver, but slowly. Can anyone help?? TIA, Walter Please CC me as I'm not subscribed to this list. = XF86 log file = This is a pre-release version of XFree86, and is not supported in any way.
